QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB – SATURDAY, 17 JUNE 2016 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – GOOD (DIRT) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. BarronStewards – B. CookeBetting Steward – QRIC StewardsClerk of Scales – ClubJudge – F. Lewis, T. PenderVeterinarian – B. BarkerStarter – R. Jones RACE 1: BILLABONG HOTEL MOTEL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M Prior to start time, after a short period of rain, stewards inspected the track and were satisfied with the racing surface. GOGOGREY – Raced wide throughout. QAMAR – Raced wide throughout. TREMONT – On return to scale app. N. Morton advised that the gelding failed to muster early speed and in her opinion would be much better suited in races over a greater distance then that of today’s event.Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be Lame off hind. Trainer R. Sullivan was advised a veterinary certificate is required prior next start. QAMAR - App. J. Brand was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance. RACE 2: CUNNAMULLA COFFE SHOP (HERB, JEAN & FAMILY) MAIDEN PLATE 1200M AMLECK – Raced wide throughout. Trainer B. Sheppard expressed disappointment in the performance today and advised that gelding would be sent for a spell. Post-race veterinary examination revealed a small abrasion to the off hind. TRAIL BUSTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to lay in over the concluding stages. ZOOMESDAY – Raced wide throughout. RACE 3: FRIENDLY GROCERS (RICK & YVONNE) BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200M Correct weight was delayed to allow App. N. Morton, rider of third placegetter NOVARUPTA, the opportunitiy to view the photo finish. After viewing to photo finish to satisfaction of stewards and App. N. Morton correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers. HIGHWAY CHILD – Stewards accepted trainer R. Sullivan’s explanation for the late declaration of rider, S. Egan. DESERT ELSIE – Near the 1000m had to be checked when tightened for room when NOVARUPTA shifted in. App. N. Morton was advised to exercise more care. BRIBE THE WITNESS – Slow to begin. ATTRENTE - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. NOVARUPTA – Bumped at the start. PARANA – Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier. Raced wide throughout. CAPITAL TYCOON- Near the 1000m had to be steadied from heels of BELLA SONG which shifted in. App. D. Graham was advised to exercise more care. Commenced to lay in over the final stages. RACE 4: SCHMIDT CONTRACTING (JAMES & KIRSTY) OPEN HANDICAP 1200M NUDE SECRETS – Made heavy contact with another runner at the start and lost ground. TESTASCANA – Made heavy contact with another runner. I’M A SOLDIER – Raced wide throughout. CRAWFISH – Raced wide throughout.
