GENERAL

Prior to the commencement of this meeting Stewards and Senior Riders inspected the racing surface near the inside running rail entering the home straight up to and including the 200m point. Riders agreed to proceed with the meeting as this section of the track posed no safety concerns.

Stewards permitted the following weight variations for this meeting- Race 9- Jky J Huxtable +.5kg, Jky Y Lewis +.10kg.

Race 1- LADBROKES FOORM GENIUS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M

DEL TITO- Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.

FIRE AND LIGHT- Raced wide without cover for the majority.

WIREWALKER- Laid out when rounding the home turn bumping VICOUNT SYDNEY.

ILEGITIMO- Stewards ordered a pre-race veterinary examination to be undertaken due to a previous injury that occurred. This examination resulted in the horse being passed fit to race at today’s meeting. Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Stewards ordered a post -race veterinary examination to be undertaken which revealed no abnormalities.

HURRICANE ROSIE- Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Appr Jky A Graham was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

CACTUS CAN- Jky N Fazackerley was replaced by Jky A Thompson due to Jky Fazackerley being overweight. Stewards acting under the provision of AR190(3) issued a reprimand to Jky Fazackerley and accepted his explanation and that the engagement was a late pick-up ride and the 3rd emergency in the race. Laid out rounding the home turn.

Race 2- ANZA BONANZA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m

COLE’S BEST-Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out in the home straight.

GOOD RESULTS- Stewards acting under the provision of LR67(1) issued a fine of $100 to Trainer Mr J Moore for his late declaration of a rider by the prescribed time.

ROSTOPCHIN- Made heavy contact with the barrier prior to the start being affected. On returning to the mounting yard the mare was found to have bled from both nostrils. A post-race veterinary examination ordered by stewards confirmed the bilateral bleed. Trainer Mr P Wallace was advised that ROSTOPCHIN under the provisions of AR79(4), would incur a 3 month ban from racing and would be required to undergo and pass a 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards. Veterinary advice confirmed that the contact did not contribute to the bleed and the bar was enforced on the mare. Mr P Wallace was notified of the Veterinary advice.

VALONIA- Due to Jky J Baker being overweight he was replaced by Jky R Payne. The horse was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards acting on vet advice at 11.40am due to the mare getting loose prior to entering the mounting yard and making heavy contact with the railings adjacent to the tie up stalls. A subsequent veterinary examination was undertaken with the findings being that of minor lacerations and some lameness to the off foreleg. Stewards ordered all monies invested on VALONIA prior to the late scratching be refunded in fill and the following deductions to apply:

1st- COLES BEST- 0c win, 1c place
2nd- BUTT HEADS- 4c place.
3rd- SUNSHINE HIGHWAY- 3c place.

Trainer Mr W Baker was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next start. Jky J Baker was reprimanded by Stewards acting under the provision of AR190(3) for being overweight.

LEGISLATE- Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.

ASGOODASYOUGET- Raced wide without cover for the majority

Race 3- DALBY DASH CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m

MYSTERY POWER- Began awkwardly on jumping.

SO BRIGHT- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ROCKY RICH- Approaching the 1000m point raced greenly and then shifted out abruptly resulting in HYDROS being inconvenienced. Stewards advised Appr Jky C Lowe to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

HYDROS- When approaching the 1000m point was taken wide when ROCKY RICH shifted out when proven difficult to ride shifting out to avoid heels.

MAD MISSION- Laid out in the home straight.

Race 4- TURBO RUN BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200m

MILL ROSA- began awkwardly making heavy contact with the barrier partition, then bumped with UPSTART LEGEND and was slow to begin.

REDZOUST- Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the inside barrier partition resulting in the horse losing ground. Stewards questioned Jky N Fazackerley over his riding tactics over the final 200m of the event and then decided to adjourn the inquiry to allow for the perusal of betting records on the event and to allow Trainer Mr R Lipp to be present and provide evidence on his riding instructions to Jky N Fazackerley. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination on the gelding, this examination failed to locate any abnormalities.

