Obliged to steady leaving the 600m when ROSEFINCH shifted in when not fully clear.

LUMIERE – Began awkwardly and bumped. Held-up for clear running rounding the home-turn. Attempted to improve into a marginal run near the 200m, and in doing so bumped with WAYFARER’S WAY. Bumped again with that runner approaching the 100m.

WAYFARER'S WAY – Began awkwardly. Laid in and bumped with LUMIERE near the 200m when that runner improved into a marginal run. Bumped again approaching the 100m. Race 2: LADBROKES BET TICKER MAIDEN PLATE (1000m)

IDHANA – Began awkwardly and bumped.

LEGAL CAUSE – Slow to begin. A post-race recovery revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of heat stress and to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer M. Lakey was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

NEWELL BEACH – Held-up for clear running rounding the home-turn. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages when awkwardly placed on the heels of IDHANA.

GLAD RAG DOLL – Began awkwardly before attempting to buck in the early stages of the event. Trainer J. Edwards was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s record.

RUBIX LOVE – Stewards acceded to a late gear request from Trainer C. Zintilis for the application of blinkers to the mare. In assessing the matter, Steward noted the mare’s previous racing manners, having incurred a suspension from hanging in its only start without blinkers and having recently passed that embargo in blinkers. As such, the mare was permitted to wear blinkers in the interest of safety. Mr Zinitilis was subsequently fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR206(2) for failing to submit the gear request by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly. Shifted out when not fully clear of SHE’S MY LADY near the 300m and carried that runner wider. Apprentice B. Wheeler was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding. Stewards noted that the mare’s racing manners exacerbated the incident. Carried wider rounding the home-turn when SIMILAR SITUATION laid out and bumped SHE’S MY LADY. Hung-out over the concluding stages and passing the winning post proving difficult to pull up. Mr Zinitilis was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record for hanging-out.

5 cents for the win
5 cents for the place on the win
5 cents for second place
11 cents for third place

A further post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Acting on this advice, no further action was taken.

SIRI SAY RUBICK – Raced in restricted room rounding the home-turn. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey L. Dempsey advised that the mare, which was first-up for the preparation became under pressure over the concluding stages and weakened. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

POINT BREAK – Began awkwardly. Held-up for clear running approaching the 200m and shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-hindleg. Trainer K. Jones was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a tendon injury to the near-foreleg. Trainer J. Dann was advised a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ultrasound prior to completing a satisfactory barrier trial would be required prior to racing again.

DIVAS REIGN – Bumped over the concluding stages when racing tight with ALONTRO. Apprentice J. Williams pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding in that passing the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of LONJOURNO, which was hampered, cease riding and having to take hold before shifting in. Apprentice William’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, commencing Wednesday, 11 December 2024 up to and including Thursday, 19 December 2024. In assessing the matter, Stewards considered the interference to be in the low range, however the carelessness to be in the mid-range. Stewards further noted Apprentice Williams’ guilty plea and apprentice status, however that these were mitigated by this being Apprentice William’s poor record for careless riding in the preceding 12 months. Apprentice Williams was advised of his rights to an appeal.

LITERACY – Bumped on jumping. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Taylor advised the gelding became under pressure from the 500m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer T. Churchill was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

TWOPENCE – Began awkwardly and bumped.

WIFE IS RIGHT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ALONTRO – Bumped over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, Trainer R. Lipp advised that the gelding was better suited being ridden more conservatively on this occasion, which had been consistent with the instructions issued at its previous start for the new stable, however it had been unable to obtain cover on that occasion. He further added the gelding had benefited from being second-up for the preparation following an extended spell prior to that start. Stewards noted the explanation.

MISTA OMEGA – Began awkwardly. Over-raced throughout the early and middle stages when the pace of the race slackened. Raced wide from the 500m. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice C. Lowe stated that the slow tempo in the early and middle stages proved detrimental to the gelding’s ability to improve into the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SUPER QUICK – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the gelding leading, Jockey N. Fazackerley stated after the gelding began well from an inside barrier, and when he identified a lack of intention from any other runner to obtain the lead, he elected to allow the gelding to race more prominently on this occasion. He further added that while he was able to sustain slow early and middle sectionals, in his opinion, the gelding is better ridden with cover as it had done so in its previous starts. Stewards noted the explanation.

ARCHER'S GAME – Crowded between runners on jumping.

ALL I WANT IS YOU – Raced keenly in the early stages when the pace of the race slackened. Improved onto heels near the 650m having to be steadied. Steadied and shifted in near the 200m when MOORABINDA MICK shifted out.

Murphy pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish, which in the Stewards’ opinion, had the potential to compromise the gelding’s chances of finishing third, noting the nose margin between MORDECAI and MAYBE SMART (fourth-placegetter).Jockey Murphy was subsequently fined the sum of $200. In assessing the matter, Stewards noted that Jockey Murphy’s actions had the potential to affect prize-money allocated to connections and place betting, as well as his recent record in relation to the rule.
