GENERAL
 
The following apprentices were fined under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim their full allowances on the following rides:
 
Race 1:         Apprentice T Orr - $100
                    Apprentice S McCann - $100
Race 2:         Apprentice M Goring - $100
Race 3:         Apprentice S McCann - $100
Race 5:         Apprentice T Orr - $100
Race 6:         Apprentice T Orr - $100
Race 7:         Apprentice M Goring - $100
 
The apprentices were replaced when a suitable rider was available.
 
Race 1: AJ & AD OLIVE MEMORIAL QTIS Maiden Plate 900M
 
AGNES WATERS – Fractious prior to the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
ARACELI – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide early.
 
GOTTA HERO – Began awkwardly.
 
NEVA BREEZE – Jumped outwards at the start momentarily impeding SAVVY MISS. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SAVVY MISS – Slow to begin. Impeded shortly after the start by NEVA BREEZE.
 
FRENCH WISH – Raced wide throughout.
 
SHADOW MISTRESS – Began awkwardly and slow into stride.
 
GETTIN’ LIPPY – Began awkwardly. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that GETTIN’ LIPPY would have a warning placed on its record for proving difficult to proceed to the barriers.
 
Race 2: TOTAL RURAL SUPPLIES VIRBAC BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 900M
 
VANCOUVER QUEEN – Bumped by OUTBACK STEP at the start. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
WHITTLESFORD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CINDERELLA MAN – Approaching the 100m switched out off the heels of WHITTLESFORD when that runner laid in.
 
OUTBACK STEP – Jumped in at the start bumping VANCOUVER QUEEN. Raced ungenerously throughout.
 
SUPER SLICK – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TOY BLAZE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DAWN REBEL – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NOUVERRE FILLE – Slow to begin. Rider reported that the mare slipped at the start.
 
WELL RESTED – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: PCC MINE SERVICES OPEN Plate 900M
 
Prior to declaration of correct weight stewards inquired into the start, after interviewing the starter and jockey A Spinks it was determined that CICCONE had reared and harmlessly dislodged jockey Spinks immediately prior to the start being effected. Subsequently stewards acting under the provisions of AR204(1)(a) stewards declared CICCONE a non-starter due to the mare being riderless as the start was effected. Stewards ordered all monies invested on CICCONE to be refunded and deductions to apply as follows:

7c the place LILYALLEZ (NZ) (1st)
7c the place HARALBEN (2nd)
 
Trainer B Trimble was advised that CICCONE would have to complete an official trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
HARALBEN – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Over raced in the middle stages having to be restrained on a number of occasions.
 
INVINCIBLE JET – Slipped on jumping and was slow to muster speed as a result. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
YULONG SOVEREIGN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOOGIELU – Apprentice I. Jessop was approved as replacement for apprentice S McCann as she was unable to claim her full allowance. Commenced to buck shortly after the start and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have minor abrasions on the right hind fetlock. Trainer A Briskey was advised that BOOGIELU would have to trial to the satisfaction of stewards, after attempting to buck, prior to racing again. Trainer A Briskey was reprimanded under AR165(3) for leaving the course prior to the prescribed time. Mr Briskey was in the process of driving out of the course before being directed to return for BOOGIELU to undergo the veterinary examination.
 
JANEAN – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: CL & WM HICKEY Class B Handicap 1200M
 
SPIRIT OF HEATH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HARCASION – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
DEEP SILENCE – Slow into stride. Inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PLAYFUL KISS – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed poor post-race recovery and possible signs of heat stress as well as minor abrasions to the right hock. Trainer K Miller was advised that the mare requires a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
JEWELMAE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOOSCAPE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
COCO ROYALE – When questioned in the improved performance trainer A Clarke was of the view that the addition of a tongue tie this start was of significant assistance and was confident of the mares chances today.
 
Race 5: REGIONAL WASTE CQ QTIS Maiden Plate 1200M
 
FULL OF EURO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
XARELLO – Fractious prior to the start. Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the middle stages. 
 
SEND THE MONEY – Raced wide throughout. When questioned in relation in the seemingly poor performance jockey C Mclver stated that the mare travelled well throughout however when asked for an effort it failed to respond, he further added that in his opinion that the mare failed to handle the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
TOHUKU – Fractious prior to the start. Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TWO OF US – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 6: ROCKVIEW CATTLE CO. OPEN Handicap 1200M
 
GRAND DE LAGO – Bounded on jumping. Slow to begin.
 
JETSKI – Began awkwardly. Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages.
 
DRAGON’S SNIP – Began awkwardly. Apprentice T. Orr was reprimand under AR184(b)(ii) for neglecting to weigh out with packing. Mr Orr identified the error and re-weighed accordingly.
 
KOTABHARU – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the mares record for being uncompetitive throughout. Apprentice I. Jessop was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) when using her whip out of contention.
 
BAYERISCHE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 7: ST OLIVE & SONS DINGO CUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed after ALL BUSINESS (NZ) was tardy to begin and the rider becoming unbalanced. After viewing the replays stewards were of the view that ALL BUSINESS (NZ) had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.
 
TUPELAWARA – Jumped out at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ENTREPRENEURIAL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHILLI PALMER – Over raced in the early stages.
 
GOLDEN ATHENA – Raced wide throughout.
 
INVICTUS LAD – Fractious prior to the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUVIN’ OUR GRACE – Began awkwardly and slow to begin.
 
ALEACO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
FLAMING HOMER – Became awkward in its action and lost ground near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer T Cook advised that he was of the view that the gelding failed to handle the softer track conditions which is consistent with prior starts on similar going.
 
ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Anticipated the start and bounded in the air on jumping resulting in jockey A Spinks in becoming unbalanced and slow to begin as a result. Raced wide throughout.
