Following an inspection of the track upon arrival on course stewards upgraded the track to good 3.
 
As R. Plumb (ill), D. McMaster(ill) and T. Banks (personal reasons) were all not riding at the meeting rider replacements were made as per the stewards race day summary.
 
Race 1: FERMOR PLUMBING CLASS 2 HANDICAP
1788M
 
AKUA Began awkwardly. Leavingg the 1000m raced with its head in the air when being restrained. Stewards questioned stable representative M. Currie in regards to the improved performance from the mares recent start at Ipswich on Friday 4 August 2017. Mr Currie advised that the mares form prior to last start was fair and whilst on face value the run at Ipswich looked poor, its late sectional times were some of the best of the race and for that reason the stable were of the view that the greater distance of todayys event would be to the horses benefit. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
LANDED Apprentice H. Phillips could offer no explanation for the poor performance.
 
SWINGING Had to be steadied from heels after passing the winning post on the first occasion when HUKA PELE shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice Z. White was reprimanded for this incident.
 
SUPPLEMENTS Raced wide from the 200m.
 
HUKA PELE Hung out in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed minor lacerations to both hind legs.
 
Jockey G. Geran was reprimanded for use of whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account the totality of jockey Geranns whip use and furthermore his recent return to race riding from an extended injury lay off.
 
Apprentice H. Phillips was reprimanded for use of whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 2: TUFF WELD INDUSTRIES MAIDEN PLATEE 1000M
 
Trainer B. Johnson was fined $100 for not producing the identification card for PLAYBOOK.
 
MISSY ATTITUDE Slow to begin. Checked when tightened for room near the 400m when SMOOTH VELVET improved onto heels and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider whilst racing greenly. Jockey B. Appo reported at scale that the mare raced greenly throughout.
 
SMOOTH VELVET Began awkward. Improved onto heels near the 400m and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider whilst racing greenly.
 
OTTIS Tightened for room at the start. Bumped by another runner near the 250m and forced wider on the track.
 
CORAL SEAS Began awkwardly. After being brushed by another runner near the 250m, shifted out making heavy contact with another runner.
 
SHEZA GOOD GIRL Began awkwardly.
 
KISS ME GOODNIGHT Jockey W. DDAvila reported at scale that the mare raced greenly throughout.
 
LIBERTY JANE Jockey N. Tomizawa accidently dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
 
3: ICON STEEL FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000M
 
PERFECT RAIN- Began awkwardly.
 
CLARAGH- Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 600m. Apprentice D Graham was reminded of her obligations to ride her mount to the conclusion of the event.
 
CHOPHOUSE TEARS- Tightened for room at the start.
 
JEPTOO- Apprentice H. Phillips reported on returning to scale that the mare felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinary inspection of the mare revealed it to have tied up.
 
 
Race 4: DALBY GENERAL STEEL COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000M
 
ZAHA COUNTY Slow to begin.
 
GOLOVKIN Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
WRITTENINTHERAIN Tightened for room at the start.
 
DAZET Raced wide for the majority of the event. Raced in restricted room near the 400m.
 
OUTPUT Jockey B. Stewart could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
 
GOLFING Raced wide for a majority.
 
DRAGON STREET Raced wide for a majority.
 
 
 
Race 5: PAT WEIR MP MEMBER FOR CONDAMINE CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1200M
 
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer C. Smith in relation to the late declaration of J. Oliver as the rider of GRAND EDGEROI.
 
GRAND EDGEROI Tightened for room at the start.
 
FREEZEN EASY Raced wide for the majority.
 
MR METICULOUS Raced wide for the majority.
 
LEADING STORY - Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. Jockey N. Evans was reminded of his obligations to ride her mount to the conclusion of the event.
 
MAKE NO MISTAKE Laid in rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SHORT CHANGED Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 6: GJ GARDNER HOMES DALBY & CHINCHILLA CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M
 
 
Due to transport difficulties Mysticism declared a late scratching at 12:15pm.
 
KARAHARAGA Stewards permitted the gelding to race in bar plates. Apprentice M. Schrapel reported at scale that the gelding hung out rounding the home turn.
 
COOEE MARCH -- Slow to begin.
 
PRICELESS DE HERO Slow to begin.
 
FOMO Bumped at the start. Had too be steadied from heels for some distance near the 800m. Jockey J. Oliver was remindedd of his obligation to ride his mounts to the conclusion of the event.
 
MICKEY DAZZLER -- After being caught wide in the early stages was restrained to a position closer to the rails near the 700m. Near the 500m was steadied from the heels of PARMELIA which laid out and lost ground.
 
BELLA SONG Tightened for room at the start. Raced in restricted room for some distance near the 700m.
 
PARMELIA Steadied from heels near the 700m.
 
BIANCATAK Raced wide for the majority.
 
BEACH HEAD Raced wide for the majority.
 
RENNAM- Slow to begin.
