QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DALBY & NORTHERN DOWNS JOCKEY CLUB DALBY – SATURDAY 5th FEBRUARY 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 7 Races 1 & 2; Soft 6 Race 3-6 RAIL – +2.5m 600m-300m; True the remainder OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – M MoodyVeterinarian – Dr J PostleSwab Attendants – Dr J PostleStarter – I Henderson Race 1: THE DEVILS CLASS B HANDICAP 800m WIDE LOAD- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow into stride. Inclined to lay out for the majority. Laid out passing the 600m hampering a runner to its outside. Jockey P Randall was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. PLENTTY OF TICKER- Fractious in the barrier. Bumped with another runner on jumping. GOLDEN SYMPHONY- Buffeted between runners on jumping. MR STACK- Began awkwardly. Obliged to restrain passing the 600m when a runner to the inside shifted out. BIG TALK- Bumped with another runner on jumping. FOX ON THE ROCKS- Raced wide for the majority. Race 2: BUNYA CHALLENGE MAIDEN PLATE 1000m REUBEN’S DECREE- Refused to proceed to the barrier, becoming fractious and dislodging App O Webb in the preliminary. The mare was subsequently declared a late scratching by Stewards at 1:27pm. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 1:27pm: 37 cents in the dollar for win bets23 cents in the dollar on place bets Trainer D Baker was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily under race day conditions prior to again being permitted to start in a race. App Webb was uninjured in the incident. CONLEY BELL- Difficult to load. Fractious in the barrier. Slow to begin. Inclined to race ungenerously throughout. Trainer K Afford was advised the filly would be required to obtain two further consecutive barrier certificates prior to again being permitted to start in a race. FINAL PICK- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted in when not fully clear of another runner approaching the 100m. App Z Sprie will be reprimanded as a result of this incident. RIVA’S ANGEL- Bumped with another runner on jumping. FRIDAYS JET- Slow to begin. Awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start having to be eased momentarily. Inclined to race ungenerously for some distance leaving the 700m. Obliged to steady and shift in to avoid heels approaching the 100m when a runner to the outside shifted in when not fully clear. TRUBOOM- Obliged to steady passing the 700m when a runner to the inside shifted out when not fully clear. MADAME TESS- Shifted out passing the 700m when not fully clear of another runner. Jockey P Randall will be reprimanded as a result of this incident. Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Soft 6. Race 3: DALBY LEAGUES CLUB CANNONBALL FLYING OPEN HANDICAP 1000m VERTICAL- Awkwardly placed on heels soon after jumping. Race 4: THE DIEHARDS FOR 2022 QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP(1) 1200m Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view patrol footage of the start. After determining that HEAT (App Z Sprie) had been afforded a fair start and it was the actions of the gelding, which reared as the start was effected, that resulted in App Sprie being dislodged and the gelding not taking part in the race correct weight was declared on the Judges numbers. Trainers A Simpson and D Urand were advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. COALBANK CAVALRY- Slow into stride. Under pressure early to maintain contact with the field, consequently assumed a trailing position throughout. ZUIICHI- Laid out rounding the home turn becoming awkwardly placed on heels. HARRY’S ME BOY- Raced wide for the majority. POINT THE WAGON- Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: A LEAGUE OF IT’S OWN QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP(2) 1200m LIVE MUSIC- Stood flat footed as the start was effected losing considerable ground. Trainer N Hocking was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. SPANKY BANDIT- Bumped with another runner on jumping. PETITE ELLE- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Inclined to over-race in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the 600m and again approaching the 400m. Race 6: BISTRO 87 BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400m Due to a clerical error PRINCESS KAYO and MONICA ROOM were not displayed as wearing blinkers in the official program but were to wear that piece of gear. Patrons were made aware by way of oncourse announcement. THE ANGELS KISS- Fractious in the barrier. NOT LIABLE- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner. PARANGAS- Dwelt in the barrier and was slow into stride. Trainer B Waldron will be advised a warning will be placed on the mare as a result. SEEKING GUIDANCE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. LEXINGTON LAD- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with another runner. Raced wide for the majority. PRINCESS KAYO- Bumped with another runner on jumping. BONVILLE- Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground. MONICA ROOM- Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground.
