On return to scale J. Stanley, rider of the 4th placegetter, BESEECH, viewed the video to consider whether he would lodge an objection against the 2nd placegetter, PASSIVITY (B. Stewart), and then after viewing the video, he lodged an objection against SONS OF GOD (A. Allen) being declared 3rd and BESEECH, alleging interference over the final 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol videos, stewards found that inside the 200m, SONS OF GOD shifted out slightly, taking PASSIVITY out towards the running of BESEECH and had to be steadied away from the heels of KEEP IT MOIST (P. Holmes), which shifted in slightly approaching the 100m. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that this interference warranted reversing of the placings taking into account the margins involved. Apprentice A. Allen, rider of SONS OF GOD, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances and to keep his mounts on a straight course at all times.

CARLSON’S FELT (T. Bell) and MR TRACEY (A. Butler)raced wide for the majority of the race.

When questioned regarding his riding of MISHANI WARRIOR, R. McMahon stated that the gelding began well and was able to obtain a position just behind the leaders running to the first turn, however when CARLSON’S FELT and QUEEN COMMANDER (C. Munce) improved forward 3 wide, his mount commenced to overrace and on several occasions in the back straight had to be restrained off the heels of HYPOTHESIS (D. Griffin) when the pace steadied. He added that his mount was very awkward to ride and when placed under pressure in the early stages of the straight to the inside of the heels of QUEEN COMMANDER it did not respond quickly, and then approaching the 200m when CAP BIANCO improved to his inside, he was then forced to go across the heels of CARLSON’S FELT to obtain clear running.
