Birchley advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position. Settled behind the leader. INVERARAY – Trainer B. Race 4: GA SEASON PASS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1640M EL GRECO – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. ADHERE – Overraced in the early and middle stages, had to be shifted out by its rider near the 1200m and strode forward to a position outside the lead. BOCAGE – Began awkwardly. N. Day explained that the intention had been from the inside gate to ride in a handy position. He said after the mare began awkwardly he did not wish to race in a rearward position on the rail and for this reason immediately shifted to the outside of WALWA. He said rounding the turn near the 1400m it became obvious that WALWA was not intending to race near the rail and as BOCAGE was left three wide without cover, he felt he had little option but to restrain and shift back towards the rail and save ground. He said that after this the horse travelled only fairly in the run and then just prior to straightening he had to steady when caught between the heels of ROAD TO THE BAY and SAIL THE STARS, both of which commenced to weaken. His explanation was accepted. Trainer R. Heathcote’s stable representative confirmed that the horse would be sent for an immediate spell. PEPPA JELLY – Crowded slightly at the start. Race 5: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB F&M BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1050M SORORITY SISTER – Apprentice R. Williams stated that after being crossed the tempo steadied in front and when PRIMED FOR DESTINY shifted away from the rails she elected to stride forward to try to race outside the lead, however when she made that decision, THORSBORNE then shifted her horse away from behind the leader, which resulted in her being left three wide for the trip. Race 6: DOREEN BIRD C,G&E BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1050M KLAMMER – Had to be severely checked near the 800m when crossed by EXCELARTIE, which was taken in by THE AMBASSADORE. R. Fradd, the rider of THE AMBASSADORE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in at that point, causing EXCELARTIE to be taken in across the running of KLAMMER. Jockey Fradd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 7 January and expire at midnight on Thursday 19 January 2017.
