Race 1: Skyracing.tv.QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1110m
1st – Ain’t She Sweet 2nd – Shamrock Slipper 3rd – Show A Noee 4th – Mafia Princess

Connections advised that HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS would be ridden in a forward position today if circumstances permit. The horse subsequently raced midfield.

OFFENSE (S. Galloway) was slow to begin.

SHOW A NOEE (N. Thomas) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

After travelling a short distance, ORDAIN (S. Seamer) had to be checked when tightened for room between TRANSONIC (J. Byrne) and AIN’T SHE SWEET (L. Cheshire), which shifted in and away from LOVE LAUGHING (M. Wood).

Near the 700m, FASTNET HEART (Matthew Palmer), when racing greenly, shifted out, resulting in LORD LONHRO (D. Browne) being inconvenienced.

Passing the 600m, OFFENSE improved up on to the heels of AIN’T SHE SWEET and when being restrained shifted in, making contact with ORDAIN (S. Seamer). A short distance later, AIN’T SHE SWEET improved up on to the heels of HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS (C. Munce) and had to be steadied.

Approaching the 400m, AIN’T SHE SWEET and ALL MY ANGELS (J. Stanley) raced in restricted room for a short distance between TRANSONIC and HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS, which shifted in.

Near the 100m, LOVE LAUGHING had to be steadied and alter course when FASTNET HEART, which was tiring, shifted out.

OFFENSE had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m.

LOVE LAUGHING, LORD LONHRO (D. Browne) and HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS raced 3 wide throughout.

CHANGE OFTEN (T. Bell) and SHOW A NOEE (N. Thomas) raced very wide throughout.

SHOW A NOEE lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 2: Sky Racing Plus Open H'cap - 1110m
1st – Reilly Blue 2nd – Patties Mate 3rd – Elusive Port 4th - Tierqualo

Mr B. Smith, trainer of JASMINKA, which would not proceed to the barriers with the rider aboard and subsequently reared up, dislodging R. McMahon at the barrier stalls, will be advised that JASMINKA must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.

The start of the race was delayed when PYRAMIDS dislodged J. Byrne at the barriers and broke away from barrier attendants. PYRAMIDS was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 12.56 pm. Stewards ordered all monies invest on PYRAMIDS be refunded with the following deductions to apply on successful wagers as follows:

For bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 12.56 pm:

2 cent in the dollar for the winner No. 8
5 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner No.8
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place No.6
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place No. 3

Trainer Mr M. Dunn informed stewards that PYRAMIDS would now be retired from racing. Stewards advised Mr Dunn if it was intention that the horse race again, an application would firstly have to be made to the stewards.

SHEEDY (N. Thomas) was slow to begin.

S. Seamer, rider of REILLY BLUE, reported that when TIERQUALO, which was boxed to his inside, was slow to begin he took the opportunity to ride his mount forward in the early stages.

Stewards interviewed apprentice P. Keane, rider of TIERQUALO, regarding his request to remain boxed in the barriers when all other runners were unloaded when it was obvious that a delay to the start would be caused when PYRAMIDS broke away from the barrier attendants. P. Keane stated that TIERQUALO was excitable in the mounting enclosure and behind the barriers and the horse had previously shown it can be difficult to load into the barriers. On this basis, P. Keane informed stewards, in his opinion, it was in the best interests of TIERQUALO to remain boxed as the horse had settled quite well in the gates.

Race 3: Sky Racing – No.1 in Racing Class 6 H'cap - 1200m
1st – Griffon 2nd – Mossriver 3rd – Geared 4th - Devinardi

The start of this race was delayed when RUMOUR AND SCANDAL (T. Bell) proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that warning would be placed on RUMOUR AND SCANDAL regarding its barrier manners.

Approaching the 300m, C. Munce, rider of MOSSRIVER, was obliged to alter course to the inside of D’JET (J. Stanley) when that runner shifted out under pressure.

