Carey Race 1: Ellyce (MOO) Galvin Maiden Plate (1) – 1350m BEAU ISA – Slow to begin. Shifted out abruptly approaching the 100m. HIGH WIND – Slow to begin. Rounding the home turn was held up for clear running. ATOUCHMORE – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 600m. L. Dittman, rider of BEAU ISA, was issued with a reprimand and advised to show greater care when shifting ground in future. Inside the 100m was obliged to alter course to the inside of the heels of BEAU ISA in order to improve. INVERARAY – Hampered and taken wider approaching the 600m. LOVE TO LIVE – Approaching and rounding the home turn was held up for clear running. Had to be checked to avoid heels of BEAU ISA approaching the 100m. CAPA CAYLEE – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. HIGH SPECS – When asked to explain the disappointing performance, jockey G. Colless was unable to offer any explanation other than to say the mare may not have handled the rain affected track. LOVE TO LIVE – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer Mr B. Baldwin advised that the mare had not raced for over a month and he had increased its trackwork in the period, however he was not overly confident of its chances today. Race 2: Chris (TIC) Galvin Maiden Plate (2) – 1350m OPTION TRADER – Slow to begin. LUNA FIORE – Raced 3 wide without cover. SOUND INVESTMENT - Apprentice R. Payne, rider of SHADES OF SERENA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 900m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SOUND INVESTMENT, which had to be checked for some distance to avoid the heels of SHADES OF SERENA. As a consequence of this incident, OPTION TRADER and WHAT’S THAT also had to be checked . Apprentice Payne was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight 18 December, the expiration of a previously incurred suspension, and to expire at midnight, 30 December. Race 3: Tyler (TY) Craven Class 3 Plate – 1350m SAYS ME - Was unable to improve from the 600m until approaching the home turn when awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring THAT’S MY BOY. AUSSIE JACK – Raced 3 wide without cover. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which weakened badly in the home straight , revealed the gelding to be mildly distressed. JILL’S CHARM – Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount failed to handle the rain affected track. Race 4: Tellina (Goomba) Craven QTIS 3yo Fillies Maiden Plate - 1200m IRISH EYES – Trainer M. Kropp was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the filly by the prescribed time. Declared a late scratching at 3.54 pm after it was unable to be loaded into the barriers. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable. 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets4 cents in the dollar on the face value place bets on the winner15 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets15 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets Trainer Mr M. Kropp was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. CASINO EVIL - Hampered when tightened for room at the start. Raced wide. GLORIOUS TRIUMPH – Jumped away awkwardly. Trainer L. Fraser was advised that the filly will be ineligible to compete in the metropolitan area until it establishes form at provincial meetings. ST HILARY – Bumped on the hind quarters at the start. HIDE THE CANDY – Soon after the start hung in and clipped the heels of FILLE DU SOLEIL. Then trailed the field for the remainder of the event. Trainer L. Fraser will be advised that HIDE THE CANDY will be ineligible to compete in races in the metropolitan area until it establishes competitive form in the provincial area. He was further advised that the horse must compete satisfactorily in an official trial prior to racing again. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. KITTY – Raced 3 wide without cover. Race 5: Amgrow QTIS 3yo C&G Maiden Plate – 1200m MUTUAL AGREEMENT – Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of the tiring SUIT UP DAN passing the 200m. STARCOURT – Jumped away awkwardly. BAGGINS – Hampered at the start. Raced extremely wide without cover throughout. RIVER FIRE – Hampered at the start. EAT MY TRUST – Held up in the early part of the home straight. Raced 3 wide without cover. Race 6: Kiarne (Karney) Tillyer-Lordi Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1650m KURRAJONG DRAGON – Held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Race 7: Sky Thoroughbred Central F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1200m On return to scale a protest was lodged by apprentice T. Brooker, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Sheezalady, against Windy Sands being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final stages. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, stewards were of the view that Windy Sands did shift in over the final 100m and made contact with Sheezalady, which also shifted out slightly approaching the winning post. Stewards could not be satisfied that the contact over the final stages warranted a reversal of placings bearing in mind the head margin and dismissed the objection and gave correct weight on the Judge’s placings. Race 8: AQWA Constructions C&G Class 1 H'cap – 1200m SANGUINE RED – Slow to begin TINGLE MARC – Severely buffeted at the start. STORMY DESTINY – Severely hampered at the start. Jockey J.Byrne explained at the scale his mount would not stretch out in the early stages and trailed the field by a considerable distance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was lame in the off fore fetlock. Trainer H. Page was advised that she must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next race start. OTTOFROM HAMBURG – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters at the start. DIDACHE – Raced 3 wide without cover. FIVE STUD POKER – Jockey J. Lloyd explained that his mount failed to handle today’s rain affected track.
