Race 1: HEDGES SPORTS STORE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1200m
1st –IL PADRONE 2nd – OVER THE VENTURE 3rd – THE PLAYROOM 4th – PSYCHO SAID SO

STRIKING WARRIOR – Slow to begin.

WAR STREET – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

IL PADRONE – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m.

ICE STATION – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Lowe was issued with a severe reprimand for using the whip more than five times prior to the 100m.

THE PLAYROOM – Hung in in the early stages.

FLASH DRAGON – When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice S. Lacy agreed the gelding was disappointing and did not respond to her riding from the home turn, but could offer no tangible explanation for the performance.


Race 2: BOB LAFFEY ELECTRONICS CLASS B H’CAP – 1100m
1st – COCONUT BAY 2nd – MASAKARI 3rd – RICH TRADITION 4th – DEPUTY PECK

LIGHT PHILOU – Trainer G. Postle was fined $100 for failing to submit a gear change by the required time.

WILD ROMANCE – Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Hanna was advised a warning would be placed on the mare.

CRAIG AND PEDRO – Had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 800m to the inside of YANCHA BOY (App. T. Germaine) which hung in away from COCONUT BAY (S. Apthorpe). Jockey S. Apthorpe was advised to exercise more care. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MULTIFOCAL – Had to be steadied from heels near the 800m when racing keenly.

DEPUTY PECK – Hung out rounding the home turn.


Race 3: DALBY HANDYMAN SERVICES OPEN H’CAP – 1000m
1st – G’DAY OLD MATE 2nd – THINKHESAURUS 3rd – WRITTENINTHERAIN 4th – HIZOU

G’DAY OLD MATE – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer B. Squair reported that gelding was having its first start following a spell and was suited by dropping back in distance and class in today’s event.

THINKHESAURUS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 4: MISTER WHIPPY BENCHMARK 45 H’CAP – 1300m
1st – WONGARANDA 2nd – GANADO EXPRESS 3rd – HALL OF PEACE 4th – BLACK SALT

GANADO EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. Hung out leaving the 900m.

CASA CIELLO – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

DHARAVI – Raced keenly in the early stages and had to be steadied from heels near the 900m. Raced wide throughout.

MATILDA MISS – Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons for this horse falling and App. S. Noble (DHARAVI) and B. Appo (BLACK SALT) being dislodged from their mounts over the concluding stages. App. M. Schrapel (MATILDA MISS), App. S. Noble and B. Appo were all transported to hospital for observation.


Race 5: JTW CLEANING SERVICES CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400m
1st – KURRAJONG DRAGON 2nd – CANID 3rd – BAY RUST 4th – CHATEAUROUX

The start of this race was delayed to allow time for a second ambulance to arrive on course.

ROCKLEA RAIDER – Reared in the barriers prior to the start being effected. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

BAY RUST – As App. S. Noble was injured, App. E. Cass was substituted as the rider of the gelding. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

OUR CLARKY – As B. Appo was injured and no senior riders were available, App. B. Derbyshire was substituted as the rider of the gelding.

CANID – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

UNDER THE WEATHER – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey S. Apthorpe reported that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by the tempo of the race, and settled further back in the field than anticipated.
