Race 1: BRAZIER TRAILERS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

The start of this race was delayed to enable an adjustment to be made to the running rail.

RAPIDO GRIS – Slow to begin. Forced wider on the track on entering the home straight.

THE TYLER – Tightened for room on jumping away. Buffeted between runners rounding the home turn.

VERMUTIN – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start. Forced wider on the track on entering the home straight.

REDZEB – Began awkwardly. Bumped rounding the home turn and shifted out abruptly.

THE WAITING MAN – Raced greenly in the home straight.

BY BY MUSIC – Momentarily raced in restricted room passing the 200m.

I’M CALLIN’ DIBS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

PARANOIA – A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which tailed off, revealed no significant findings. Trainer D. Bougoure advised that he will now consider sending the horse for a spell.

DANINA – Dipped near the 1000m. Raced keenly throughout.

Race 2: ERGON ENERGY PLOUGH INN CUP – 1400M

HARRY’S ME BOY – Laid in for the majority of the home straight.

BEGIN – Slow to begin.

SELECT ROYAL – When questioned by Stewards regarding the horse’s performance today, jockey A. Sewell advised that the trainer had informed him that the gelding had begun well at its previous starts however it has a tendency to be caught wide. He added that, as the gelding was second up and stepping up in distance, he elected to begin neutrally in an endeavour to find a position with cover. He went on to say that when the pace slackened the gelding commenced to race keenly, and from the 600m it was held up when awkwardly placed at the heels of a weakening runner and, as a result, was unable to secure clear running until the 200m.

COCO JAMBO – Slow to begin.

DROPLET – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. When questioned by Stewards in relation to the mare’s seemingly improved performance, Trainer M. Kropp advised that, in his opinion, the horse’s form prior to a spell had been quite strong. He added that, when first up from a spell over 1400m, the mare had run adequately, bearing in mind the fitness benefit it would have taken from that event. He went on to say that, when second up at Gympie, the horse had resented the sand kickback on that occasion. He also added that the mare had worked well in preparation for its third up run today and, for that reason, he had expected a forward showing.

KOHIKO – Jockey K. Yoshida accidentally dropped his whip near the 100m.

TWOGOBOOM – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 3: STUART QUINALOW DESCENDANTS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M

GOLDEN STREET – When questioned by Stewards in relation to his vigour on the mare over the final stages, jockey J. Oliver advised that near the 200m it appeared that runners to either side of his mount had commenced to shift ground and, for that reason, he stopped riding for a short distance. Jockey Oliver noted that he rode the mare out from this point in a limited hands and heels fashion however, after viewing the patrol footage, acknowledged that he could have placed his mount under stronger riding over the final stages of the race. Stewards were satisfied that the horse’s overall finishing position had not been compromised on this occasion, however they advised jockey Oliver that they expect him to ride his mounts out stronger than he did on this occasion.

WINNINGTON – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the gelding’s seemingly disappointing performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that his mount had failed to show its customary speed today, and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have handled the firm track conditions today, and when placed under pressure it failed to respond to his riding and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

REGNANT – Trainer J. Smerdon was fined $100 for the late declaration of R. Goltz as rider.

ALL ELLIE – Trainer K. Geran was fined $100 for presenting the horse to the enclosure with incorrect gear.

EDENANNIE – Shifted out on jumping away.

SUPER KEAN – Slow to begin.

Race 4: SAINTS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M

JACKSON STORM – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey E. Ljung reported that, in her opinion, the gelding had jarred up today. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no significant findings.

LINE UP – Began awkwardly and bumped ELOQUENT BELLE.

CHARGING CLEAR – Shifted in under pressure passing the 150m.

ELOQUENT BELLE – Trainer B. Loakes was fined $100 for the late declaration of Apprentice N. Fazackerley as rider. Bumped on jumping away. Apprentice N. Fazackerley reported that, in his opinion, the mare had jarred up today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near fore leg. Trainer B. Loakes was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

INVINCIBLE KING – Hung out rounding the home turn.

SHEQER CROI – Steadied from heels shortly after the start. Trainer S. Neylon was advised that in light of the performance today, the nomination of the mare at TAB meetings will be refused until such time as its country form improves.

Race 5: AL COCKERILL BENCHMARK 58 H’CAP – 1788M

MOHAKA RIVER – Became fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected and, as a result, struck its head on the barrier upright and lost significant ground. Apprentice M. Wishart, who also struck her head on the barrier upright as a result of this incident, was assessed by Queensland Ambulance Officers and stood down from her remaining engagements. Apprentice Wishart was advised that she will require a medical clearance, including the results of an after injury cognitive test, prior to resuming riding. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. A post-race veterinary examination of MOHAKA RIVER revealed that the horse had sustained a laceration to its forehead. Connections advised that it is now their intention for the horse to be retired. Nevertheless, connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

Race 6: TAB DALBY CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1400M

BOILING – Hung out throughout.

PASTICHE – As Apprentice M. Wishart was stood down following Race 5, Stewards permitted jockey E. Ljung to ride the mare when no other suitable apprentice was available. Laid in throughout.

Race 7: HENRY FAMILY OPEN H’CAP – 1000M

The start of this race was delayed when CLASSIC BEAU became fractious and got its hind leg cast in the barriers. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 3.57pm on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on CLASSIC BEAU be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

0 cents in the dollar for the Win #2
1 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
3 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #4

THE MECHANIC – Raced keenly in the early stages.

TOCCO D’ORO – Trainer M. Johnstone was fined $100 for the late declaration of Apprentice Z. White as rider.

GOLFING – As Apprentice M. Wishart was stood down following Race 5, Stewards permitted jockey S. Apthorpe to ride the gelding when no other suitable apprentice was available.

Race 8: HON DAVID LITTLE PROUD MP BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1200M

CRAB BOY – Dipped rounding the home turn. Held up approaching the 200m and again near the 150m.

Fazackerley advised that, in his opinion, the horse did not handle the firm track conditions today. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant findings.