A post-race veterinary examination of D’JET revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connectons of D’JET were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to D’JET racing again.

Race 4: Sky Racing World QTIS 3yo H'cap - 2020m
1st – Pretty Pins 2nd – No More Bull 3rd – Brauhauser 4th -

PEA BIGGY (A. Mundy) reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer B. Laming was advsied that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barriers manners.

On the turn out of the straight on the first occasion, COLOUR CODE (M. Hellyer) hung out, taking BRAUHAUSER (G. Colless) wider on the track. COLOUR CODE continued to hang out and near the 1600m forced SLIGHT GLANCE (J. Taylor) wider. A short distance later, M. Hellyer allowed COLOUR CODE to stride forward to the lead.

PRETTY PINS (T. Bell) raced 3 deep from a point passing the 1100m.

SLIGHT GLANCE, which commenced to tire from the 800m, was tightened for room near the 600m when BRAUHAUSER improved around that horse. Stewards advised trainer M. Kropp that whilst it was his intention to spell SLIGHT GLANCE, they nevertheless advised him that the horse must establish form in the provincial area before returning to race in the metropolitan area. G. Colless, rider of BRAUHAUSER, was also advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice S. Bogenhuber, rider of GRAB THE LOOT, regarding the reason she allowed her mount to lose contact with the back of BRAUHAUSER from near the 1600m until a point leaving the 1000m. S. Bogenhuber stated that GRAB THE LOOT was still inexperienced and got on the wrong leg on the turn out of the front straight, and owing to this she was reluctant to pressure the horse to maintain a trailing position behind BRAUHAUSER and believed it was in the horse’s best interests to allow it to balance up and wait until such time as GRAB THE LOOT changed legs and travelled comfortably for her. She added that whilst this allowed NO MORE BULL to take a position one off forward of her when the pace eased in the latter stages of the back straight, this allowed GRAB THE LOOT to make up ground and get balanced.

Race 5: Qld Barrier Trials On Sky Class 6 Plate – 2020m
1st – Satch 2nd – Grey Assignment 3rd – Object Of Virtue 4th - Mukaddamah

ENDLESS TOWER (J. Ford) stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. As the horse has an unblemished record regarding these matters, stewards issued a warning in respect to the horse’s barrier manners.

GREIG (M. Hellyer) was slow to begin.

ENDLESS TOWER commenced to overrace passing the 1600m and refused to settle. This resulted in ENDLESS TOWER having to be positioned 3 wide until obtaining a one off position outside of OBJECT OF VIRTUE (J. Taylor) near the 900m.

G. Colless, rider of SHEZAHOTSHOT, reported that the race was not run to suit his mount with the tempo of the race slow in the middle stages. He added that, in his opinion, his chances were further diminished when DUEL SHOW held a position one out several lengths from the leader in the middle stages, which resulted in him being positioned some distance from the lead near the 700m. G. Colless further stated that after being momentarily held up rounding the home turn on the heels of the tiring ENDLESS TOWER, his mount sprinted quickly for 200m but peaked on its run inside the final 100m, which may have been as a result of the 3-week period between runs. The explanation was noted.

Race 6: Happy Birthday Ruth One Metro Win H'cap - 1615m
1st – Gold Shears 2nd – Bawaardi 3rd – Gold Rating 4th – Fire Up Fifi

Apprentice B. Looker, rider of PSYCLONE MISS, was reprimanded for failing to claim his full allowance.

Connections advised that HANGOVER HENRY would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

PSYCLONE MISS (B. Looker) was slow to begin.

GOLD SHEARS (S. Galloway) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 100m, G. Colless, rider of BAWAARDI, accidentally struck FROM LONDON (T. Bell) over the nose with his whip.

Stewards sought an explanation from C. Munce regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of On FACE VALUE. C. Munce stated that the horse was having its first run for a month and as a result raced quite fresh. He added that its previous form on rain-affected surfaces was poor and on this basis he felt the surface today may not have suited ON FACE VALUE. A post-race veterinary examination of ON FACE VALUE revealed a small laceration to the near hind leg, consistent with being galloped on.

