GENERAL

As S. Lacy had riding engagements at another venue, a riding replacement was made in Race 1 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

As Apprentice I. Rabjones was not attending the meeting today due to injury, a riding replacement was made in Race 6 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: G C DRIVING SCHOOL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

MYKISS FROMA ROSE – On return to scale, jockey A. Chau reported that his mount travelled comfortably in the early stages, however when asked to quicken approaching the home turn, the mare began to travel only reasonably and was immediately under pressure. He added that the mare failed to run on in the home straight as he had anticipated and, in his opinion, proved disappointing. Trainer M. Boland advised that MYKISS FROMA ROSE had been working well in the lead up to today’s race, and he was therefore unable to offer any explanation for its disappointing performance. Mr. Boland undertook to report to Stewards in the coming days should anything come to light which may explain the mare’s performance.

ANTIPODEAN LAD – Bumped on jumping.

LET SARA ROCK – Began awkwardly.

Race 2: G J GARDNER DALBY / CHINCHILLA MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

DINNY’S A SUSPECT – On return to scale, jockey N. Morton reported that her saddle shifted back during the race which placed her at a disadvantage throughout.

BISHOJO – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground. Steadied from heels near the 700m when EFFEXX (M. Palmer) shifted in marginally. Jockey M. Palmer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

HOWITZER – Bumped by another runner and forced wider on the track near the 700m.

MISS BULITZ – Overraced in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to restrain.

Race 3: BRAZIER SPARE PARTS FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400M

Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer J. Judge regarding the late declaration of Apprentice M. Savva as the rider of BOLTIN’ DESIRE.

No racing incidents.

Race 4: ICON STEEL COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400M

The start of this race was delayed when OCTAVIAN cast a plate during the preliminary and required farrier attention upon arriving at the barriers.

OCTAVIAN – Jockey P. Hamblin reported that the gelding failed to travel strongly on the bit in the early and middle stages, however it ran on well in the home straight. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding would be suited, at this stage of its preparation, by the addition of blinkers to its gear and a step up in distance for its future starts.

FLASH AAH – As the gelding had not raced for over 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Jumped with its head in the air. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn and then shifted in under pressure in the home straight.

LUCKY MACHU – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.

GETS SMOKIN’ – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 700m.

WALKINSHAW – Raced wide without cover throughout.

MAN OVERBOARD – Began well and, as a result, settled further forward in the field than anticipated. Apprentice T. Townsend was reprimanded for using her whip on more occasions than permitted prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Townsend’s prior good record in relation to this rule.

Race 5: MURRAY’S TYRES AND MORE BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1000M

HIGHTOWER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

ALEJANDRA – Jumped in the air at the start, and was then tightened for room shortly after. On return to scale, Apprentice A. Patis reported that her mount failed to handle today’s racing surface and was reluctant to stride out in the early and middle stages.

GIBBO’S GIRL – Tightened for room at the start.

FLYING YANKEE – Jumped out at the start and made contact with another runner.

IBERIAN LACE – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

Race 6: DALBY LEAGUES CLUB BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1000M

ELJETEM – Tightened for room shortly after the start, lost ground and then failed to muster early speed when CASH’N’RUN shifted out after being taken out by CHAMBERLAIN.

CHAMBERLAIN – Dipped of its own accord near the 500m.

WINDS OF CHANGE – As the gelding had not raced for over 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SUPERSONIC BOOM – Jockey E. Ljung reported that after beginning well, it was her intention to obtain a forward position, however due to the superior pace drawn to her outside, she was forced to race in a midfield position. She added that the gelding travelled only reasonably during the race, and when placed under pressure in the home straight ran on only fairly. Following the event, connections advised that the gelding had sustained superficial abrasions to both hind legs consistent with it being galloped on.
