RACE 1: DALBY PRICE RITE CARS BM75 H’CAP – 1400M

TOTAL AUTHORITY – Bumped at the start. When questioned, K. Yoshida reported to stewards that approaching the home turn it was his intention to shift to the outside of ON ICE NOW in a three wide position to obtain clear running, however when his mount failed to quicken as he expected, which he attributed to the horse carrying the top weight today, he elected to shift to the inside in the home straight when clear running presented itself, however the mare ran on only fairly over the concluding stages.

WIMMER WIMMER – Trainer P. Sexton reported that following the horse’s performance today that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

WRITTENINTHERAIN – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

CLARENCE VIEW – Slow to begin. Made contact with the running rail near the 500m, became unbalanced and lost some ground. On return to scale apprentice L. Tilley advised that after being slow to begin, his mount settled further back in the field than he anticipated. He added that during the middle stages, in his opinion, the mare was reluctant racing to the inside of runners and therefore from the 500m he elected to shift the mare to the outside where it ran on strongly over the concluding stages.

STARSTREAMED – Slow to begin.

RACE 3: RUSSELL BEHRENS ELECTRICAL CANNONBALL FLYING OPEN H’CAP – 1000M

GOLDEN TRINKETS – Laid in badly in the early stages.

DIAMOND TRAIL – Bumped on jumping away and lost some ground.

BAM’S BOY – Bumped another runner at the start. Laid out from the 500m and shifted wider on the track. When questioned as to the horse’s performance, N. Evans advised that after beginning well he rode his mount along and obtained the leading position, however over the concluding stages the gelding weakened, which he attributed to the horse being first up for 12 months in today’s event. Jockey Evans added that the manner in which the horse pulled up he expected it to derive a fitness benefit from today’s race.

BRADY ‘N’ ME – Made contact with another runner on jumping away.

AWESOME SIGHT – Began awkwardly.

ELLO ELLO – Bumped heavily at the start.

RACE 4: DES BURNS MEMORIAL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

SECOND HAND LION – Slow into stride.

FOR ME ARGENTINA – Hampered at the start.

MUSICIAN – Bumped on the hindquarters near the 50m.

RACE 5: DALBY ENGINE REBUILDERS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 800M

MARKSFIELD – Momentarily steadied to avoid heels near the 550m. Taken in by JEPTOO (B. Richardson) shortly after the winning post, resulting in runners to the inside having to steady to avoid heels. Apprentice B. Richardson was advised to exercise more care.

KARMA FORCE – Steadied to avoid heels shortly after the winning post.

IMAMODEL – Laid out rounding the turn near the 550m.A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the nearside foreleg. Trainer G. Walters was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next start.

JEPTOO – Apprentice B. Richardson reported that her mount laid in for the duration of the event.

LA TENZA – Steadied when racing in restricted room near the 550m.

A RARE OLD TIME – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

RACE 6: MURRAYS TYRES & MORE BM55 H’CAP – 1400M

MAXENTIUS – Overraced during the middle stages.

RACE 7: SOUTHERN STAR ACADEMY OF DANCE QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1200M

ZIP TO THE MOON – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. Stewards questioned apprentice T. Brooker in relation to her riding of ZIP TO THE MOON. Of concern to stewards was the reason for that gelding racing in a 4 wide position on the pace throughout the event. Apprentice Brooker advised that she was specifically instructed not to lead on the horse today and to ride the horse with cover if possible. She stated that after beginning well she rode her mount along to obtain a forward position, however was reluctant to overly pressure the horse to a leading position bearing in mind her instructions. She added that at a position near the 800m when attempting to shift to a position closer to the rails she received a call from the riders to her inside and as a result corrected her mount and shifted wider on the track at that point. She further added that as a result of this shift outwards, runners improved to her inside which resulted in her racing 4 wide for the remainder of the event. Stewards, whilst noting the explanation of apprentice Brooker, advised her, however, that in their opinion, after beginning well, despite the instructions, it would have been more advantageous for her to pressure her mount more in the early stages which would have enabled her to cross the runners to her inside to a position closer to the rails, which would have given her horse the best opportunity to finish the race off strongly.

PARADISE PINK – Raced wide throughout.

BOLD NAVIGATOR – Bumped heavily on jumping away.

TWEEDIES – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden off the pace. The horse was ridden accordingly.

CHARZOOKA – Bumped heavily on jumping away.

HIDDEN EDITION – Slow to begin.

SUMMER JEWEL – Slow to begin. Finished a distant last. Trainer N. Larkin was advised that the horse would be ineligible to compete at TAB meetings until such time as it establishes competitive country form.
