GOLD CHANCE- began awkwardly and then raced three- wide with no cover from the 600m point for some distance.

THE SABBATH- Raced three-wide for the majority of the race. Trainer M Gavin reported to Stewards her horse lost a shoe at the 800m point.

Race 2: PHOTO FINISH LASSIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 METRES

ESKDALE GIRL- BEGAN AWKWARDLY. On returning to scales Appr Jockey A Bakos advised Stewards that her mount was held up for a run shortly after entering the home straight. Steward spoke with trainer Mr R Coveney regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of his horse today. He advised that the Mare was in season, she was first up since January with an increase of 4.5 kilograms since that run all which may have contributed to her run today. Stewards noted Mr Coveney’s comments.

MAXIMUM HUSTLE- was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8.00am due to no rider being available.

BUDDY OLLIE- raced three- wide with no cover for the majority of the race. Acting under AR190 (3) Stewards Fined Jockey R Payne the sum of $200 for accepting a ride when being overweight. Jockey Payne was informed of her right of review.

ITSAALKAY- was slow to begin, raced at the tail of the field for the majority of the race. Jockey D Baker was questioned by Stewards regarding the gelding’s performance. He advised that after beginning slowly, the gelding appeared to resent the kickback and wasn’t suited by the conditions today. Stewards noted his comments.

AURIC GOLD- despite begging okay, the gelding failed to travel well during the early stages and raced at the tail of the field for some distance.

SLALD- Stewards acting under AR190 (3) fined Jockey S Sweedman the sum of $200 for accepting a ride when overweight. Jockey Sweedman was advised of his right to a review.

Race 3:  RACE DAY JUDGES QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 METRES

MISHANI OPERATOR-travelled extremely wide for the majority of the race, as the gelding approached the 400m until it entered the home turn, the gelding tended to lay in for a short distance resulting in another runner being tightened for room to its inside. The gelding was quickly corrected by the rider and finished the race off strongly despite travelling wide for the remainder of the event.

ARMANI BLAZE- on approaching the 400m point travelled three -wide, then when shifting out to improve position at the home straight the rider was forced to take hold and was tightened for room between runners losing ground. Stewards inquired into the incident leaving the 400m until approximately the home turn. After hearing evidence from all parties and then viewing the official patrol vision available at the time; it was determined that that both the riders of MISHANI OPERATOR and POLLARD simultaneously shifting ground marginally, contributed to ARMANI BLAZE being tightened for room at that point. Stewards were of the opinion that no one rider could be attributed blame for the incident and the patrol film did not provide sufficient evidence to assist in sustaining a charge against any rider. It is the opinion of Stewards that the matter be recorded as a racing incident and advised all riders to exercise more care in running in the future. Jockey P Randall advised stewards he was experiencing some pain in his left hip after his ride. Jockey Randall was examined by QAS and passed fit to ride for the remainder of the program. No Medical Certificate was required at this time.

POLLARD- between the 400m and the home turn the gelding tended to lay out for a short distance resulting in ARMANI BLAZE being inconvenienced.

CURRUMBIN- on returning to the mounting yard it was noted that the Gelding had bled from both nostrils. A post-race Veterinary Examination confirmed the horse had Bilateral Epistaxis, as this was the horse’s second episode a bar was placed on the horse. Trainer W Baker was subsequently notified of the issue.

CULTURAL ICON- on returning to scales Appr Jockey A Bakos advised Stewards that her saddle had slipped shortly after the start which contributed to the horse’s disappointing performance today. Stewards noted Appr Jockey Bako’s comments.

LESLIE JAMES- began awkwardly and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. A Post- race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4: RACE VIDEO RECORDERS OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES
