LUJAC – The saddle on the gelding shifted back shortly after the start, placing its rider at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race. Apprentice Brooker said because of this incident at the start she had to allow her mount when caught wide in the early stages to stride forward and cross to the lead.

Race 4: Relaxed Racing Class 3 H’cap – 1640m

SHOTACROSSTHEBOW – Raced 3 wide in the early and middle stages and overraced badly. When commencing to give ground on the home turn was bumped and then steadied when crowded slightly. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.

START DREAMIN – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and did so for a considerable distance, resulting in the mare taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer P. Butterworth explained  that after the race his view was that the mare may have had some slight muscle soreness in the off side girth region.  He undertook to report any significant findings that  become apparent in the ensuing days.  A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer P. Butterworth was advised that the mare would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial, and a veterinary clearance must be produced  prior before being permitted to start again.

SO SERENE – Jockey J. Lloyd reported the filly changed strides on a number of occasions throughout the event.

Lloyd advised that the horse was slow to begin and he was obliged to settle at the rear of the field, which was contrary to the horse’s normal racing pattern. He added from that point the gelding  dropped the bit and never travelled comfortably throughout.  A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.

GREGORY – Slow into stride.

KOOROC – Slow to begin.

SKANDA –  Laid in and proved difficult to ride out in the straight. Raced 3 wide without cover.
