GENERAL
All horses racing in the Stradbroke Handicap today were inspected by the veterinary surgeon on Friday 5 June 2015. A further examination was completed on Knoydart this morning which passed the gelding fit to run.
Race 1: Coca Cola Amatil Hinkler H’Cap - 1200m
The start was delayed significantly when PHELAN READY proved very difficult to load. Trainer J. McLachlan was advised that the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
WHISKEY ALLROUND – Began awkwardly. Hung out on the home turn.
PHELAN READY – Began awkwardly.
SILENT WHISPER – Got its head up near the 700m when heavily bumped by FACILE TIGRE.
TOKAMAK – Overraced in the middle stages.
EXCELLANTES – Inconvenienced rounding the home turn.
INTO THE RED – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn.
BYMONASHEE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
FACILE TIGRE - Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospective.
Race 2: James Boag’s Premium Lancaster Stakes - 1200m
SWINDLERS MISS – Slow to begin.
NILETTE – Bumped heavily on jumping away. Near the 700m had to be steadied when crowded for room.
STICK WITH ME – Bumped heavily on jumping away. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority.
THE BEE’S KNEES – Began very awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained lacerations to the off fore fetlock and both hind legs.
CERTAIN ELLIE – Making the first turn got its head up and hung out badly. Bumped heavily on straightening and then hung in badly in the straight. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have been galloped on the near hind leg.
BANDA SPICE – Checked severely making the turn near the 900m when badly crowded by ROXY RHYTHM, which shifted in abruptly whilst hanging.
POSITIVE CHARGE – Held up rounding the turn and was then again inconvenienced and checked near the 200m when CERTAIN ELLIE (A. Creighton), shifted in whilst its rider was pulling his whip through to his right hand.
ROXY RHYTHM – Altered course and shifted out near the 200m.
HARLEM RIVER – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. The stable representative was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the filly racing again.

Race 3: Ambassador Travel The Wayne Wilson Mile - 1600m
STAVIVA was declared a late scratching at 8.45 a.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.
KURTLEY – Began awkwardly and dipped.
FRESPANOL – Hung in in the early stages. Inconvenienced near the 600m when GRAYSON SQUARE (G. Schofield) shifted out slightly. Jockey Schofield was advised to exercise care.
ANY DAY WILL DO – Raced wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward by its rider to find a position outside the lead.
H. Bowman (FLAMINGO STAR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 200m in that he allowed his mount to shift out when not fully clear of LUCKY LAGO (T. Berry), resulting in LUCKY LAGO having to be checked. Jockey Bowman’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 8 June 2015 and to expire midnight 19 June 2015.
Race 4: Best Security Dane Ripper Stakes - 1350m
PERON – After arriving at the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race.
DANSOLEI – Stood flatfooted when the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer K. Wood was advised that the horse would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to starting again.
TARLOSHAN – Missed the start. For a considerable distance in the home straight was unable to obtain clear running and was not fully tested. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G. Boyd was advised that a veterinary certificate must be produced prior to mare racing again.
POLITENESS – Began awkwardly with its head in the air. Got its head up when overracing near the 900m.
CATKINS – Bumped heavily near the 1200m.
BRING ME THE MAID - After the 200m had to be steadied when crowded for room by CATKINS, which shifted in marginally. Jockey H. Bowman (CATKINS) was advised to exercise more care.
ROSE OF CHOICE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
Race 5: Sky Racing Queensland Guineas – 1600m
TIME FOR WAR – Connections advised that due to the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field today. The horse raced 3 wide midfield. For some distance after straightening was held up and unable to improve its position.
SURE AND FAST – Began awkwardly. In the home straight hung in badly and proved difficult to ride.
GOOD PROJECT – Began awkwardly. Near the 700m became unbalanced.
MISS COVER GIRL – Slow into stride.
HIJACK HUSSY – Slow into stride.
