SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
From Eagle Farm meeting, 26.11.11
Race 1. Stable connections reported that KHAANTANTES had pulled up with general soreness all over and will be spelled immediately.
Race 2. The trainer of DOUBLE IMAGE reported that the horse had pulled up lame in the off fore knee due to a bone chip, and that DOBLE IMAGE would undergo an operation.
Race 8. Trainer R. Heathcote reported to stewards that his veterinary surgeon had conducted tests on SOLZENITSYN (NZ) following its disappointing performance in Race 8 and that such tests revealed the gelding to have a low white blood cell count, indicating that it was probably suffering from a virus. He advised that he would give the horse a short let up prior to its next race start.
Race 6. Trainer A. Bailey reported to stewards that in the days following the race STREETS AWAY was found to be suffering from a stone bruise to the off fore hoof.
Race 1: Skyracing.TV Maiden Plate - 2240m
1st – Golden Cygnet 2nd – Mein Schadenfreude 3rd – Bakobi 4th - Onarohl
GOLDEN CYGNET (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly and a short distance after the start was tightened for room between MISS PETTIFOG (T. Bell) and HEAR THE BEAT (A. Pattillo), which shifted in after jumping away awkwardly.
When the pace steadied on the turn out of the straight, MEIN SCHADENFREUDE (G. Colless) commenced to overraced and had to be steadied from the heels of MISS PETTIFOG. CUBAN (. Abe) and GOLDEN CYGNET, which were following, also had to be steadied as a consequence.
Passing the 1400m, MEIN SCHADENFREUDE was momentarily tightened for room by ONAROHL (R. McMahon), which shifted in slightly.
Leaving the 600m, ONAROHL (R. McMahon) improved up and struck the heels of HEAR THE BEAT (A. Pattillo), resulting in in HEAR THE BEAT becoming unbalanced.
Near the 400m, HEAR THE BEAT had to be steadied when tightened for room between MEIN SCHADENFREUDE and GOLDEN CYGNET, which shifted in slightly.
Race 2: www.brc.com.au Maiden H'cap - 1110m
1st – Molly’s Way 2nd – Cervance 3rd – Lady Carlson 4th – Canny Candoo
CERVANCE (P. Schmidt) and LADY CARLSON (L. Cassidy) were slow to begin.
DO OR DIE (S. Drake) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
Over the concluding stages, CERVANCE was inclined to lay in under pressure.
J. Hoopert, rider of RAHULA, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 850m, which resulted in HOME AND HOSED (J. Bowditch) being taken in on to SEQUALO STORM (M. Hellyer), which had to be steadied.
J. Hoopert (RAHULA) was again reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 800, which resulted in HOME AND HOSED havng to be steadied to avoid the heels of RAHULA.
Jockey J. Bryne, rider of LEONCINO, reported that he was disapointed with the filly’s effort, having been confident of its chances after riding the horse in a jump-out in preparation for today’s race. Trainer R. Heathcote was also disappointed with the effort of LEONCINO, stating that the horse had worked well in preparation for today’s first-up performance. He added however that, in his view, LEONCINO had worked hard in the early stages to gain a position and felt that this may have told on the mare over the concluding part of the race, bearing in mind LEONCINO had had considerable time away from racing prior to today.
Race 3: Sequalo @ Lyndhurst 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1110m
1st – Rare Quality 2nd – Tale Of Harmony 3rd – Man Of Money 4th –Bold Option
BURN SO BRIGHT (G. Colless) was slow to begin.
Jockey P. Schmidt reported that MR SCARY raced greenly and near the 700m improved up on to the heels of BOLD OPTION (M. Hellyer), and when being restrained shifted out, and this resulted in MR SCARY racing 3 wide from that point onwards.
Jockey G. Colless reported that BURN SO BRIGHT was unable to muster speed in the early part of the race and, in his view, is looking for further distance.
TAIL OF HARMONY lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 4: Bollinger Class 3 Plate - 1030m
1st – The Ringmaster 2nd – Western Shadow 3rd – Sir Qualfied 4th – Spirit Of Flatley
SPIRIT OF FLATLEY (A. Butler) raced 3 wide for the entire race.
