Race 1: MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL FROM THE BRC QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1615M
 
The start was delayed when GOOD LUCK MALELA underwent a veterinary examination.
 
REALING – Forced wider on the home turn.
 
ZAMEX – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
VOLPINO – Shifted out abruptly to avoid heels near the 400m.
 
EASTERN PARADISE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
GOOD LUCK MALELA – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SMART DEVIL – Trainer B. Laming advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a more forward position. The horse was ridden forward and settled in a handy position. Forced wider on the home turn.
 
GYPSY MISS – Forced wider on the home turn.
 
DAZZLE EM SID – Raced wide throughout.
 
MURT REYNOLDS – Overraced when the pace steadied approaching the 800m. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
Race 2: SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1050M
 
CELLARGIRL – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
SHE’S OUR STAR – Made contact with another runner on jumping. Shifted ground under pressure in the straight.
 
INITIALIZE – Raced wide without cover.
 
MISS SIDUAL – Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly in the early stages.
 
SOZZLED – Raced wide throughout.
 
STAR PICKET – Made contact with another runner on jumping.
 
FRANCISCA – As P. Hammersley was to be overweight, C. Parnham was substituted as rider. P. Hammersley was fined $200. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
Race 3: NEW YEARS EVE RACEDAY BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 2020M
 
ROCKNET – Had to be steadied near the 250m.
 
COURT’S STAR – Had to be checked near the 300m when tightened for room. Apprentice D. Dunn, the rider of ROCK ON IVY, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in. M. Cahill, the rider of JIMMY HOFFA, was also reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out, taking RETUNE out on to COURT’S STAR. Apprentice N. Masuda, the rider of RETUNE, was also advised to exercise more care when he allowed his mount to shift out near the 250m when not fully clear of COURT’S STAR.
 
MAGNATUNE – Had to check off heels approaching the winning post. G. Colless was questioned regarding why he did not improve to the inside of LEVER LEVER after leaving the 100m. He stated that he had committed himself to the outside of that horse’s heels and when it weakened quickly, he then was forced to check off its heels.
 
FRIGHTENING BOLT – Pulled hard in the middle stages.
 
SHANAKEE – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted to the inside to obtain clear running approaching the 300m.
 
SPIRIT MINDED – As N. Day was indisposed due to injury, B. Parnham was substituted as rider.
 
JIMMY HOFFA – Trainer B. Laming advised that the horse had competed at Lismore the previous day in a race that was subsequently abandoned and he was satisfied that the horse had taken no ill effect from that effort. A pre-race veterinary examination cleared the horse to race.
 
Race 4: GOPHER COFFEE ORIGIN JOCKEY SERIES RACE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M
 
KLAMMER – Had to steady away from heels near the 300m.
 
BOARD DIRECTOR – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR – Raced wide without cover after leaving the 800m.
 
ZOUZOUKAKIA – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 5: HAMILTON HOTEL ORIGIN JOCKEYS SERIES RACE BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 1350M
 
DENARIUS – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FIERY HEIGHTS – Knuckled on jumping.
 
FORGOTTEN YEARS – Raced wide without cover.
 
MYSTIC OPAL – Commenced to overrace near the 1100m, improved to the inside of FORGOTTEN YEARS and had to be checked and then raced ungenerously for some time after this incident. Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 600m. Jockey L. Cassidy reported that after having to restrain his mount from heels near the 1100m and being forced wider at the 600m, he was disappointed with its finishing effort in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. A swab sample was taken.
 
REVITALISE – Had to be checked near the 1100m when tightened for room.
 
BUSHY – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB C,G&E CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
 
CROOKED BLAZE, which got its near hind leg caught in the barriers, was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon, was declared a late scratching at 3:33 pm on veterinary advice. Trainer L. Davies was advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance before it is permitted to race again. Following the event stewards ordered that all monies invested on CROOKED BLAZE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
 
4 cents in the dollar for the Win #8
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #8
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #9
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #6
 
NITE ROCKER – Finished distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the off foreleg. Trainer L. Kelly was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.
 
STELLA OMBRA – Held up rounding the home turn and again held up until passing the 200m.
 
SLYDINI – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 7: WWW.BRC.COM.AU F&M CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
 
VIENNA QUEEN – Bumped on jumping.
 
SHEISWHATSHEIS – Raced three wide.
 
MY LITTLE FLICKA – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room between runners. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MAGIC I AM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had a slow recovery and was exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that prior to the horse racing again he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination. He indicated that the mare would now be sent for a spell.
 
SHOWER OF HEARTS – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room between runners. Raced wide without cover.
 
STAR OF NIGHT – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 8: BRC MEMBERSHIPS NO MORE THAN TWO METRO WINS THIS YEAR H'CAP – 1615M
 
TOP TONE – Inclined to buck shortly after the start. Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 200m between BECKONING LIGHT, which was racing tight to the outside, and BLACK JET, which shifted out. B. Stewart, the rider of BLACK JET, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of TOP TONE. B. Stewart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, to commence at midnight on 24 December and expire at midnight on Wednesday 4 January 2017.
 
LORDAG – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SEBRINA – Raced wide without cover.
 
BLACK JET – Held up on the home turn.
 
GLENDARA – Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to take up the position in the lead.
 
MUKADDAMAH SON – Had to be steadied near the 100m when tightened for room.
 
RECKLESS ABANDON – Held up from near the entrance to the straight until the 100m.
 
BECKONING LIGHT – Held up in the early stages of the straight.
