SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
21st August, Roma Turf Club:
 
Trainer D Reynolds was found guilty of a charge under AR228(b) in that at the Roma Turf Club meeting on the 21st of August, in the vicinity of the parade ring, he did use offensive and obscene language towards licenced trainer B Waldron. Trainer D Reynolds was subsequently fined $300. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of his exemplary record and that any penalty must serve as a deterrent.
 
GENERAL
 
As Apprentice I. Rabjones was unable to claim her full allowance in Race 1 and unable to ride down to her minimum riding weight in Race 2, she was replaced as per the race day summary. Apprentice I Rabjones was subsequently fined $200 under AR190(3). In assessing penalty, stewards were mindful of her record in relation to this rule.
 
Due to technical difficulties with the stewards patrol footage, stewards directed that all races be put back one timeslot with Race 10 to jump at 5:33pm.
 
 
Race 1: HENRY FAMILY Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when Past Price underwent a gear adjustment.
 
The start was further delayed when Roseta Lass proved difficult to load.
 
Tisani Emperor – Laid in during the early stages.
 
Past Price – Underwent a gear adjustment whilst behind the barriers. Shifted out abruptly on jumping.
 
Mr Dudwey – Laid in passing the 800m. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Matilda Gene – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Inclined to lay out for a distance passing the 700m. Held up for clear running the early part of the home straight.
 
Better In Than Out – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Shifted in abruptly near the 100m.
 
Roseta Lass – Difficult to load. Trainer M Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the filly.
 
Midnight Waltz – Raced three wide throughout. Jockey H Phillips was fined $300 under AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
 
Race 2: OUR LADY OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS COLLEGE Maiden
Handicap 1100 metres
 
Tycoon Cruiser – Near the 900m was steadied and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of Kingdom Reign. Near the 500m bumped with Whistlin’ Ruler. Jockey B. Andrews could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Kingdom Reign – Reluctant to leave the parade ring with the application of the cross over noseband for the first time. As a result, Stewards permitted the gelding to race without this gear.
 
Taboo – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to a laceration in the offside nostril.  Apprentice N Fazackerley was fined $300 under AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight. Trainer M Currie was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the mare for being fractious in the barriers.
 
Whistlin' Ruler – Raced three wide and without cover throughout. Near the 900m was steadied when Tycoon Cruiser shifted out. Near the 500m bumped with Tycoon Cruiser. 
 
Path Ahead – Near the 400m blundered and clipped heels when Doobie Ruby laid in.
 
Jaybe Herschelle – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
Doobie Ruby – Slow to begin. Jockey S Fawke was fined $300 under AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
 
Miserable – Approaching the winning post was awkwardly placed on the heels of Jaybe Herschelle and was forced to restrain.
 
The Angels Kiss – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight resulting in Apprentice S Stephan being unable to fully test her mount in the home straight.
 
Minaj A Star – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 3: DELMIC STEEL SALES Class 2 Handicap 800 metres
 
Kipchoge – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Palicki – Began awkwardly.
 
Proudly Grey – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
Bobbie Jo – Severely checked passing the winning post when Leica Special shifted in. Apprentice A Jones (the rider of Leica Special) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a). The particulars being that approaching and passing the winning post she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Bobbie Jo, resulting in that runner being tightened for room, severely checked and lost ground. Apprentice A Jones’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 1/10/2021 and to expire at midnight 14/10/2021. In assessing penalty, stewards determined that the carelessness was in the mid-range and took into consideration Apprentice Jones’s poor record in relation to careless riding offences.
 
Longshot Lizzie – Slow to begin. Near the 400m was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels.
 
Leica Special – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Millions Star – Leaving the 100m had to be steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room. Over the concluding stages had to be steadied when crowded by Dulc’n’len which was taken in by Special Case (C Jokic) shifted in. Jockey Jokic was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a).
 
Race 4: ERGON PLOUGH INN CUP Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by apprentice A Jones (Idling By) alleging interference against the winner (Fiorcast) in the home straight. After hearing submission from connections, it was established that near the 300m Idling By was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Sir Louie, which shifted out. Further, near the 200m, Fiorcast shifted in when not clear resulting in Idling By having to steady when awkwardly placed on heels. Giving consideration to the nature of the interference, the way both horses finished the race off and the margin of a length, stewards couldn’t be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred, Idling By would have finished in advance of Fiorcast and subsequently dismissed the objection.
 