Apprentice P. Schmidt, rider of KING CRUSADER reported to stewards that after she was momentarily tightened for room by THE RINGMASTER near the 600m. KING CRUSADER became unbalanced and was awkward in its action for several strides. P. Schmidt added that at various times down the home straight KING CRUSADER became unbalanced and faltered. A post-race veterinary examination of KING CRUSADER revealed the horse had been galloped on on the off hind leg and to be exhibiting soreness upon flexion of the off fore fetlock. Trainer B. Laming was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for KING CRUSADER prior to its next race start.
Race 5: Blackwoods Class 3 H'cap - 1650m
1st – All My Heart 2nd – My Quilter 3rd – Gold Shears 4th – Our Hussey
Trainer A. Bailey reported that MORE MORE MORE was exhibiting mucas in one nostril earlier this morning and as a precautionary measure requested the on-course veterinary surgeon inspect the horse. A subsequent veterinary examination of MORE MORE MORE cleared the horse suitable to race.
AWESOME RANSOM (M. Hellyer) and MORE MORE MORE (G. Colless) were slow to begin.
MORE MORE MORE and AWESOME RANSOM bumped near the 1500m.
CHARLIE’S BOY (T. Bell) raced 3 wide throughout.
Jockey G. Colless was afforded the opportunity of explaining the poor performance of MORE MORE MORE. G. Colless stated that from the awkward barrier he was obliged to settle the horse a little further back in the field than anticipated. He added that he commenced to improve from the 600m, however MORE MORE MORE was under pressure upon straightening and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. G. Colless further stated that the horse had had a considerable period of time away from racing and may not have appreciated the quick back up from its second up performance at Doomben on 23 November 2011.
Race 6: Montrose Access Benchmark 75 H'cap - 1200m
1st – Requested 2nd – Little Retrospect 3rd – Liger 4th – Gold Rating
HUSSMINDA (J. Letherby) raced 3 wide throughout.
An inquiry was held into the reason for MOHAWK (W. Abbey), TISANI BOY (P. Schmidt), LUMINOUS HARMONY (L. Cassidy) and HUSSMINDA (J. Letherby) falling leaving the 400m. After taking evidence from W. Abbey (MOHAWK), J. Letherby (HUSSMINDA), C. Munce (I’M THE ONE) and B. Richardson (GOLD RATING) , the inquiry was adjourned to enable further evidence to be taken from P. Schmidt, rider of TISANI BOY, and L. Cassidy, rider of LUMINOUS HARMONY, both of whom had been taken to hospital for further treatment. The following post race veterinary examamination were carried out. MOHAWK – Minor lacerations to lower legs. LUMINOUS HARMONY – Lame off hind leg. TISANI BOY – Lacerations to its face.
RETROSPECT lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 7: Sky Racing Class 3 H'cap - 1350m
1st – Danish Whiskey 2nd – Shocking Blue 3rd - Bang On 4th – Dazzling Kind
R. Hancock was substituted as the rider of KAMADIVA when no apprentice rider was available to replace the indisposed apprentice J. Brown.
Following a delay after the race fall in the previous race, the starting time for Race 7 was rescheduled to 5.05 pm. As L.Cassidy and P. Schmidt were injured in this fall, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
SHOCKING BLUE (J. Byrne) and HANDSOME (R. McMahon) made contact on jumping away.
LITTLE ANTICS (J. Kropp) was tightened for room shortly after the start between TALLYHO (P. Hammersley) and MAN FROM OZ (M. Hellyer), which was taken out by DAZZLING KIND (E. Wilkinson).
DARK SECRETS (J. Bowditch) commenced to overrace leaving the 800m and near the 700m shifted out and away from the heels of DAZZLING KIND (E. Wilkinson), taking SUKAB (B. Stewart) wider on the track.
MAN FROM OZ (M. Hellyer) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until leaving the 200m.
BANG ON (T. Bell) was held up for clear running until inside the final 100m.
TALLYHO (P. Hammersley) was tightened for room approaching the finish line when racing between BANG ON (T. Bell) and MAN FROM OZ, which shifted in to obtain clear running to the inside of DAZZLING KIND.
LITTLE ANTICS (J. Kropp) was held up for clear running in the home straight.
