TINGLE MARC – Dipped on jumping away.

REINA DE HIELO – Raced 3 wide without cover.

BEACON STREET – Checked near 200m.  T. Harrison, rider of FAST VISION, pleaded guilty  to a charge of careless riding in that near the 200m she allowed her mount to shift out, whilst riding along, when not sufficiently clear of BEACON STREET, resulting in that horse having to be checked to avoid the heels of FAST VISION.   T. Harrison was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight 27 November and to expire at  midnight, 9 December.

Race 2: BRC Christmas Carnival CG&E Class 4 H'cap – 1200m

WATLING – Slow into stride.

JACK LANCASTER – Slow into stride.

JOMAR’S ELEMENT – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, L. Cassidy advised that the horse was slow into stride however it had been his intention to lead.  When asked why he did not restrain in the early stages and allow  GRACIDA to cross, he said that his mount in its last few starts has shown an inclination to hang out and he was concerned had he done so he would have been left racing without cover.   He added whilst he was mindful of the tempo they were travelling in the early and middle stages he was of the view to have restrained  would  allow GRACIDA to cross and this would have been a disadvantage to his own horse’s chances. He said despite the speed they set, his mount fought on well and he was satisfied with the gelding’s finishing performance.

GRACIDA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey R. Fradd advised it is a horse which always races on the speed and from the wide draw he rode it hard early in an endeavour to cross, however he became aware that  JOMAR’S ELEMENT had improved to his inside, which resulted in him being unable to cross that runner.  When asked why he did not elect to restrain the horse and race outside the leader, he said GRACIDA has shown in the past it resents being when restrained.  He added that as the horse has had a wind operation, it has  always been allowed to stride along in its races.   Trainer T. Gollan confirmed  it would have been difficult for his rider, once it began well, as it has shown a propensity to race keenly.  He said, in his opinion had his rider continued to press forward the horse would have weakened.  Mr Gollan added they had experimented with variations of gear on the horse recently and he did not express dissatisfaction with jockey Fradd’s ride and felt, in the circumstances, his rider had little alternative than to take the options he did.
