After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage apprentice B. Ainsworth, the rider of MARAU DAZE, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against MARGIN TRADER being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 200m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that although MARGIN TRADER shifted ground inwards under pressure passing the 200m, MARAU DAZE was inclined to lay in and away from that runner, and although both runners brushed slightly after leaving the 200m, stewards did not believe that any interference sustained by MARAU DAZE warranted a reversal of placings and therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
