Carey GENERAL Due to the abandonment of Randwick, all race times were amended as follows: Race 1 – 12.25 pm, Race 2 – 1pm, Race 3 – 1.35pm, Race 4 – 2.10 pm, Race 5 – 2.45 pm, Race 6 – 3.25 pm, Race 7 – 4.05 pm, Race 8 – 4.45 pm, Race 9 – 20 pm. Due to the predicted heat conditions today, the following riders were permitted to ride half a kilogram overweight to allow them to take in fluids: R. Wiggins (Race 6,7,8), L. Cassidy (Race 4), M. Cahill (Race 4,8), B. Stewart (Race 4). Race 1: Val And Eddie Machin QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m PINCH PASSION – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced when briefly tightened for room near the 1100m. Shifted out abruptly inside the 200m. Examined by the veterinary surgeon following the race with no abnormalities reported following a report from the jockey that he felt the gelding may have been slightly sore. JAYDEE INDY – Slow to begin. WHO AM I – Slow to begin. SOUTH OF FRANCE – Became restless in the barriers. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slight respiratory noise on return to the enclosure. Trainer D. Vandyke advised he would have the gelding scoped on return to the stables. Race 2: Beenleigh Bowls Club Is Back Open H’cap – 2030m SHOREHAM – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden back in the field if circumstance permit. The horse subsequently settled in a midfield position. Race 3: Coolphase Class 3 Plate – 1050m LOVE A ROSE – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Jockey J. Orman reported at scale the filly was disappointing today and connections advised it may be going for a spell. HOT GOSSIP – Tightened for room between runners near the 500m. Inclined to lay in after passing the 900m. DYLAN’S LUCK – Shifted in slightly near the 500m. VISION IN MOTION – Shifted out slightly making the home turn. Lost off fore plate in running. WIGGLESWORTH – Held up rounding the home turn and then again tightened for room passing the 300m. JUST ORM – Raced wide without cover throughout. SHIGERO MAHOGANY – Held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 100m. Race 4: In Rememberance Of Elsie & William Morgan QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1630m The start was delayed some 7 minutes when AHNDRAS had to be replated. STYLIAN – Connections advised the horse would be ridden back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. Unable to be restrained and raced 4 wide without cover in a handy position throughout. Bumped near the 1200m. MISS KINDILAN – Knuckled when being led out onto the track. A veterinary examination cleared the filly to race. Bumped on jumping away. Got its head up and had to be restrained and shifted out, hampering another runner near the 1200m. ROYAL ATOM – Bumped on jumping away. Had to be steadied away from heels passing the 400m. RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR – Shifted out abruptly on jumping away and lost ground. Apprentice B. Ainsworth reported at scale that after being slow to begin it was not her intention to race in a forward position however she was unable to restrain the gelding. UP THE TEMPO – Held up passing the 300m and did not obtain clear running until after passing the 200m. COLLYWOBBLE – Jockey M. Hellyer reported that his mount laid in throughout the race. Race 5: Site Pro 1 CG&E NMW H’cap – 1350m SILENTO – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. JETSONIC – Slow to begin. SPUR LE JOUER – Slow to begin. HAVASAY – When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages jockey D. Browne stated that after beginning fairly he attempted to position one off the fenced by forcing SPUR LE JOUER closer to the rail, but when apprentice T. Brooker held her position one off he was then forced to race 3 wide. He further added that as the pace was only moderate in the early stages he elected to improve his position leaving the 800m and continued to race 3 wide, and, in his opinion, the gelding only finished the race off fairly. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start. Race 6: Business Insurance Group F&M NMW H’cap – 1350m ALL THAT IS – As jockey J. Cassidy was to be overweight, J. Lloyd was substituted as the rider of the horse. PASSIONFLOWER – Jockey J. Orman reported at scale it was not his intention to race as forward as he did, however when caught wide in the early stages he elected to push forward. DON’T TELL MAMA – Disappointed for a run inside the 200m. RED CHANDELIER – Had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 150m. MAGAZINE MISS – Held up over the concluding stages. KIM NOIR – Raced wide without cover. GYPSY SECRET – Raced wide without cover. Race 7: Cooper Reeves CG&E NMW H’cap – 1350m BINICO’S PRICE – Trainer P. King was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Bumped on jumping away. Jockey R. Wiggins reported behind the barriers that he felt something was amiss with the gelding. A veterinary examination revealed no issues and was passed fit to start. UNO BEST – Knuckled on jumping away. When questioned regarding his riding of the horse, apprentice M. Murphy stated he had been instructed by trainer P. Facoory to lead and that he complied with those instructions, positioning in front near the 900m, and that from the 500m he attempted to place some pressure on the gelding in an endeavour to increase the tempo and hopefully gain a break on the rest of the field. He said he rode it similarly to what he did at the Gold Coast on 31 December when it won on that occasion. Trainer P. Facoory advised that his instructions were to lead and run along in front as the gelding has a high cruising speed and he had expected the horse to be ridden more patiently when in front today. After reviewing his ride at the Gold Coast stewards noted apprentice Murphy’s explanation however advised him that in similar circumstances he would be expected show more patience than he had shown on this occasion. VOLTAIRE LUMIERE – Jumped away awkwardly. DREAM HABIT – Slow to begin. Race 8: Toxfree & MND Open H’cap – 1350m MURT THE FLIRT – Restrained off heels near the 900m. Shifted out from behind heels near the 500m and made contact with another runner. BANDA SPICE – Bumped near the 500m. Raced wide without cover throughout. SIEGFRIED – Held up rounding the home turn and continued to be held up until near the 200m. MY LITTLE FLICKA – Jockey R. Wiggins accidentally dropped his whip near the 100m. Lost near fore plate In running. BINALONG ROAD – Had to be steadied away from heels close to the finish line. Lost off fore plate in running. DREAM CHOICE – Trainer R. Heathcote’s representative advised stewards that the gelding will now be retired from racing after its disappointing performance today. Race 9: Queensland Brain Institute Benchmark 85 H’cap – 1200m ONE BAR NONE – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped another runner. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 900m. Shifted away from another runner when weakening near the 300m. PROFILER – Overraced passing the 900m and approaching the 800m had to be steadied away from heels. CATSEYE SURPRISE – Had to be steadied away from heels near the 300m. SUSPENSE – Hampered when taken wider near the 300m. OBERLAND – Hampered when taken wider near the 300m.