MOST DAZZLING- Stewards acting under the provision of LR36(6) issued a fine of $200 to Trainer Mr I turner for his failure to scratch his dual acceptor by the prescribed time. The horse was officially a late scratching at 7.25am on the 17/1/2025.

SATAY CHICKEN- Raced wide with cover.

I PROMISE YOU- Raced wide with no cover.

UPSTART LEGEND- Bumped on jumping.

Race 5- BIG BEN BASH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m

PATMOS ISLAND- Taken wider rounding the home turn when SHOUTS ALL DAY shifted wider to improve into the race.

MOONAN ME-Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Stewards advised Appr Jky P Carter to exercise more care in that approaching the 600m point in the race where she was up on the heels of MOST DAZZLING then shifted out to obtain clear running and obtain a more forward position

MINIMAL-Began awkwardly bumping MOONAN ME.

CHINCHILLA AHEAD- Laid out in the home straight.

SHOUTS ALL DAY-Shifted out after entering the home straight to improve and take a more forward position. Tended to lay out in the home straight before being corrected by the rider.

Race 6- WILLS WOUND ABOUT MAIDEN PLATE 1000m

EXECUTE- Approaching the 900m laid out bumping QUEEN OF SSORTS. When questioned Jky T Marshall stated the gelding raced greenly for the majority, and in his opinion will benefit from today’s run and was of the opinion it would be more suited over more ground. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination resulting in no abnormalities being detected.

BESIEGE- Raced wide throughout.

MALBEC MAN- Leaving the 200m point was inconvenienced by WISE CHOICE when that horse shifted in resulting in MALBEC MAN becoming unbalanced with the rider having to take hold.

STARTLING CAT- Began awkwardly and bumped NOVADAN shortly after the start.

QUEEN OF SSORTS- Bumped by another runner at the 900m point in the event.

WISE CHOICE- Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred at approximately the 150m. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage available on the day Stewards issued a charge to Appr Jky C Lowe under the provision of AR131(a). After accepting Ms Lowe’s guilty plea Stewards formally found her guilty of the offence, in that at approximately the 150m point Appr Jky C Lowe made insufficient effort to prevent her horse from shifting ground resulting in the rider of MALBEC MAN becoming unbalanced, losing momentum and the rider having to take hold. Stewards ordered the appropriate penalty be the suspension of Ms Lowe’s licence to ride in races for a period of 10days. Her suspension is to take place from midnight the 19th of January 2025 up to and including the 29th of January 2025. Allowing her the freedom to return to race riding on the 30th of January 2025. Appr Jky Lowe in the presence of Apprentice Mentor Mr R Fradd was advised of her right to a review.

NOVADAN- Bumped shortly after the start by another runner.

Race 7- CRITERION CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m

KINGS GOLD- When approaching the 700m to the 600m point was dictated in and forcing BLACK MINTO’S rider having to check as a result of BAG OF WHITT shifting in. Was further inconvenienced at the 600m when the rider was forced to check to avoid heels. Inconvenienced at the 400m point when having to ease as a result of another runner shifting in. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination this resulted in the horse having small lacerations and some bleeding on the left foreleg. No lameness was detected, and no Veterinary Certificate would be required.

TOKYO SINS- Stewards acting under the provision of LR67(1) issued a fine to Trainer Mr P Wallace for the sum of $100 for his late declaration of a rider.

MY ELOISE- Trainer B Gorman was advised by Stewards that a Warning would be placed on his horse for it proving difficult to load.

PALAWA KANI- Bumped by another after being tightened for room at the start. While racing in a three-wide position in an effort to gain a more forward position leaving the 400m shifted in dictating KINGS GOLD in resulting in Jky P Hamblin having to take hold. Stewards acting under the provision of AR131(a) issued a reprimand to Jky H Richardson for Careless Riding in that she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.

