SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As M. Walker was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Caxton Hotel F&M Open H'cap - 1615m
1st – Tobouggie Woogie 2nd – Hidden Wonder 3rd – Yummy 4th – Mio Cavallo

PARALEGAL (J. Byrne) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, brushing MIO CAVALLO (P. Hammersley).

Near the 300m, YUMMY (C. Munce) shifted out to obtain clear running and brushed MIO CAVALLO.

S. Katsidis was questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on LA BELLA LUISA, which settled in a forward position today which was in contrast to its most recent starts. S. Katsidis explained that the mare began well and overraced in the early and middle stages which, in his view, may have been the result of racing in pacifiers for the first time and being stepped up in distance to the 1600m today. S. Katsidis advised that LA BELLA LUISA weakened over the final 300m and would be better suited being freshened up and racing over a shorter distance than that of today’s race. Trainer J. Wallace explained that he gave no specific instructions to S. Katsidis, and felt that LA BELLA LUISA settled further forward in the field due to the lack of early speed in the race. Mr Wallace confirmed he would now freshen the mare up and place it in shorter races. A post-race veterinary examination of LA BELLA LUISA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 2: R&S Scraper Hire CG&E Class 6 H'cap – 1615m
1st – Intertheblack 2nd – Ausworld 3rd – Athenas Gift 4th – Hangover Henry

METEOR MASTER (C. Munce) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, brushing the hind quarters of HANGOVER HENRY (J. Byrne).

Shortly after the start, SHOWCITI (B. Pengelly) had to be checked when tightened for room between PATMOSS (J. Taylor), which shifted in slightly, and AFLEET BOY (B. El-Issa), which was taken out by AUSWORLD (G. Colless).

Due to the lack of speed, ATHENAS GIFT (S. Scriven), HANGOVER HENRY, PATMOSS and KYROS (M. Cahill) all overraced in the early stages. KYROS continued to overrace in the middle stages and near the 800m shifted out to avoid the heels of PATMOSS.

Approaching the 800m, HANGOVER HENRY (J. Byrne) was momentarily tightened for room by AUSWORLD (G. Colless), which shifted in slightly.

After passing the 500m, HANGOVER HENRY shifted out in a attempt to improve its position and made contact with DANARDOS on a number of occasions.

DANARDOS (L. Cassidy) raced 3 wide in the early and middle stages.

When asked to explain the performance of DANARDOS, rider L. Cassidy stated that the gelding was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages before obtaining cover one wide near the 900m. L. Cassidy added that when placed under pressure, DANARDOS failed to respond to his riding and, in his opinion, was disappointing.



Race 3: Goodna RSL Services Club Open H'cap - 1010m
1st – Changing Eyes 2nd – Pins On Parade 3rd – Decibella 4th – Mister Celestial

SHAKEVA (J. Bowditch) overraced in the early stages.

BOLD REASON (M. Cahill) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 300m.

Over the concluding stages, PELLTRO (J. Byrne) was inconvenienced when tightened for room between MISTER CELESTIAL (S. Seamer), which shifted out slightly, and PINS ON PARADE (B. Pengelly), which shifted in slightly under pressure.

PINS ON PARADE (B. Pengelly) and DECIBELLA (S. Katsidis) raced 3 wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of BOLD REASON revealed the horse to have pulled up lame in the near foreleg. Trainer T. Webb was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.





Race 4: Aspley Leagues Club 3yo QTIS H'cap - 1110m
1st – Falvelina 2nd – One Lickety Split 3rd – Mondean 4th – Seventh Heart

SEVENTH HEART (C. Munce) began awkwardly and then was tightened for room between CARLTON FORWARD (G. Lynch), which shifted out, and MONDEAN (J. Byrne), which shifted in.

ONE LICKETY SPLIT (S. Scriven) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping EMMA’S HEART (M. Cahill).

Shortly after the start, UNICA BAHAYA (J. Taylor) had to be checked when tightened for room between FALVELINA (L. Cassidy) and GREAT MAN (E. Wilkinson), which shifted out.

Near the 1000m, SEVENTH HEART had to be checked when tightened for room between CARLTON FORWARD, which shifted out, and ONE LICKETY SPLIT (S. Scriven), which was taken in by EMMA’S HEART. M. Cahill, rider of EMMA’S HEART, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. G. Lynch, rider of CARLTON FORWARD, was also advised to make greater effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in future.

BEVAGNA (M. Hughes) and GREAT MAN overraced in the early stages.

EMMA’S HEART and AL CHICAGO (P. Hammersley) raced 3 wide throughout.

Jockey M. Hughes was questioned regarding the performance of BEVAGNA. He explained that the filly hung out for a major part of the race and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of BEVAGNA revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg.

