Race 4: WHITEHOUSE GROUP Class B Handicap 1200 metres Prior to correct weight stewards considered a protest by jockey N Summers (SAND AND OCEAN – 2nd) against the winner ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) (app N Olzard) alleging interference over the final 150m. After considering the submissions of the riders, trainers and taking into account the available replays it was determined that leaving the 150m that ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) had shifted out under pressure and SAND AND OCEAN had shifted in under pressure resulting in both runners bumping. Bearing in mind the shift from both runners and the margin of a short head at the finish, stewards could not be satisfied that the degree of interference warranted overturning the judge’s decision, therefore the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared. PERGAMON – Slow into stride. ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. BOLD ENFORCER – Slow to begin. SAND AND OCEAN – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