BLACK MINTO-Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m point was checked as a result of KINGS GOLD being dictated in by another runner.

ENCRYPTED ELEGANCE- Forced to take hold at the 400m point when it received pressure from KINGS GOLD to its immediate outside which had received further pressure from PALAWA KANI which shifted in.

DIAMOND LASS- Slow to begin.

BAG OF WHITT- Approaching the 700m point up to and including the 600m shifted in dictating the line of KINGS GOLD resulting in BLACK MINTO being checked by the rider and a short distance later the rider of KINGS GOLD was forced to check his mount off the heels of BAG OF WHITT. Stewards inquired into the incident and after hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the Stewards video footage available on the day subsequently charged Jky Ms M Wishart under the provision of AR131(a) for Careless Riding. Jky Wishart pleaded guilty to the charge with Stewards formally finding her guilty of the offence in that approaching the 700m up to and including the 600m point she allowed her mount to shift in dictating the line of KINGS GOLD which resulted in the rider of BLACK MINTO having to to check and then a short distance later continued to shift in resulting in the rider of KINGS GOLD having to check his mount off the heels of BAG OF WHITT. In determining penalty Stewards considered Jky Wishart’s personal circumstances, and her record, and were of the opinion the appropriate penalty on this occasion was the suspension of her licence to ride in races for a period of 14 days. Her suspension would commence at M/night the 19th of January 2025 up to and including the 2nd of February allowing her the freedom to return to race riding on the 3rd of February 2025. Jky Wishart was advised of her right to a review.

Race 8- BEER GARDEN DASH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m

LUVIN’OUR GRACE- Hung in for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered by Stewards with no abnormalities being detected. Stewards acting under the provision of AR75(1) placed a Warning on the horse. Stewards notified Trainer Ms M Finnigan of the Warning being issued.

AIRSTRIKE- Was declared a late scratching by Stewards acting on Veterinary advice at 3.25pm after being cast in the barriers prior to the start. Trainer Mr WBaker was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance and would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

Prior to the declaration of Correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on AIRSTRIKE prior to 3.25pm be refunded in full less the following betting deductions:

1st- RUSSIAN MINT- 0c win, 2c place
2nd- MEDALS- 1c place
3rd- INATICK- 3c place.
Stewards then declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the Judges.

Race 9- BAR & BISTRO BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2000m.

LUCKY EXCHANGE-Raced wide from the 900m. Laid in down the home straight.

DEL CAMPO- Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.

MADALSA- Leaving the 150m racing to the inside of ONOMATOPOEIA the rider of forced to ease and lost momentum as a result of ONOMATOPOEIA shifting in. The declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing Jky L Tilley an opportunity to view the Stewards footage from the 200m. Shortly after viewing the footage Jky Tilley with Trainer P Webster representing the connections of MADALSA which finished in 3rd place lodged an objection to ONOMATOPEIA being declared the winner alleging interference from the 200m point. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the Stewards footage available to them on the day, Stewards acknowledge the shift inward by ONOMATOPOEIA and after considering the margins officially ¾ length x a long neck, the location of the interference and the winner appeared to be improving over the final stages of the event and did create sufficient doubt that MADALSA would have beaten ONOMATOPOEIA. Stewards subsequently dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers as semaphored by the judges.

ONOMATOPOEIA- Shifted in leaving the 150m point resulting in MADALS having to ease and losing momentum. Stewards acting under the provision of AR131(c) issued a reprimand to Appr Jky K Lenton for allowing her mount to shift in inconveniencing MADALSA.

BILPA MOREA- Raced in restricted room at the 700m.

FORUM ONE- Raced wide throughout.

SAINT MARTIN- Put in an awkward stride at the top of the home straight. Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(6) (c, ) Reprimanded Jky Y Lewis for her use of the whip when her mount was out of contention.
