After hearing evidence from Starter R Jones, Appr Jky T Leslight and Jky N Fazackerley Stewards were of the opinion that neither runner was disadvantaged due to the error. Starter R Jones advised that there were 3 x horses requiring late loads including the two horses subject to the inquiry and with limited experienced staff this has aggravated the situation. He further gave an undertaking that going forward the issue would not reoccur. Stewards acting under the provision of AR198 issued a Reprimand to Jky N Fazackerley and a Severe Reprimand to Appr Jky T Leslight as each rider must ensure that his or her horse occupies its allocated barrier determined by the barrier draw. NO NAY EMERALD- Stewards spoke with Trainer M Gavin in relation to the seemingly improved performance today. Ms Gavin advised that the horse seems to race better when it has a 3 x week break between runs, the pattern of racing where she was able to get to the lead early and dictate the running certainly went in her favour.
