RACE 1: NATURE – VET CLASS 3 H'CAP – 2000M.

B Calkin (STARRY AVALANCHE) replaced P Spry who was overweight. P Spry was fined the sum of $100.

ALBELINI was slowly away.

DON’T WORRY (D Tanti), jumped in striking the rider’s ankle on the gate.

STARRY AVALANCHE raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Leaving the 600m JOANNA’S SCENT shifted out forcing FLASH FLAIRS wider on the track.

Leaving the 100m ALBELINI shifted in and made contact with JOANNA’S SCENT.

Time off 12.15 pm.

RACE 2: XXXX / ANZ RURAL MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

G Lynch (MALMISCHIEF) replaced P Moodie who failed to arrive on course by the required time. Stewards subsequently accepted the explanation of P Moodie.

BLACK ATTACK and GUBBINGAR made contact on jumping.

SEAWAY LAD and BOORINGA LAD made contact on jumping.

SEAWAY LAD then shifted out crowding the running of SEDITION, MANSLAND and AKTHAR.

Near the 600m BOORINGA LAD was momentarily crowded for room by MANSLAND.
Leaving the 600m GUBBINGAR whilst being eased from heels shifted in tightening the running of DONNABELLE.

Leaving the 200m BOORINGA LAD (B Calkin) shifted in and made heavy contact with MCCAWLEY’S LAD. B Calkin was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground.

MCCAWLEY’S MILL returned to scale lame on the off fore. Trainer W Gesler was advised that a veterinary clearance is required for MCCAWLEY’S MILL prior to its next start.

Time off 12.50 pm.

RACE 3: WAGNERS CONCRETE CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1400M.

CONVEY was slowly away.

Leaving the 1000m KINGSTON CHIEF and APPIAN RULE were hampered by DANZINA, which shifted out.

EUREKA STORM returned to scale with blood in its mouth.

Time off 1.28 pm.

RACE 4: BRAZIER TRAILERS QTIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M.

N Evans (FOREVER ON EDGE) replaced D Tanti who was stood down from his remaining engagements following an incident in race 1.

OUR KAWLIJA and CHARIOT PIPER were slowly away.

ELEMENT OF TRUTH jumped awkwardly.

KULAK jumped out making contact with FOREVER ON EDGE.

ROGER’S FOLLY raced greenly in the early stages.

Leaving the 500m GASHEDA and AURUKUN raced in restricted room between OUR KAWLIJA and MISS RANCHO for a short distance.

DASHA CHARIOT shifted out over the concluding stages.

NOHOLME GOLD hung out rounding the home turn.

KNOW NOW hung out throughout.

Time off 2.00 pm.

RACE 5: ANZ CANNONBALL CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1000M.

At the start ZACSAWAY jumped in making heavy contact with PITTAPADDY.

NIVEN jumped awkwardly.

Leaving the 800m PITTIPADDY, which was taken in by COUNT JESTER, made contact with DINNER’S READY. DINNER’S READY then became unbalanced for some distance.

When questioned about the disappointing performance of DINNER’S READY, jockey R Goltz stated that his mount travelled well until the 400m but once placed under pressure he stopped quickly. Trainer S Iverson stated that the gelding pulled up big and no doubt he would take benefit from the run, explanations noted. A veterinary examination of the gelding revealed that he had sustained an injury to the off fore heel.

At the pull up D Craven dismounted from his mount JARDINE’S LOOKOUT when it started to stagger. JARDINE’S LOOKOUT subsequently collapsed and died from a haemorrhage.

Time off 2.40 pm.

RACE 6: BAILEY CIVIL CONTRACTORS FLYING H'CAP – 1100M.

Shortly after the start MR. KABARLA shifted in and made contact with ELECTRICAL STORM. ELECTRICAL STORM then attempted to buck and was retired from the race shortly after. D Burns was advised that the gelding is to pass a barrier jumpout prior to its next start.

Time off 3.20 pm.

RACE 7: CARMICHAEL BUILDERS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100M.

MARKET RUN was cleared to take its place in the field following a veterinary examination at the barrier.

SUPERSTAR LIBRA and PEDRO’S PRIDE were slowly away.

Time off 4.02 pm.

RACE 8: XXXX CHRISTMAS TREE CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1400M.

B Calkin (MAGADI) replaced D Tanti.

Shortly after the start TOBIANA shifted in and made contact with FOREVER GRAND.

Leaving the 400m MAGADI was forced wider on the track by NOUVEAU RICHE.

Leaving the 200m MR. RESISTER was taken in by PACKSYND.

On returning to scale Jockey B Calkin (MAGADI) reported to stewards that trainer C Castles was very upset with his ride and complained he had not ridden his mount right to the line with the whip. After hearing evidence from trainer C Castles, B Calkin and viewing of the patrol film, stewards advised Mr. Castles that they were satisfied with the ride and action may have been taken against B Calkin if he had continued with the whip when his mount was not responding.

Time off 4.40 pm.
