Race 1: CLASS B H’CAP – 1000M
1st – SAN DIEGUITO 2nd – HIGHWAY CHILD 3rd – SEQUAJAKE 4th - RODEL
RED’S HOPE – Slow to begin. Raced very wide in the early stages. Jockey J. Rudd reported that the mare, which was having its first race start, resented the kickback and raced greenly throughout.
ELEGANT ELLIE – Steadied momentarily near the 600m when tightened for room to the inside of AL HAMZA (App. H. English). Apprentice English was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.
HIGHWAY CHILD – Jockey C. Rogers reported the gelding was inclined to hang in throughout the event, which prevented her from riding her mount out with her usual vigour.
SAN DIEGUITO – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer W. Baker reported that the gelding did not handle the sand track at its previous start and appreciated the firmer surface in today’s event.
ZAHA COUNTY – When questioned regarding the performance, which was below market expectations, trainer L. Mawn agreed the performance was disappointing and indicated he would try removing the blinkers and tongue tie for the gelding’s next start.
Race 2: MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

ROLLING ART – Jockey C. Rogers reported she felt something amiss with the gelding’s action at the home turn and therefore did not ride her mount out over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer T. Elmes was advised he would need to obtain a veterinary clearance for ROLLING ART prior to the gelding racing again.
Race 3: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
1st – STAR SYSTEM 2nd – ARCTIC RED 3rd – STAND’N’STARE 4th - ATEACES

MURPHY’S COAL DUST – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey B. Richardson explained that after being caught wide the gelding failed to respond to her riding over the concluding stages. She added that the gelding was having its first start in eight weeks and in her opinion would derive a fitness benefit from today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
