Race 1:  www.brc.com.au Maiden H'cap – 1630m
 
JOMAR SAGA – Apprentice J. Oliver was reprimanded for  failing to claim his full allowance.
 
SCARLETT HUSSIE – Slow to begin.  Raced in restricted room for some distance passing the 600m and near the 500m was checked when again tightened for room.
 
MIA MAGIC – Slow to begin.  Shifted out to avoid heels after passing the 600m, tightening the running of SCARLETT HUSSIE and ENDLESS HOPE.
 
IMPERIAL DRAGON – Slow to begin.
 
SHARP SPEEDO – Jumped away awkwardly.  Had to be steadied near the 600m when improving to the inside of another runner.  Had to be steadied away from heels inside the 200m and then shifted out to obtain clear running near the 100m.
 
ENDLESS HOPE – Raced wide in the early stages.  Apprentice T. Brooker, rider of MIA MAGIC, pleaded guilty  to a charge of careless riding in that approaching  the 400m she allowed her mount to shift out when not fully  clear of ENDLESS HOPE, resulting in jockey A. Spinks having to take hold of ENDLESS HOP to avoid the heels of ASTRONOMIC.  Apprentice Brooker was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight 16 October and to expire at midnight, 25 October. Shifted out and made contact with another runner near the 100m.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.  

GRAN SABANA – Raced wide in the early stages without cover and then obtained a position outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
IN KOBE – After leaving the 300m improved into a run to the inside of JOMAR SAGA and near the 200m  was momentarily tightened for room when that horse shifted in.
 
ASTRONOMIC – Following the disappointing performance, a post race veterinary examination revealed a slightly irregular heart beat. Trainer B. Ahrens  advised that he would have an ECG performed on the horse and would report the results back to stewards.
 
LA BOADICEA – Bled during the event.   Trainer B. Lineburg was advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.  Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 2: Canadian Club Melbourne Cup Day Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1630m
 
WOW FACTOR – When the pace slowed near the 900m improved to the inside of the heels of another runner and had to be checked.
 
NEUSCHWANSTEIN – When questioned regarding her riding in the early stages, apprentice B. Stower stated she was instructed to ride forward and lead if possible, however passing the 1400m she was unable to restrain her mount and as a result the gelding overraced and hung out in the middle stages. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the horse would now be spelled.
 
GO ON RED – Passing the 700m  improved taking another runner wider.
 
FUSINA – Forced wider after passing the 700m.  When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted, particularly after passing the 800m, jockey J. Byrne stated that when the tempo eased at the 1000m he elected to improve his position passing the 800m, however GO ON RED, which was being steadied, shifted out near the 700m, forcing him wider on the track. The explanation was noted.
 
 
Race 3: Sky Thoroughbred Central Maiden Plate 4yo & Up Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
BIDZILL – Slow to begin.
 
LEGS UNBARRED – Slow to begin.
 
SCHWARZY – Slow to begin.  Had to be steadied form heels near the 700m.   Obliged to  steady from heels near the 300m when LEGS UNBARRED shifted out when not fully clear.  L. Tarrant, rider of LEGS UNBARRED, was advised to exercise more care.
 
HIGH SPECS – Shifted out under pressure in the straight.
 
 
Race 4: Veuve Society QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1200m
 
BABY MERLIN – After becoming restless in the barriers lunged forward prior to the start and made contact with the front gate.  Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with another runner. Shifted out after leaving the 800m and had to be steadied from heels.
 
KING CLEO – Bumped on jumping away.  Forced wider on the track after leaving the 800m.
 
HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Jockey J. Lloyd reported at scale his mount lunged forward prior to the start.  Raced wide without cover.
 
FALKIRK DRIVE – Slow to begin.
 
JUST TRUCKIN’ – Shifted in near the 1000m when overracing and made heavy contact with LIPSTICK LOVER, which became unbalanced.   JUST TRUCKIN’ continued to overrace and had to be checked from heels near the 900m.  Had to be checked severely from heels  passing the 800m.
 
EXCALIBRATOR - Shifted in near the 900m, causing another runner to be steadied from heels. L. Dittman, rider of EXCALIBRATOR, was advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.
 
MADAM SHAZAM – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: Gallopers Sports Club Class 4 H'cap – 1200m
 
TIBROGARGAN MISS – Reared as the gates opened, resulting in jockey J. Lloyd electing to dismount. Trainer D. Hansen was  advised that a warning would be placed on the horse.
 
FRENCH SONG –  Jumped away awkwardly and overraced in the early stages and hung out in the middle stages.    Apprentice jockey L. Tarrant accidentally dropped  his whip near 100m.   Trainer L. Ross was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners.
 
Race 6: Christmas Functions @ BRC Class 3 Plate – 1350m
 
MAGIC MOUSE – Blundered on jumping away.
 
EMPHASIS – Hampered soon after the start when tightened for room.
 
BLINKIN’ – Jumped away awkwardly.  A veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
DELIGHTFUL FEELING – Jumped away awkwardly and was then bumped by another runner. Lost its near hind plate in running.
 
DEITCH – Raced wide without cover.
Race 7: XXXX Summer Class 5 H'cap – 1350m
 
BIG DECISION – Broke through the stalls prior to the start being effected.  The horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon  and cleared to start.
 
PEARLY COURT – Blundered shortly after the start, almost dislodging its rider.
 
SHIPWRECKED – Shifted out away from heels passing the 700m.
 
TRUE ROYAL – Forced wider after leaving the 700m.  Hung out after leaving the 500m.
 
 
Race 8: Hamilton Hotel Class 2 H'cap – 1630m
 
NO MAGIC NEEDED – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit.  The horse subsequently settled midfield.  Bumped shortly after the start.
 
ANGEL’S DESTINY – Jockey A. Spinks reported at scale his mount jarred up  during the race.
 
ESKIMO KING – Jockey J. Lloyd reported he felt something was amiss with the gelding.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg.  Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
ISN’T SHE ELEGANT – Began awkwardly.
 
NELUMBO – Slow into stride.
