Ostrofski SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT FROM DOOMBEN SATURDAY 14 OCTOBER 2017: Race 6: BANK OF QUEENSLAND WYNNUM BENCHMARK 75 HHCAP 2000M: After receiving advice from an interested party, stewards brought to the attention of the starter that the positioning into the barriers of SCOTTY BE GOTTI and SPEED GONZALES was incorrect. SCOTTY BE GOTTI drew barrier 7 and was positioned in barrier 6 and SPEED GONZALES drew barrier 6 and was positioned in barrier 7. Race 8: BARTONS OPEN HHCAP 1200M: Trainer A. Denham advised that MOUNT NEBO would be retired after its effort in this event. GENERAL As L. Tarrant was indisposed due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: BREAST CANCER NETWORK AUSTRALIA QTIS 2YO HHCAP 1110M YOU KNOW THE ONE Steadied off heels near the 800m.. Held up rounding the home turn. Held up after leaving the 300m. BAUHINIA LUCK Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide without cover. FULLAZABOOT Jumped awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with another runner. GRAND ALIBI Raced wide throughout. Finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Apprentice E. Ljung was examined by the Club doctor on return to scale after being hit in the face by a clod during the event. KURIL FOX Bumped shortly after the start. RAINS APLENTY After racing wide in the early stages, was eased to take up a position back in the field approaching the first turn. BABY BOO Raced wide without cover. ACCEPTITA Had to steady away from heels near the 800m. Race 2: PASPALEY F&M ONE METRO WIN HHCAP 1200M LADY SIOUX Struck heels and blundered near the 1000m, almost dislodging the rider. It was established that after being crossed by PEKING ROAD, which was then steadied, LADY SIOUX struck the heels of LOOSE GOOSE. P. Hammersley reported that after clipping heels near the 1000m his mount was reluctant to stretch out after that incident and as a result was eased in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MANAYA Jumped awkwardly. HELLAROO Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. PLUCKY GIRL J. Lloyd reported that his mount failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. ROYAL HOOTENANNY Lost the off fore plate in running. LOOSE GOOSE The veterinary surgeon reported post-race that the horse had sustained a laceration to the near hind fetlock. Race 3: THE PROP HOUSE OPEN HHCAP 2200M VASSAL Connections advised that the horse would be ridden quietly. The horse settled back in the field. B. Stewart reported that his mount travelled reasonably well until the 600m, when asked to improve, and then the gelding did not quicken and he was of the opinion that it failed to handle the track conditions. ANTON EN AVANT Strainer S. Lee was questioned regarding the horsees improved performance. He stated that he was disappointed with the ride at its previous start as in his opinion it got too far back in the field in a slowly run race from a from a favourable draw. WAR BABY Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward today. The horse led. Apprentice M. Murphy was questioned regarding his riding of the mare. He stated that he was instructed to ride the horse forward and she overraced slightly in the early stages but he was of the opinion that she had settled nicely near the 1600m, however again began to overrace slightly near the 1000m. His explanation was noted. Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $200 for using the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. Following the running of Race 2 a number of riders expressed concerns about visibility in the prevailing conditions, however, had no concerns regarding the state of the track and indicated a preparedness to ride in Race 3 and then reassess the situation. Following the running of Race 3 several riders again expressed concerns with visibility. With continuing rain forecast and surface water being present on the track, stewards declared that the remainder of the meeting be abandoned.
