As P. Hammersley was overweight stewards permitted T. Harrison to be substituted as the rider of BRILLIANT JET.. Jockey Hammersley was subsequently fined $200.

Prior to the running of this event jockey R. Stewart requested the veterinary surgeon inspect INGEEGOODBE, which was subsequently cleared fit to race.
Stewards considered an objection lodged by B. Stewart the rider of MY GIULIANO which finished 2nd against INGEEGOODBE (R. Stewart) being declared the winner on the grounds that R. Stewart had used the whip more than the allowed times under the Rules prior to the 100m.. After viewing the official patrol footage and taking evidence from all parties it was established that R. Stewart had used the whip in excess of the permissible number prior to the 100m.. However, stewards could not be satisfied that the breach of this Rule had a material affect on the placings in the race and therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.

At a subsequent inquiry jockey R. Stewart (INGEEGOODBE) was fined $500 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr D. Bougoure the trainer of SNITZELLS JOY (App T. Brooker) which finished 3rd against GIRL IN A MILLION (B. Stewart) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 250m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official patrol footage stewards dismissed the objection.. Whilst it was acknowledged that at that stage GIRL IN A MILLION had shifted out abruptly and inconvenienced SNITZELLS JOY, bearing in mind the margin of approximately a length between the 2 horses at the finish stewards were not of the view that this interference had a material affect on the placings and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.
