GENERAL
 
As jockey W. O’Connell was not riding at the meeting due to illness rider replacements were made as per the stewards summary
 
 
Race1: TAB BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP- 1788m
 
SCHWARZY- Trainer K. Jones advised of a change of tactics for SCHWARZY to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. The gelding was ridden accordingly.
 
SHELTER LADY- Fractious in the barriers.
 
RESONARE- Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PIRELLI- Began awkwardly.
 
BALIUS- After being caught wide during the early stages was allowed to stride forward to a leading position near the 1200m.
 
 
 
Race 2: TAB FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m
 
The start was delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event.
 
The start was further delayed when GRAND GIFT became fractious in the barriers, which resulted it in requiring an adjustment to its bridle.
 
COFFEE COMING- Began awkwardly.
 
GRAND GIFT- Began awkwardly.
 
STAZZANA- Began awkwardly. Hung out during the middle stages and was eased near the 500m when racing in restricted room.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: TAB COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE- 1000m
 
MOTION SENSOR- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
SOX ROCKS- Hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
 
CAUGHT REDHANDED- Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
BILL OF RIGHTS- Blundered approaching the 700m and as a result was restrained by its rider and lost ground proving uncompetitive for the remainder of the event. As trainer K. Sims had left the course prior to the gelding being examined by the veterinary surgeon stewards will contact Mr. Sims in the days following todays event in relation to the horses post race recovery.
 
AVISION- Hung in throughout the event. Steadied near the 150m. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance jockey J.Taylor advised that after beginning well his mount raced greenly throughout and was reluctant to travel between other runners. He further advised that the gelding may be more suited to a further distance in future starts where it could possibly find a leading position. Stewards noted jockey J. Taylors explanation.
 
Race 4: TAB CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1400m
 
YEAH THE BOYS- Began very awkwardly, shifting wider on the track.
 
LOUIE LA’JOY- Forced very wide on the track at the start by another runner and lost ground.
 
KENTFORD- Forced wider on the track at the start by another runner.
 
SMOKEY DIAMOND- Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
JOCHBERG- Shifted out on jumping, bumping another runner.
 
STAR ADELE- Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 600m.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 5: TAB CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 800m
 
Start was delayed when STRAWBERRY DELUXE cast a near hind plate in the enclosure and as a result required the attention of the farrier. The start was further delayed when HIDDEN EYES refused to load and was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 3:30pm. Trainer D Baker was advised the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.
 
CHEESIE- Inclined to lay in the home straight.
 
BEGIN- Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
STRAWBERRY DELUXE- Checked badly when tightened on jumping.
 
HE’S NOT FOCUSED- Began awkwardly severely tightening runners to the inside. Hung out rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in in the home straight.
 
ACCEPTILE- Began awkwardly. Forced wider by another runner rounding the home turn.
 
Race 6: TAB CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200m
 
ANTIPODEAN LAD- Upon returning to scale jockey H. Philips advised that in her opinion the gelding felt short in its action during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion near hind consistent with being gallop on.
 
SELECT ROYAL- Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m and lost ground.  Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
LOVE FLIES- At a point approaching the 500m was bumped by another runner to the inside.
 
TOP SOCIETY- Bumper by another runner leaving the 500m.
 
SINGLE AGAIN- Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: TAB BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP – 1200m
 
RUN PAM RUN- Trainer D. Reynolds was fined $100 under LR.67 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
 
DIGGITY- Began awkwardly making contact with another runner.
 
NINE CIGARS- Tightened at the start and lost ground.
 
HAVASHOUT- Began awkwardly.
 
WAIT A MINUTE- Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
RUN THE CUTTER- Raced in restricted room and lost ground leaving the 800m.
 
RATHER SALUBRIOUS (NZ)- Began awkwardly.
