Race 1 CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M:

TERMS (E. Heninemann) was tightened for room at the start between MAGIC GLENYCE (J. Brand) and YOUTHFUL PRINCE (G. Steele) which shifted in.

Near the 1200m TERMS raced in restricted room between MAGIC GLENYCE and WARCRUSHER (R. Kerwin) which shifted in. R. Kerwin, rider of WARCRUSHER, was issued with a reprimand.

COME PREPARED (D. Rewald) failed to muster early speed.

WARCRUSHER and YOUTHFUL PRINCE raced wide throughout.

Jockey R. Kerwin reported that WARCRUSHER resented the kick back and in her opinion proved detrimental to the gelding’s performance.

A post race veterinary examination of TERMS, which tailed off, revealed no significant abnormalities.

Race 2 CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M:

NOTHING BUT GOLD (N. Morton) jumped in at the start.
BLU LASS (D. Evans) jumped in made contact with DING DONG (E. Heinemann)

BRAMSHAW BAZAAR (K. Nakata) and KENTUCKY BOMBER (G. Steele) made contact on jumping.

Trainer T. Higgins was questioned in regards to the improved performance of MAGIC MIKE. Trainer T. Higgins stated that the gelding had only recently joined his stable and that he had been encouraged by the horses work in recent weeks. Mr. Higgins further added that he supported the horse and that a drop in class was to the geldings benefit.

Race 3 CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200M:

Mr. R. Robb, trainer of MR CORONE, sought permission to race the gelding in a tongue tie. Stewards permitted the gear change.

At the start, NOU CAMP (D. Rewald) was tightened for room and lost ground between QUANTUM SHADOW (G. Steele) and LUCKY PUNT (B. Newport), which shifted out.

ZIPOLITE (J. Brand) jumped out and made contact with CRAWFISH (D. Evans).

Near the 1000m LUCKY PUNT improved onto the heels of EDWARDSCISSORHANDS (C. Rogers) and had to be restrained.

ZIPOLTE travelled wide throughout.

Race 4 CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB OPEN HANDICAP 1200M:

SHAKES (J. Brand) was slow to begin.

BIG BAD JOEL (B. Newport) began awkwardly, was slow into stride and as a result raced wide throughout.

Apprentice J. Brand was questioned in regards to the tactics adopted on SHAKES. Apprentice Brand reported that instructions were to go back and after beginning slowly, this suited the horses racing pattern. Apprentice Brand added that the gelding resented the kick back in the early and middle stages and did not travel well until a point reaching the 600m where she elected to shift out wider on the track to obtain clear running. Apprentice Brand further reported that after placing the horse under pressure from this point, she then felt that the gelding responded well over the concluding stages.

Race 5 CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000M:

Trainer R. Frazer sought permission from stewards for D. Brown, a senior rider, to replace K Patch on WENTING as the horse’s manners may not suit the apprentice rider that was available. Stewards permitted the change.

COME BY OFTEN (J. Rudd) stood flat footed and lost considerable ground.

BELLAVON (K. Nakata) was tightened for room at the start between SHEARER’S MAGIC (R. Hancock) and GENERAL NICK (G. Steele) when both runners shifted ground.

GENERAL NICK was held up for clear running from the home turn until reaching the 100m.
