BRISBANE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT THUR. 09.11.00

WEATHER – FINE TRACK - DEAD RAIL - OUT 4.5M ALL TRACK

RACE 1: BRISBANE ARCADE H'CAP - 1200M

When attempting to improve near the 200m, ZANDE made contact with CULTURED PEARL.

RACE 2: FASHIONS ON FRIDAY H'CAP - 1200M

NUTSHELL, which was a little slow to jump, was hampered shortly after the start when DIAMOND LASS shifted in.

RACE 3: JACOBS CREEK RESERVE H'CAP - 1350M

NO INCIDENTS

RACE 4: CHARLIE'S ANGELS H'CAP - 1200M

BOND blundered on jumping away and lost ground.

MORE DRAMA and MR. ARCHIBALD were slow to begin.

After passing the 1000m MR. ARCHIBALD raced ungenerously when restrained and shifted out making contact with TANNER'S TWIST. MR. ARCHIBALD continued to race ungenerously for some distance after this incident.

RACE 5: MESSINI H'CAP - 1200M

BLEVIC STAR was tightened between CRESTER and ROYAL CALIBRE at the start.

RANGERS jumped away awkwardly.

N Day, the rider of RANGERS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1100m when not clear of MARX, causing that horse to be checked. As a consequence of being checked, MARX then made contact with SAHARA FLIER. N Day was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Sunday, 12 November, and conclude at midnight on Saturday, 25 November.

L Harris sought medical attention after the race when he indicated that SAHARA FLIER's head had struck him in the face prior to being loaded into the barriers. The Club's medical officer reported that L Harris sustained bruising of the eye.

A veterinary examination of FRENCH GENTLEMAN following the event revealed the gelding to be shin sore. M Pelling also reported that he was of the opinion that FRENCH GENTLEMAN was breathing abnormally throughout the race.


RACE 6: B MAGAZINE H'CAP - 1110M

Due to transport difficulties, S Katsidis was unable to arrive on course to fulfil his engagements and was replaced as follows:

Race 6 ICY GRIP B Compton
Race 7 RED HEAVY M Aspinall
Race 8 TOAST A LADY M Aspinall

DANCE IN THE DARK blundered on jumping away.

CRYPTIC RED and GLADMAC were slow to begin.

GLADMAC was inclined to pull hard in the early and middle stages and was obliged to race wide after making the first turn.

It was noted that CRYPTIC RED and SPLENDIDO could not obtain clear running in the home straight.

J Byrne, the rider of DANCE IN THE DARK, reported that his horse had a tendency to hang out over the latter stages of the race.

RACE 7: ELEGANTE ON ASCOT H'CAP - 1630M

NO OPTION blundered on jumping away.

RACE 8: POWERHOUSE BOUTIQUE HOTELS H'CAP - 1110M

MAKE A WISH and TOAST A LADY were slow to jump.

After travelling a short distance ASPEN VALLEY shifted in and brushed JUST A PRINCESS.

Leaving the 300m TOAST A LADY shifted out to improve and made contact with QUEENS ARMS, forcing that horse wider on the track.

G Colless reported after the race that in his opinion SAHARA CHARM was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer N R Dawson advised that the horse was suffering some soreness and would be spelled. As the horse had left the course, Mr Dawson advised stewards that his veterinary surgeon would provide a report to the stewards on the nature of the soreness.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
