REEF KNOT Apprentice T. Brooker was cautioned and advised at all times to ride her mounts out to the end of the race.

FUTURE EVENT When asked to explain the overall performance of the horse, jockey B. Stewart stated that, in his view, the gelding seemed to resent racing inside horses and as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated. He added that when placed under pressure soon after straightening the gelding proved disappointing in its finishing effort.
Race 2: The Bell Memorial BenchMark 80 H'cap 2200m

STANLEY When the pace steadied passing the winning post on the first occasion raced very ungenerously when being restrained.

LASCAR Stewards questioned jockey R. Fradd regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, particularly the reason for him not taking a trail in the early stages behind QABLA.. Jockey Fradd explained that LASCAR is one-paced and he was instructed to ride the horse in a handy position and for this reason he thought it would be detrimental to the horsees chances to settle at the rear of the field.  He added that he attempted to increase the pace in the back straight with a view to racing outside the leader, GOULDIAN, however LASCAR did not quicken and, in his view, was most disappointing today.. Trainer J. Meagher confirmed the instructions to settle the horse in a forward position if possible, and was also disappointed in todayys performance. The explanations were noted.

Byrne was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 13 August and to expire at midnight, 21 August.

EL CAMPEADOR   Jockey J. Byrne was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in leading on the horse today, which is in contrast to its normal racing pattern. He explained that he had no specific instructions and from the wide barrier and due to the lack of early speed in the race he was able to obtain the lead without overly pressuring the horse. Stewards noted his explanation.
