QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DALBY TURF CLUB – THURSDAY 12 JULY 2018 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 2.5M (600M-300M), TRUE REMAINDER OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. HendersonJockeys Advocate – B. SaundersStewards Secretary – M. Weir Race 1: PAUL KLEIN BOOKMAKING SERVICE BM70 H’CAP – 1788M The start of this race was delayed when DELANEY’S DESIRE dislodged its rider during the preliminary and galloped a short distance before being recaptured. The filly underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. CHARLES THE THIRD – Momentarily held up leaving the 500m. Apprentice S. Sweeney was fined $400 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. DELANEY’S DESIRE – Began awkwardly. Race 2: VIEWING DECK PLATFORM FOR HIRE MAIDEN H’CAP – 2000M THE IRONS – Jumped the crossing at the 1400m. When questioned by Stewards regarding the improved performance, Trainer Mr. J. Gregory advised that, in his opinion, the gelding was not suited to the slow track conditions at its most recent start. He added that, in his opinion, whilst still being a maiden, this race was much weaker than the gelding’s most recent start, and for that reason he had expected a forward showing today. Stewards noted the explanation. CLEAR SAILING – Held up and unable to improve from the 500m until the 150m. HEIRSROC – Jumped the crossing at the 1400m. SOHO FLYER – As jockey L. Tilley was to be overweight, N. Tomizawa was substituted as rider. L. Tilley was fined $100. Race 3: SAVE THE DAY – SAINTS DAY CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1400M The start of this race was delayed when GID UP STROP proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers. GID UP STROP – Bumped by another runner near the 900m. ROCKSETTA – Slow to begin. Held up leaving the 300m until the early stages of the home straight. When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey L. Tilley advised that after being slow to begin, his mount travelled comfortably through the run, however after becoming awkwardly placed, he elected to ride for luck from the 600m, however this resulted in the gelding being held up from the 300m until the early stages of the home straight where, in his opinion, the gelding ran on fairly when able to secure clear running. He added that, in his opinion, the horse would be better suited over greater distances than that of today’s race, particularly when able to secure clear galloping room from the 600m. Stewards noted the explanation. TURKANA – Shifted out on jumping away, and inconvenienced DAZET. MICKEY DAZZLER – Overraced in the early and middle stages. KID CRUIZE – Steadied from heels near the 850m. Bumped by another runner near the 900m. Raced 3 wide after leaving the 800m. Race 4: WATTLESEED KITCHEN QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M ENTERPRISE GRAND – Shifted out whilst racing greenly leaving the 200m resulting in EYE STOPPER being inconvenienced. Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount was inclined to lay out for the majority. LA BEAU RENARD – Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted out abruptly after passing the winning post resulting in Apprentice B. Nothdurft suffering a seemingly harmless fall. Stewards advised stable representative Mr. M. Currie that a warning will be placed on the gelding for its racing manners. STUKWUN - Bumped shortly after the start. EYE STOPPER – Bumped shortly after the start. After being crossed near the 700m, was steadied and shifted out to avoid heels. SET BEAT – Raced 3 wide throughout. SPIRIT’S SILK – Bumped shortly after the start, and then had to be steadied from heels. UNO AMOR – Bumped shortly after the start. Race 7: SAVE THE DAY – LADIES MELBOURNE CUP LUNCHEON CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M EXOTIC SEQUEL – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. INKY BAY – A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery. SUZY’S ROSE – When questioned by Stewards regarding the filly’s improved performance, Trainer Mr. B. Andrew advised that at its most recent start at Gatton the horse was forced to race wide which he felt was to its detriment. He added that as the filly has a history of hitting itself, corrective shoeing was undertaken on the filly by way of the addition of tips, which Mr. Andrew also felt was a contributing factor to the filly’s improved performance. Stewards noted the explanation. SHE’S A KICKER – Apprentice G. Willoughby accidentally dropped her whip leaving the 100m. COOL STINGER – The gelding was reluctant to improve to the inside INKY BAY in the home straight, and proved difficult to ride out. RICH TRADITION – Inclined to lay in in the home straight.
