QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CUNNAMULLA RACE CLUB SATURDAY 4TH MARCH 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING DIRT RAIL TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T Preston Stewards – D MacDonald Clerk of Scales –Stewards Judge – J Johnson, D Duff Veterinarian – Dr E Young Swab Official-S Cavanagh Starter – R Jones Photo finish Operator- T Cantlay. GENERAL Jockey Scott Sweedman was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to transport difficulties. Rider replacements as per the Stewards Summary. Stewards permitted Jky P Randall to rider .5kg overweight in Race 4. Race 1: C & DDRC MAIDEN PLATE 1000M I’M FREE- On returning to scale Jky R Faehr reported to Stewards that he dropped his whip at the 300m and was unable to fully ride his mount out fully over the final stages. Stewards noted his comments. KALMIA- Trainer R Frazer reported to Stewards that the gelding lost three plates in the event. Stewards noted both front plates and the rear near-side plate had been lost. ROCKMYDOLLER- Slow to begin and raced at the tail of the field for the majority of the event despite the riders’ best efforts to improve into the race., GO THE PARROT- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Hung out for a short distance after entering the home straight. LOONEY TUNES- After entering the home straight raced greenly for some distance before being corrected by its rider. Race 2: C & DDRC QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000M GENTLEMAN REID- Slight delay to the start of the race due to gelding having to be resaddled in the mounting enclosure. Rolled in marginally approaching the 600m point inconveniencing WHITE CHOCOLATE. NO NAY EMERALD- Raced keenly during the early stages then raced wide for the majority of the event. WHITE CHOCOLATE- Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier petition and lost ground. When approaching the 600m point when attempting a run to the inside of GENTLEMAN REID had to take hold momentarily and lost ground at that point. BUDDIE OLLIE- Slow into stride and failed to go the early speed then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event, post-race veterinary examination was undertaken due to the seemingly poor performance which subsequently detected no abnormalities. Race 3: NEW STATE BUILDERS OPEN HANDICAP 1000M MENINDEE- Approaching the 500m point shifted inward when attempting to improve its position resulting in the rider of FLASH FIBIAN having to take hold momentarily. Appr Jky A Graham was advised to exercise more care when crossing other runners. EXPELLABLE-Began awkwardly and shortly afterward the start shifted out momentarily and as a result VINAIGRETTE was tightened for room and the rider had to take hold at a point near the 950m. ANOTHER PLAN- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken due to the gelding’s seemingly disappointing performance subsequently no abnormalities were detected. Trainer G Bignell was advised by Stewards that under the provision of AR 75(1)(b) a Warning would be placed on the horse for his seemingly poor barrier manners. VINAIGRETTE- Leaving the 950 was tightened between runners and had to take hold. Hung in the home straight for some distance before being corrected by the rider then continued to hang out for the remainder of the event. Trainer R Frazer was advised that under the provision of AR 75 (1)(b) a Warning would be placed on the horse. FLASH FIBIAN- When approaching the 950m point rolled in and tightened another runner to the inside momentarily. Leaving the 600m laid out for some distance then when approaching the 500m had to take hold shortly after when crossed by another runner. Race 4: C & DDRC BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M NO DEBT- Began awkwardly. When weighing in Jky S Galvin became physically distressed and was examined by the QAS. This examination revealed Jky S Galvin to be dehydrated and was treated for the condition immediately after the running of this event. QAS subsequently examined Jky Galvin again prior to the running of Race 5 and passed him fit to ride in the final event of the day. FROZE- Slow into stride and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. GYPSY BIKER- Began awkwardly. FIRST FAMILY- Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier gates on jumping. FUNKY FARM- Began awkwardly with its head in the air. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 5: C &DDRC CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M CRAIG AND HOFF- Laid out under pressure in the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by its rider. HAGGERSTON- Ran off from the Trainer at the tie up stalls between race 2 and 3. A pre-race vet inspection was undertaken with the gelding passed fit to race in this event. Stood flat footed and was slow into stride then shortly after the start was bumped by another runner. THE SABBATH- Began awkwardly and bumped HAGGERSTON shortly after the start. CULTURAL ICON- Raced extremely wide in the home straight for the remainder of the event. SCHNITZ CREEK- Slow to begin and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. BUBBLE BATH-Began awkwardly and then travelled wide for the majority of the event.