Canny Cat – Leaving the 800m was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Held up and was unable to improve from the 700m. 
 
Fiorcast – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Gracious Knight – Bumped with Sir Louie near the 800m. Near the 400m was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Idling By (A Jones) which shifted out to improve when insufficiently clear. A Jones was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
Leadburn Lion – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover.
 
Sethlans – Declared a late scratching at 10:12am by order of stewards on veterinary advice. Trainer B Hay was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

Sir Louie – Shifted out on jumping and bumped Let’s Boom.
 
Idling By – Leaving the 400m momentarily raced in restricted room when improving to the inside of Gracious Knight. Near the 300m was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Sir Louie (K Yoshida) which shifted out. K Yoshida was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Near the 200m was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Fiorcast (G Geran) which shifted in. G Geran was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
Let's Boom – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide and without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 5: TAB DALBY CUP OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
Rather Salubrious (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn when Eskdale Girl (K Yoshida) shifted in marginally. K Yoshida was advised to exercise more care.
 
Zeppelin – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
Smokey Diamond – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Harbour Trick – Performed below market expectations. Apprentice A Jones reported that the  gelding felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
Eskdale Girl – Jockey K Yoshida was fined $400 under AR132(5) in that he used his whip on 16 occasions during the race.
 
Mighty Moose – Began awkwardly.
 
Vermutin – Bumped on jumping.
 
Abb Roy – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m was steadied.
 
Race 6: STAG MACHINERY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Phionaix – Hung out rounding the home turn. Apprentice J. Cornish could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have had a poor post race recovery.
 
Sea Echo – Began awkwardly. Jockey B Andrews pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(5) in that she used her whip on 19 occasions during the race. Jockey B Andrews licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 18/10/21 and to expire at midnight 25/10/21.
 
And Over Again – Slow to begin.
 
Angels Share – Held up for clear running near the 100m.
 
Race 7: TOM FRITH MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Wait A Minute – Tightened for room and lost ground.
 
Misslleers – Checked and lost ground over the concluding stages.  
 
Touch Of Bali – Began awkwardly. Near the 350m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on heels of Bloodblister (S Fawke) which shifted out. S Fawke was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a).
 
Lucky Time – Began awkwardly. Severely Checked over the concluding stages when Whistlin’ Arrow (B Newport) shifted out. Jockey B Newport pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Love Ya Blue, making significant contact with that runner and it being severely checked before being taken onto Misslleers which was also checked and lost ground. Jockey B Newport’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 21/9/21 and to expire midnight 4/10/21. In assessing penalty, stewards determined that the carelessness was in the mid-range and took into consideration Jockey Newports guilty plea and record.
 
Love Ya Blue – Raced wide and without cover.
 
Deubank – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 8: DALBY & NORTHERN DOWNS JOCKEY CLUB BENCHMARK 55
Handicap 1200 metres
 
Valar Dohaeris – Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground.
 
My Zebrinka – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Momentarily held up upon straightening.
 
Snap On – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
Avision – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
High Rewards – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 900m. Raced wide and without cover.
 
The Old Bird (NZ) – Stewards permitted the mare to race without the tongue tie. Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Very Soon – Began very awkwardly. Apprentice A Jones was fined $400 under AR131(b) in that she failed to ride her mount out to the finish.
 
Race 9: BUTCHERS PANTRY RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight rider of the fourth-place getter S Fawke (Sistine Avenue) view the patrol footage to ascertain if there were grounds for an objection. After viewing the patrol footage, he elected not to continue with a formal objection.
 
Boomi's Buddy – Raced wide and without cover throughout.
 
Royalspector – Raced wide with cover throughout. Shifted out under pressure for a short distance approaching the 100m.
 
East Esplanade – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
Petralia – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Modern Family – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Sistine Avenue – Slow to begin.
 
Race 10:G J GARDNER HOMES DALBY & CHINCHILLA RATINGS BAND
0 - 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Ultimate Power – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover throughout.
 
Little Jerry – Upon return to scale apprentice W Peel reported that something may have been amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
Ruby Rush – Near the 150m improved onto heels was steadied. 
 
Boltin’ Desire – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
