QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DALBY TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 9 MAY 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3RAIL – 2.5M (600M-300M), TRUE (REMAINDER) OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. HendersonStewards Secretary – M. Weir Race 1: D&NDJC QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 800M SPECIAL CASE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. MINTY BOY – Raced greenly in the home straight. STRAIGHT JANE – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer N. King regarding the late declaration of N. Morton as rider. Hung in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out. BOO – Jockey R. Faehr reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout. DUREADY – Slow to begin. BRIGALOW QUEEN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. PRINCESS KNIGHT – Bumped at the start. Dipped on a number of occasions passing the 600m. Raced greenly in the home straight. COALBANK CAVALRY – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages when SPECIAL CASE (H. Richardson) shifted in. Jockey H. Richardson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. Race 2: D&NDJC QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 800M FLUGLE – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer N. King to remove all gear from the gelding. Trainer N. King was fined $200 for failing to effect a gear change by the prescribed time. MR NODDY – Shifted away from heels shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CHEESIE – Hung in in the early stages. MISS ATOB – Slow to begin. MISS CRUISEY – Began awkwardly. Jockey G. Steele reported that her mount pulled up in a distressed state and, as a result, she dismounted from the filly on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no significant findings. WUNULLA LADY – Slow to begin. MISS PIXIE – Hung out from the 500m. Raced greenly in the home straight. Race 3: D&NDJC MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M The start of this race was delayed when OUR SPIDER got its leg up in the barriers. The gelding was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. COCO JAMBO – Raced wide throughout. DINNY’S A SUSPECT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey N. Morton was fined $300 under AR. 208(2)(a) for failing to weigh in. In determining penalty, Stewards were mindful that jockey Morton has not previously breached this rule. TALES OF THE HEART – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. When improving into a run near the 150m between VERVE, which as laying in, and FEELING THORNY, which was laying out, the gelding shifted out across the heels of VERVE to secure clear running. FEELING THORNY – Bumped approaching the 500m and became unbalanced. JUST FOR GLORY – Bumped approaching the 500m and became unbalanced. Following the running of this race, Stewards inspected a section of the track between the 600m and the 400m after a number of jockeys raised concerns about the uneven surface of the track in that location. After some remedial work was undertaken by the Club, Stewards were satisfied to proceed with the remainder of the meeting. Race 4: D&NDJC BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1300M DAISY’S APART – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey H. Richardson reported that her saddle shifted forward near the 1200m and, as a result, the mare commenced to hang out which placed her at a disadvantage throughout. Raced 4 wide throughout. THIS IS LIVIN’ – Lost ground whilst being restrained near the 900m. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 150m. PRIMMISCUOUS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. AKLAVIK – Stewards permitted jockey N. Morton to ride the gelding 1.5kg over its allotted weight when no other rider was available. Jockey N. Morton was fined $100 for being overweight. CELTIC TIGER – Laid in under pressure leaving the 150m. Race 5: D&NDJC BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1300M TONY’S DECREE – On return to scale, Apprentice T. Townsend reported that the gelding raced flat today and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no significant findings. THIRD MARTINI – Shifted in leaving the 200m. Had difficulty securing clear running and shifted in near the 100m. MAMZAR – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. STORMBORN ANGEL – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. BLACK ENVY – Lost its offside winker near the 1200m. D’GREAT BEAUTY – Jumped with its head in the air. Race 6: D&NDJC BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 800M COMESIDICE – Began awkwardly. CARTLAND – Stewards permitted jockey N. Morton to ride the mare 1kg over its allotted weight when no other rider was available. Jockey N. Morton was fined $100 for being overweight. Began awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near hind leg. Trainer C. Vick was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing. LAST ROUND – Jumped with its head in the air. Tightened for room shortly after the start, and then a short distance later was further tightened and lost ground. Race 7: D&NDJC OPEN H’CAP – 1200M BALIUS – Apprentice S. Stephan lost the use of her near side iron at the start which resulted in her mount losing ground. MAC'S BOY – Forced wider on the track near the 800m. Bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced near the 600m. CLIVEDEN – Commenced to overrace near the 1000m, and was awkwardly placed at heels shifted wider on the track. MADLUCE MISSILE – Forced wider on the track near the 800m and became awkwardly placed at heels. Tightened for room when CLIVEDEN shifted out leaving the 600m, and became awkwardly placed at heels and lost its position. Apprentice T. Townsend, the rider of CLIVEDEN, pleaded guilty to a charge of carless riding under AR. 131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MADLUCE MISSILE resulting in that runner being tightened for room and awkwardly placed at heels, and then losing its position. Apprentice Townsend’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight on Saturday 9 May 2020 and conclude at midnight on Tuesday 19 May 2020. In determining penalty, Stewards were mindful that Apprentice Townsend had recently returned from a prior suspension. Race 8: D&NDJC BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1100M CRAFTY AQUILA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. DIGGITY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. MOUNTEBANK – Began awkwardly and made contact with the gate on jumping and, as a result, lost ground. RAKU’S SECRET – Laid in over the concluding stages.
