RISE’N’SHINE- Slow into stride. Bumped passing the 500m.

BOULT- Shifted out and bumped.

HE’S VIRAL- Bumped on jumping and shifted out. Raced keenly on heels near the 1500m and the 1300m having to be eased on both occasions. Took the 1400m course proper crossing awkwardly. Stewards queried App A Donalds decision to persist with her efforts to obtain a marginal run to the outside of BLAVATSKY from the 200m when there appeared to be more sufficient running room to that runners inside. App Donald advised that in the early stages of the hoe straight and approaching the 200m BLAVATSKY had been inclined to lay in which is why she elected to attempt to improve to that runners outside. Passing the 200m however BLAVATSKY had commenced to lay out and FIREBOX had also laid in under pressure narrowing that run to which she had already committed. Stewards noted App Donalds explanation.

ZOUESAY- Raced wide passing the 800m before shifting back in and commenced to tire and lose ground from that point on. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-hind. Trainer K Jones advised connections would now consider the geldings immediate racing future. Nonetheless, Mr Jones was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

PARUES- Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards reviewed the official patrol footage to ascertain the circumstances in which App J Molloy became dislodged on jumping and determine whether the gelding was afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from Starter Mr I Henderson and App J Molloy Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR204, declared PARUES a non-runner as prior to the start being effected the gelding had become fractious causing App Molloy to lose his nearside iron and whilst being assisted in regathering it by an Attendant the start had been effected by the starter in effect leaving PARUES riderless at the time the start was effected. On declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers:

21cents in the dollar for the win
7cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
30cents in the dollar for 2nd place
22cents in the dollar for 3rd place

Given the circumstances, no other action was taken, other than Starter I Henderson undertaking to review the communication processes at the barriers. App J Molloy was examined by QAS officers and declared free of any injury and fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
