GENERAL
 
As T. Harrison was indisposed due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Trainer C. Waller was fined $100 for failing to product Thoroughbred Identification Cards for his runners today.
 
Race 1: MAKERS MARK CLASS 3 PLATE – 1350M
 
DOUBT DEFYING – Shifted in near the 900m, brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
 
EMINENT – The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse had been galloped on on the off foreleg.
 
UNBIASED – Forced wider approaching the 900m.
 
MISHANI BULLITT – Jumped awkwardly. Brushed the running rail after passing the 1200m.
 
CABIN FEVER – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted in and brushed the rail when overracing near the 900m.
 
GODZONE GIRL – Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the early stages and approaching the 900m had to be steadied away from heels, forcing UNBIASED wider. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 600m.
 
Race 2: CANADIAN CLUB BENCHMARK 85 H'CAP – 1615M
 
RULING DYNASTY – Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
ENDLESS DAYS – Struck heels passing the winning post.
 
WAR BABY – Jumped awkwardly.
 
HIGH MIST – Slow to begin.
 
HI HARRY – Shifted out slightly approaching the winning post.
 
VOLTAIRE LUMIERE – Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
Race 3: CASCADE PHELAN READY STAKES – 1110M
 
EF TROOP – Bumped on jumping.
 
CROCKETT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
RAINS APLENTY – Taken wider on the home turn.
 
Race 4: CANADIAN CLUB CALAWAY GAL STAKES – 1110M
 
VERANES – Shifted out on jumping and made contact with another runner.
 
GRANNY RED SHOES – Bumped on jumping. Bumped near the 200m.
 
DREAM SERENADE – Raced wide without cover. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
WITHERSPOON – Got its head up when being restrained passing the 900m. Shifted in and bumped another runner near the 200m.
 
MISCHIEVOUSMARILYN – Slow to begin.
 
OUTBACK BARBIE – Shifted out on jumping.
 
SIZZLING ACE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SNICKI MINAJ – Jumped awkwardly. Disappointed for a run approaching the 300m, altered course to the inside and again disappointed for a run approaching the 200m.
 
SERLINA – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE ART OF THE BAR – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
Race 5: CASCADE OPEN H'CAP – 2020M
 
RUDY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
LONG TIME AGO – Inclined to lay out after leaving the 600m.
 
INGEEGOODBE – R. Stewart reported at scale that it was not his intention to race in a handy position, but after beginning well he allowed the gelding to stride forward.
 
RICHARD OF YORKE – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
Race 6: HOGS BREATH CAFE AUSTRALIA BRIBIE H'CAP – 1050M
 
STELLA OMBRA – Raced wide without cover. Hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer K. Schweida indicated that he would continue with the horse’s preparation and also give consideration to experimenting with a different bit.
 
IRISH CONSTABULARY – Raced wide throughout.
 
BULLPIT – Raced wide without cover.
 
ALL OVER BOSANOVA – Hampered on jumping.
 
KHALAMA – Held up until after leaving the 100m.
 
TARZAN – Hampered on jumping. Had to be checked when tightened for room shortly after the start. L. Rolls, the rider of ALL OVER BOSANOVA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in under riding when not fully clear of TARZAN, resulting in interference to that runner. Jockey Rolls’ licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 16 December and expire at midnight on Monday 25 December 2017. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Roll’s guilty plea. Got its head up after leaving the 900m and commenced to race ungenerously.
 
COLINELLE – Shifted in on jumping, hampering runners to the inside.
 
ZOUZOUKAKIA – Raced wide without cover.
 
FREQUENDLY – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Had to steady away from heels approaching the 800m.
 
Race 7: FUNKY’S MEXICAN CANTINA GOLD EDITION PLATE – 1200M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight several riders expressed concern that the starter had called “ready” and a number of horses had lunged forward but the start was not effected at that time. As no horses were disadvantaged, stewards ruled correct weight. The starter advised that he initially had called “ready”, however, due to SHOGUN SUN striking in the barriers he delayed the start. Stewards will liaise with the Brisbane Racing Club in an attempt to improve the starting process.
 
GOODFELLA – Jumped awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BRING IT HOME POP – Slipped behind on jumping.. Raced wide without cover.
 
LUNA MISSILE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in the near fore fetlock and sore behind the rump.
 
SUPER EX – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden off the pace and in a midfield position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly, settling midfield but racing wide throughout.
 
CELLARGIRL – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
Race 8: NIGHT OWL LOUGH NEAGH STAKES – 1350M
 
BEAUTY FLAME – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m when attempting to improve where there was insufficient room. Momentarily steadied near the 400m.
 
MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – Shifted out on jumping and made heavy contact with the runner to the outside. Raced wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward near the 900m to a position outside the leader.
 
COL ‘N’ LIL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained a laceration to the near hind cannon and had lost the near fore plate in running.
 
SNOOPY – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
PRIVLAKA – Raced ungenerously after leaving the 1000m when attempting to be steadied. Held up rounding the home turn and had to be checked off the heels of a tiring runner and alter course to the inside.
 
RUETTIGER – Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card. Bumped heavily on jumping. Raced wide without cover.
 
IN HIS STRIDE – Jumped awkwardly. Forced wide on the home turn.
 
UNEQUIVOCAL – Bumped by another runner near the 600m, brushed the running rail and became awkward.
 
Race 9: CONGRATULATIONS JIM ROBERTS ON 30 YEARS CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M
 
TRUBIA – Slow to begin. Held up from the 300m and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 100m.
 
ROSIE POSIE – Bumped approaching the winning post and had to be steadied.
 
BACKSLAPPER – Hung in near the 500m and had to be checked off heels. Held up over the concluding stages.
 
COURTZA KING – Hampered near the 500m.
 
DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Got its head up when being restrained in the early stages.
 
RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR – Got its head up when racing in restricted room near the 600m.
 
PEPPERANO – The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the nearside shoulder.
 
RARE OCCURRENCE – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post.
 
CARE TO THINK – Had to be severely checked to avoid heels near the 800m.
 
DEEP IMAGE – Had to be checked after leaving the 900m whilst racing fiercely when tightened for room by ICE FROST, which was taken in by RARE OCCURRENCE. L. Cassidy, the rider of RARE OCCURRENCE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in when not fully clear of ICE FROST. L. Cassidy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, to commence at midnight on Wednesday 20 December and expire at midnight on Friday 29 December 2017. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Cassidy’s good riding record and acknowledged that whilst the interference suffered by DEEP IMAGE was significant, they were cognisant of that horse’s racing manners.
 
ICE FROST – Taken in by another runner after leaving the 900m. Approaching the winning post, shifted in and away from another runner whilst tiring and hampered runners to the inside.
 
NILETTE – Lost both hind plates in running.
