Powell was injured and unable to ride at this meeting, replacements were made as per the raceday summary. RACE 1: ANNE DUFF MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m1ST – MR BOXVALE 2ND – THE MAIN MAN 3RD – MONTE VICTORY 4TH – TYCOON MEG PACIFIC PUZZLE – Slow to begin.LITTLE CYCLONE – Began awkwardly and raced wide in the early stages. TYCOON MEG – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MONTE VICTORY - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RACE 2: HICKEY HAULAGE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1000m1ST – FLINDERS PEAK 2ND – RHYTHM NATION 3RD – MISS DELIMA 4TH – ZAHA COUNTY FERRIGNO – Fractious in the barriers. Following this event jockey C. Bryen was examined by the on-course paramedics and stood down from his remaining rides with an injured foot. Replacements were made as per the raceday summary. HIDDEN CHIEF – Began awkwardly. FORGOTTEN TUNE – Raced wide in the early stages. OUR DEB – Blundered badly near the 600m and lost ground. FLINDERS PEAK – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer C. Baker advised that the mare was having its first start for her stable, had been working well in the lead up to the event and she was expecting a forward showing. RACE 3: CUNNAMULLA CONCRETE OPEN HANDICAP – 1000m1ST – THE YOWIE 2ND – TORERO 3RD – NO OTHER WAY 4TH – POLAR BLITZ POLAR BLITZ – Stewards permitted jockey S. Egan to ride the gelding at 1kg over its handicapped weight as he was replacing the injured C. Bryen. Bumped with another runner at the start. CHOIRS – Bumped with another runner at the start. TORERO – Apprentice L. Tilley was fined $200 for returning to scale overweight. RACE 4: LAND TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1200m1ST – BRITISH BULLDOG 2ND – WICKED WOODY 3RD – REGAL PRINCE 4TH – GOLD BONANZA ITTY GITTY – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. JESSE ‘N’ JAMES – Began awkwardly. SMOKIN’ SNITZEL – Began awkwardly. Checked near the 250m when tightened for room to the inside of GOLD BONANZA, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. MONTANUS – Steadied near the 100m when tightened for room to the inside of GOLD BONANZA, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. GOLD BONANZA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer E. Jonson was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. RACE 5: RUSSELL'S GRADER HIRE BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP – 1400m 1ST – LITTLE JATZ 2ND – WARRIOR OF PEACE 3RD – ALICE FROM ALBURY 4TH – EMMAROSE MONSIEUR HUGHES – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Tailed the field in the early stages. SEE YOU SATURDAY – Bumped with another runner at the start. SPINE SCHILLER - Bumped with another runner at the start. YOU CAN’T BE – Began awkwardly. NOTHING BUT GOLD – Trainer C. Rodgers was fined $100 for failing to produce the document of description for the gelding. LITTLE JATZ – Checked leaving the 1300m when tightened for room between SEE YOU SATURDAY (D. McMaster), which shifted out when insufficiently clear, and SECOND LOVE (J. Geppert), which was taken in by ALICE FROM ALBURY (M. Hackett), which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Both D. McMaster and M. Hackett were severely reprimanded for this incident. SECOND LOVE – Tightened for room at the start. Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1300m. RACE 6: DAVE & LOLA WEBSTER MEMORIAL CUNNAMULLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m 1ST – BELLE EXPRESS 2ND – LOUPPY BEND 3RD – WILD GODSON 4TH – MURPHY’S COAL DUST STRIKE ZONE - Upon arriving on course, trainer B. Dixon reported to stewards that the gelding had sustained an injury during transport. STRIKE ZONE was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:15 pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. LOUPPY BEND – Began awkwardly. MURPHY’S COAL DUST – Bumped with another runner at the start. CAMPANOLOGY - Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers after brushing the fence when leaving the mounting yard and cleared to start. Bumped with another runner at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, which was below market expectations, apprentice D. Graham advised that after losing ground at the start she was forced to race wide throughout the event, which in her opinion resulted in the gelding failing to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CRAWFISH – Raced wide throughout.
