Hammersley was ill, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. L. Tarrant was declared the rider of a number of runners at jockey declaration time, however due to a suspension incurred in Sydney he was unable to fulfil these engagements and was subsequently replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: KISS AND MAKE UP AQUIS FARM QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1050M The start of this race was delayed when HI LIZZY required farrier attention in the enclosure. Upon arrival at the barriers the horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. SNITZ – Slow to begin. BOLD XAVVI – J. Orman reported at scale that his mount failed to handle the track conditions. NOBLE HUSSLER – Jumped away awkwardly, resulting in B. Stewart becoming unbalanced. Bumped shortly after the start. DANISH BINGO – Taken in by ACCEPTILE (D. Browne) after leaving the 800m. D. Browne was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in. R. Stewart reported at scale that his mount was held up and unable to secure clear running in the straight. HI LIZZY – Jumped awkwardly. Had to be steadied after leaving the 800m. Became unbalanced when racing in restricted room near the 600m. Held up in the early stages of the straight. HINGUS ROSE – Shifted in shortly after the start and bumped another runner. Race 2: QRIC EQUINE WELFARE PROGRAM OPEN H'CAP – 2200M MAGNATUNE – Pulled hard in the middle stages. Held up near the 500m. A. Sewell was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted on MAGNATUNE approaching the home turn. Apprentice Sewell stated that he improved between runners making the turn and elected to shift back to the inside where there was clear opportunity to do so to improve to the inside of CAILLEBOTTE. He added that his mount was left flat-footed when the leaders sprinted and he was unable to make ground quickly and was held up over the concluding stages when CAILLEBOTTE shifted back in. CAILLEBOTTE – Pulled hard in the middle stages. Race 3: THE RAY WHITE ASCOT QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 2000M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow A. Spinks, the rider of 3rd placegetter DAZZLE EM SID, to view the patrol footage in the straight. SON OF A BRUT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had a mildly slow recovery rate. Connections advised that the horse would be spelled. ERCOLANO – Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that whilst the gelding settled further forward than anticipated it travelled comfortably, however did not quicken when placed under pressure and she attributed this to the horse not being entirely comfortable in the rain-affected going. UP THE TEMPO – Had to alter course when taken in by runners to the outside near the 300m. PEGAPUS – Connections advised that from the wide barrier it would be the intention to have the horse ridden more conservatively in a midfield position with cover. Forced to race wide in the early stages and as a result J. Lloyd allowed his mount to stride forward near the 1200m. DIA DE REYES – Slow to begin. Bumped by a runner to the inside approaching the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next start. LET ME SAY THIS – Pulled hard in the middle stages. Shifted in under pressure after leaving the 300m, hampering runners to the inside. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. ROYAL ATOM – Slightly hampered after leaving the 300m. NORDIC SHOW – Got its hind leg caught in the barrier gate prior to the start, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Held up rounding the home turn. Slightly hampered after leaving the 300m. DAZZLE EM SID – Pulled hard in the middle stages. ALCHEMY GOLD – Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the middle stages. Race 4: MITAVITE CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1600M DECONSTRUCTED – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure inside the 100m. VENECIA – Slow to begin. WAR BABY – Slow to begin. Race 5: NOVOTEL BRISBANE AIRPORT CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M KEEP ON ROCKING was a late scratching at 2.26 pm following a report from the veterinary surgeon that the horse had reared up in its race day stall, struck its head and sustained an injury. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on KEEP ON ROCKING be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2:26 pm:0 cents in the dollar for the Win #132 cents in the dollar for place of winner #134 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #8 HEROISM – Slow to begin. Apprentice B. Ainsworth reported that her mount did not handle the track conditions today. CANDIKA – Raced wide throughout. Race 6: BYRNE FORD KEDRON CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M SKYLIMIT – Jumped out at the start and made contact with another runner. LIMERICK MOON – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide without cover. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had thumps. QUEEN TARA – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. J. Lloyd was questioned regarding the mare’s disappointing performance. He stated that he had ridden QUEEN TARA in work last Tuesday morning and the mare had worked very well, however he was concerned with her recovery rate following the gallop which he had pointed out to trainer T. Edmonds. He added that Mr Edmonds said that had been normal for the mare in this preparation, however jockey Lloyd was still confident of a forward showing today as the mare races well on rain-affected tracks. He also stated that he had some concerns with the mare’s action today. Mr Edmonds’ stable representative advised that the mare may spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had a slow recovery rate. ROUND MOUNTAIN GAL – On arrival at the barrier the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine the horse as it had blood in its mouth. Upon examination it was established that the horse had sustained a laceration to the tongue, however was cleared to start. YOU SAY NO WAY – Held up near the 200m and had to alter course to obtain clear running. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to HEAVY 8 retrospective except for the section between the 1200m and the 1300m which remained rated at HEAVY 10 Race 7: SOUTHERN SHEET & COIL OPEN H'CAP – 1350M JOPA – Raced wide without cover. BECKHAM – Jumped awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start. RULING FORCE – Ms R. Williams was questioned regarding the tactics she adopted on the horse. Ms Williams stated that she had been instructed to ride RULING FORCE vigorously in the early stages out of the barriers, however, passing the 1100m the gelding commenced to overrace and she was unable to restrain to a position outside of FLAMBOYER, which resulted in her mount overracing until after passing the 800m. Her explanation was accepted. CRAIGLEA WANDOO – Got its hind leg up on to the partition in the barriers, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Bumped shortly after the start. LAST SIGHT – Slow to begin. Race 8: AUSTACK SADDLERY PRODUCE NO METRO WINS H'CAP – 1350M FIERCELY DEFIANT – Raced wide after leaving the 800m. MOTION GRANTED – Raced wide throughout. CHIVADAHLII – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn. JETSONIC – Taken wider and had to be steadied away from heels shortly after the start. SWINDLERS MISS – Taken wider on the track near the 700m. KIM NOIR – Held up approaching the home turn. OUR RACKETEER – Slow to begin. WACK’EM – Raced ungenerously after leaving the 1200m.