Race 7: Athol Mullen Memorial Lough Neagh Stakes – 1350m
1st – My Destiny 2nd – Ready To Rip 3rd – Adebisi 4th – Steel Zip

ESSINGTON (G. Colless) was slow to begin.

ZERO ROCK (C. Munce) faltered at the start.

Near the 1200m, ZERO ROCK (C. Munce) faltered badly in both hind legs and was subsequently retired from the event. As a result of this, MY DESTINY (J. Ford) and SHUFFLE THE CASH (M. Wood), which were trailing ZERO ROCK, were inconvenienced. A post-race veterinary examination of ZERO ROCK revealed the horse to have a fractured pelvis.

Passing the 450m, POOR JUDGE (K. Yoshida) shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with JAZZ HEART (J. Bowditch).

READY TO RIP (S. Galloway) was held up and unable to obtain clear running by virtue of being placed awkwardly at the heels of STARTSMEUP (D. Browne) between the 350m and 200m.

G. Colless, rider of ESSINGTON, reported that he had difficulty securing clear running throughout the length of the straight when awkwardly placed behind STEEL ZIP (J. Stanley) and to the inside of SPIRIT OF BOOM (R. McMahon), and, in his opinion, with a clear run ESSINGTON would have finished in the placings.

JAZZ HEART and STARTSMEUP (D. Browne) raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 8: Sky Vision In Apps NMW H'cap - 1350m
1st – Narcelo 2nd – Pegunny Cat 3rd – Emoticon 4th – King Of The Kongo

The start of this race was delayed when SHUTUPANSHUFFLE refused to prodeed to the barriers. SHUTUPANSHUFFLE was declared a late scratching at 4.58 pm. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on SHUTUPANSHUFFLE were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions to apply. Stewards, after hearing submissions from connections of SHUTUPANSHUFFLE, placed a warning on the horse and advised that should the horse reoffend in a similar manner, direct action may be taken against the horse.

For bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 4.58 pm:

2 cent in the dollar for the winner No. 4
3 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner No.4
3 cents in the dollar for 2nd place No.17
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place No. 5

NARCELO (J. Ford) and KING OF THE KONGO (M. Wood) were slow to begin.

Passing the 800m KING OF THE KONGO (M. Wood) improved to the inside of PROFESSOR (M. Palmer) where there was insufficient room and had to be steadied.

Near the 700m, KING OF THE KONGO shifted out to improve and made contact with TROMBONE ALLEY (J. Stanley).

Passing the 550m, KING OF THE KONGO again shifted out to improve and took TROMBONE ALLEY (J. Stanley) wider on the track.

HUSSMINDA (J. Bowditch) was held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn and was then held up in the early part of the straight when awkwardly placed at the heels of EMOTICON (J. Byrne).

MAGIC TARTAN (T. Bell) was momentarily impeded near the 100m when KING OF THE KONGO shifted outwards.

Near the 100m, RETROSPECT broke down and fractured both sesamoids in the near foreleg and had to be euthanased on humane grounds.

Stewards opened an inquiry into J. Stanley’s riding of TROMBONE ALLEY, particularly over the final 600m. The inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to allow stewards to interview Mr P. Duff, trainer of TROMBONE ALLEY.

Stewards sought an explanation from C. Munce regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of IGLES STAR. C. Munce stated that he was hopeful of positioning just off the speed, however from the wide barrier he was unable to gain a position close to the fence in the early stages and then was forced to ride forward to positon the IGLES STAR in the lead. He further stated that this, in his view, did not suit the horse and whilst he was still a little disappointed with its finishing effort, he acknowledged that he had to use the horse in the early stages which may have told on the horse at the end of the race.

R. Wiggins, rider of SEA MARVISTA, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish.

J. Bowditch, rider of the 5th placegetter, was reprimanded for failing to weigh.