When questioned regarding the performance of UNICA BAHAYA, J. Taylor explained that after meeting with interference shortly after the start the filly travelled well, however failed to sprint as expected when placed under pressure in the home straight. J. Taylor added that, in his view, today’s firm track conditions may not have suited the filly. A post-race veterinary examination of UNICA BAHAYA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 5: Gaythorne RSL QTIS 600 2yo H'cap - 1110m
1st – Gentle Giant 2nd – Why So Expensive 3rd – Jopa 4th - Shezamyth

Trainer N. Saunders was fined $100 for presenting WHISPRIAN to the enclosure with incorrect gear.

SMART (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

JOPA (J. Bowditch) was tightened for room shortly after the start between D’JET (B. El-Issa), which shifted out, and WHISPRIAN (J. Holder), which after brushing with JUST ABOUT READY (R. Hinricks) shifted in.

Approaching the 800m, STARSTREAMED (M. Cahill), which was inclined to overrace, had to be eased to avoid the heels of GENLE GIANT (E. Wilkinson), which shifted in when not fully clear. When considering this matter, stewards took into account that the tempo of the race had slowed at that point, however they nevertheless issued E. Wilkinson, rider of GENTLE GIANT, with a reprimand and advised him to ensure that he is sufficiently clear in future when shifting ground.

After passing the 500m, JOPA (J. Bowditch) had to be steadied when tightened for room by D’JET (B. El-Issa), which shifted in away from HUFF AND PUFF (M. Hellyer).

Near the 300m, MANAHIDE (C. Munce) was obliged to alter course to the inside of SKY EFFORT (M. Palmer) in order to improve.

JOPA was held up and unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the home straight.

SHEZAMYTH (S. Seamer), HUFF AND PUFF (M. Hellyer) and WHISPRIAN (J. Holder) raced wide throughout.

M. Cahill was questioned regarding the performance of STARSTREAMED. M. Cahill explained that after having to be steadied near the 800m, STARSTREAMED was inclined to overrace and continued to do so for some distance, and when placed under pressure near the 300m, momentarily responded to his riding however shortly after failed to finish the race off as expected and, in his view, was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of STARSTREAMED failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of JUST ABOUT READY revealed the gelding to have been galloped on on the near hind coronet band.


Race 6: The Homestead Tavern CG&E NMW H'cap - 1110m
1st – Castellani 2nd – Telesto Warrior 3rd – Elusive Port 4th - Reizarb

LUCKY DUKE (Michael Palmer) jumped away awkwardly, resulting in apprentice M. Palmer becoming very unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance.

LUCKY DUKE raced very fiercely in the early stages and on a number of occasions had to be checked to avoid the heels of COZ HE WANTS TO (J. Holder).

CENTENNIAL SON (M. Cahill) overraced in the early and middle stages.

MORCOMBE (S. Bogenhuber) raced wide throughout.

Near the 300m, the off-side winker on CASTELLANI (E. Wilkinson) became detached.










Race 7: Coca-Cola Amatil F&M NMW H'cap - 1110m
1st – Aspiran 2nd – Royal Saint 3rd – Bianca Blues 4th – Koorong Avenue

SWIFT SANDS (J. Holder) blundered at the start.

Near the 900m, DIVA DANCE (Matthew Palmer) became unbalanced when crowded for room by FALLING STAR (L. Cassidy), which shifted in when not fully clear. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards acknowledged that FALLING STAR did have a tendency to shift away from ANY WONDER (R. Hinricks), however issued L. Cassidy, rider of FALLING STAR, with a reprimand for the initial crowding to DIVA DANCE.

Near the 700m, BELLTRIST shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail.

EASY PLAY (J. Byrne) was held up rounding the home turn, and shortly after straightening, had to be steadied off the heels of KWILAJOY (R. McMahon), which shifted out slightly. EASY PLAY then altered course to the inside to improve.

ANY WONDER (R. Hinricks) and SWIFT SANDS (J. Holder) raced wide throughout.


Race 8: Bunya Sports Open H'cap - 1350m
1st – Anyways 2nd – Rightson 3rd – Blazing Hearts 4th – Mr Orient

B. El-Issa was disloged from MR SLICK during the preliminary. MR SLICK was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

ROCKEM, which became fractious in the barriers, was withdrawn from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

In the early part of the home straight, SHUFFLE THE CASH (B. Stewart) had some difficulty obtaining clear running.

FELIXTRINIDAD (J. Holder) raced erratically when being restrained in the early and middle stages and on a number of occasions when being steadied shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer S. Lee was advised that a warning would be placed on FELIXTRINIDAD and that should it perform in a similar manner in future, further action would be considered.

G. Colless, rider of CORNWALL PARK, which performed below expectations, explained that he was awkwardly positioned approaching the home turn, however when he placed the gelding under pressure, CORNWALL PARK failed to respond to his riding and, in his opinion, had come to the end of its preparation and would be sent for a spell. Stewards will confirm this with A. Bailey in the coming days that CORNWALL PARK would be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination of CORNWALL PARK failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
