THE SABBATH- began awkwardly

Travelled wide with no cover for the majority of the event. Began to improve from the 400m and ran on well. Trainer S Iverson was advised a warning would be placed on the horse due to its behaviour today.

Race 4: ANN DUFF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 METRES

The start of this race was delayed due to BALLYCASTLE refusing to load. The start was further delayed as a result of the rider of GILLICKS WAY breaking an iron, it was subsequently replaced and jumped with the field..

BALLY CASTLE- refused to load. It was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.54pm. Trainer Mr J Hatch was advised the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BALLYCASTLE be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 1.54pm.

0c in the dollar for the winner.
11c in the dollar for the place bets on the winner.
11c in the dollar for 2nd place.
8c in the dollar for 3rd place.

AURIC GOLD- was slow to begin, tailed off from the 1000m for the majority of the event.

GILLICKS WAY- rider broke an iron as the gelding was being loaded. A replacement iron was ordered by Stewards and the horse was able to participate in the event. Stewards will contact Trainer P Townsend regarding the seemingly improved performance of the Gelding.

A delay in correct weight occurred to allow the rider of LASCO S Sweedman an opportunity to view the photo image as he was of the opinion his mount had finished in 2nd position in front of LOW LEVEL FLYING. After viewing the image and consulting the Judges, Trainer W Pugsley and Jockey Sweedman Stewards were of the opinion that the margin was sufficient that LOW LEVEL FLYING did finish in front of LASCO and therefore, the placings stood as semaphored. 1st Placing GILLICKS WAY, 2nd Placing LOW LEVEL FLYING and 3rd Placing LASCO.