LUCKY TOM – Trapped very wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead. When questioned App R. Jamieson stated that from the wide draw she was instructed to go forward to find a position. App Jamieson stated she had to make use of the gelding to stride forward to race outside the lead. App Jamieson further stated whilst she was aware the tempo of the race in the middle stages was solid she was mindful of her instructions from the trainer to not unnecessarily restrain the horse but rather allow it to stride. App Jamieson said in hindsight she agreed that she may have erred by increasing the tempo from the 600m. App Jamieson’s explanation was noted.
MURT THE FLIRT – Near the 1200m when overracing clipped the heels of TIME FOR WAR and blundered.
AIMEE – Near the 600m had to be restrained when awkwardly placed close to heels.
DEIHEROS – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Connections advised the horse will now be sent for a spell.
Race 6: BMW J.J. Atkins - 1600m
SAGARONNE – Examined prior to the start after being kicked when parading behind the stalls and cleared to start. Lost an off hind plate in running.
LOOK TO THE STARS – Began very awkwardly. In the early stages threw its head about and overraced.
TYPING - Slow to begin.
BASSETT – Near the 200m made heavy contact with COUNTERATTACK and became unbalanced.
COUNTERATTACK – Near the 200m became unbalanced after being bumped on the hind quarters of BASSETT.
PEPPERANO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
BLUEBERRY HILL – Lost an off fore plate in running.
ASHLEE MARIE – Lost a near fore plate in running.
Race 7: Channel Seven Queensland Derby - 2200m
SADLER’S LAKE – Reported to have shifted its near fore plate en route to the course. Had to be replated. Was examined on 2 occasions and declared suitable to race. Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
GRAPPA BRANDY – Began awkwardly. Near the 100m was held up when awkwardly placed close to heels.
QUICK STRIKE – Slow to begin.
HARRY – At the post on the first occasion crowded for room inside of CHILLIN WITH DYLAN, which was hanging in badly.
WORTHY CAUSE – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
CHILLIN WITH DYLAN – Raced very keenly in the early and middle stages.
RISING LUCK – Checked from heels near the 1600m.
WERTHER – Held up rounding the home turn.
REDOUTABLE HEART - Held up rounding the home turn.
HIGH MIDNIGHT - Held up rounding the home turn.
THERMOGENIC – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance approaching the 100m.
JUMBO PRINCE – Jockey T. Bell explained that from the draw he was instructed to ride the horse in a handy position with cover if possible. Jockey Bell stated that straight after the jump he considered his options however, was aware of a number of runners to his inside all seemed intent on going forward and for this reason he made the decision to ride the horse where it was comfortable, which resulted in the colt settling further back in the race than was anticipated.
Race 8: AAMI Stradbroke H’Cap - 1350m
FAST ‘N’ ROCKING was declared a late scratching at 10.40 a.m. acting on veterinary advice after sustaining a bruise to the heel of the near fore leg.
SRIKANDI – Trainer C. Maher advised that the bar plate on one of the front feet broke requiring it to be replated and racing in ¾ plates.
DELECTATION – Raced keenly in the early stages. Severely checked off the heels of runners near the 800m when the tempo steadied in front. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on the off hind leg.
CHARLIE BOY – Approaching the first turn after the 1000m was inclined to overrace and was checked from heels in front. For a considerable distance after this overraced badly and refused to settle resulting in it being checked near the 600m. Checked when disappointed for running near the 400m.
LUMOSTY – Inconvenienced near the 900m and again badly unbalanced near the 700. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
BIG MONEY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
BLACK HEART BART – Raced 5 wide without cover throughout.
HOT SNITZEL – Lost an off fore plate in running.
Race 9: Evergreen Turf Brisbane Cup - 2200m
JETSET LAD – Fractious in its stall then bounded when the gates opened. When caught racing 3 wide without cover was allowed to stride forward by its rider and raced outside the lead after the 1000m.
MAJOR MAJOR – Crowded at the start.
LANDLOCKED – Raced 3 wide from the 1000m.
LET’S MAKE ADEAL – Raced 4 wide from the 1000m. Jockey C. Williams was fined $200.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
