QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CUNNAMULLA & DISTRICT DIGGERS RACE CLUB INC. CUNNAMULLA – SATURDAY 9 OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (DIRT) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T. Preston Stewards – P. Jenkins Clerk of Scales – Stewards Judge – Club Veterinarian – Dr. C. Scott Starter – R. JonesPhoto Finish Operator- Club GENERAL Appr Jockey P. Bradford was not riding at today’s meeting due to personal reasons. Rider Changes as per the Stewards Summary.Jockey S. Sweedman was overweight and not able to for fill his engagements in Race 1-CAJUN LADY, Race 4- BUNDOORA and Race 5- JUST FAVULOUS and subsequently replacedand fined the sum of $100 by Stewards. Rider Changes as per the Stewards Summary. Stewards held an enquiry into the matter and after hearing a submission from Jockey Sweedman acting under AR 190 (3) subsequently fined him the sum of $100. Race 1- BROWN & HURLEY MAIDEN PLATE 800M DEADIDIC- bumped shortly after the start by another runner and became unbalanced. BETTYWASADANCER- after bumping another runner after the start lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer P. Townsend advised the Mare would be spelled. COLLECTION- was slow to begin, travelled wide with no cover early- mid stages of the event. CAJUN LADY- began awkwardly. EIL’N’ ALL- veered out shortly after the start. Stewards spoke with Jockey J. Rudd who advised the horse “got lost after the start” but finished off the race very well. Stewards accepted his explanationAnd took no further action. Race 2- OIGLE COLEMAN & DIGGER HIGGINS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 800M ELITE GREY- a post- race veterinary examination revealed the Mare to be lame in the nearside knee. The horse was treated by the attending Veterinarian and Trainer W. Pugsley was advised that a Veterinary Certificate Would be required prior to the horse racing again. COURT ROCKING- Stewards spoke with Jockey G. Geran regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of the Gelding in running. Jockey Geran advised Stewards the horse was first up after a forced spell and wasn’t suited by the distance and felt it may have been too short. Stewards accepted Jockey Geran’s explanation and took no further action. REBEL REBELLION- began awkwardly and lost ground, raced fiercely and hung in early stages despite the efforts of the rider trying to restrain the gelding. When entering the home turn the rider shifted out when trying to improve resulting in the rider of ELITE GREY having to take hold. Jockey Graham was reminded of her obligation to ensure she allows sufficient room when shifting ground by Stewards. NEELANJALI- travelled wide with no cover during the early- mid stages of the event. Race 3- STRASBURG BROS. LIVESTOCK MARBURG QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M HEADSPACE- failed to jump despite the urging of its rider. Trainer S. Iverson was advised by Stewards a Barrier Certificate would be required before the gelding races again. AR20 (e) LEICA SPECIAL- began awkwardly. THE LAST DRAGON- failed to jump and lost substantial ground, stable representative M. Hicks was advised that the horse would be required to obtain a Barrier Certificate prior to racing again. AR20 (e) BETTER BE GREAT- travelled wide with no cover for the majority of the event. Race 4- LOWES PETROLEUM SERVICE CUNNAMULLA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M CLASSIC WIND- began slowly and lost ground. Hung out over the final stages of the event.IBINI- J. RUDD BUNDOORA- travelled wide with no cover from the home turn and over the final stages of the event. Race 5- WOODYS WESTERN MAIL SERVICES CUNNAMULLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M ANOTHER PLAN- was slow to begin, got back early and raced ungenerously until the home turn, then finished off well. FORGED IN STONE- jumped awkwardly then blundered shortly after the start. Race 6- NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS CUNNAMULLA CLASS B HANDICAP 1400M DISCO DOUGIE- bumped by another runner shortly after the start. When approaching the 1200m point the rider had to take hold momentarily as another runner shifted in. GOLDEN TREASURE- was awkward to begin and bumped another runner shortly after the start. When approaching the 1200m point it was bumped by another runner with the rider having to take hold and was forced in marginally. CADOUIN- when approaching the 1200m point when trying to improve the Mare shifted in momentarily and bumped another runner. SULUS GIRL- began slowly and bumped by another runner shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Stewards enquired into the incident that was alleged to have occurred when approaching the 1200m point and were of the opinion that a number of factors contributed to the matter and could find that no one rider was responsible for the incident and therefore, recorded it as a racing incident.
