Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice T. Townsend (WRITTEN GUARANTEE) alleging interference against the winner (GREY RULES) over the concluding stages. After hearing submissions from connections, it was established that at a point leaving the 100m, WRITTEN GUARANTEE was placed in restricted room and lost ground when GREY RULES was taken in by VINAIGRETTE which shifted in marginally. Giving consideration to the nature of the interference, the way both horses finished the race off and the margin of a length, stewards couldn’t be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred, WRITTEN GUARENTEE would have finished in advance of GREY RULES and subsequently dismissed the objection. As a result of the incident leaving the 100m, Jockey B. Moffat (VINAIGRETTE) was advised to exercise more care.
