Rolls Race 1: #BNERACES Benchmark 85 Handicap – 2030m STANLEY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted jockey S. Galloway stated that the gelding overraced in the early stages and pulled hard and he was reluctant to allow it to stride forward when the pace was slow in the early stages. Jockey Galloway added in his opinion the gelding settled well after leaving the 1200m and improved its position near the 600m however STANLEY did not respond to his riding. He further added that the gelding may be feeling the effects of recent racing. Trainer M. Costa confirmed that the gelding will now be sent for a short let up. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a routine swab sample was taken. ESTIKHRAAJ – Jockey R. Fradd was advised to ride his mounts out to the finishing line. MOBILE – Jockey S. Cormack was advised to ride his mounts out to the finishing line. IDLE SITUATION – When asked to explain the improved performance trainer G. Baker stated that the gelding is better suited on firmer tracks and has taken a fitness benefit from recent racing. Race 2: Brent Kielly Memorial Class 6 Handicap – 1050m KHALEESI – Trainer B. Brown advised the horse would be ridden back in the field today. The horse was ridden accordingly. BONSHO – Broke through the front of its stall, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race. Bumped near the 350m. MAKE HER OWN WHEY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Held up in the straight until approaching the 150m. SNITZELS JOY – Began awkwardly and was then bumped. KINGS OF LEON – Slow into stride. In the early stages when overracing had to be restrained from heels. Held up over the final 100m and could not be fully tested. JEST EXCEL – Hung out leaving the 600m. Approaching the winning post had to be restrained when crowded for room. ALASKAN WOLF – Held up momentarily on straightening. Race 3: Ascot Green Class 6 Plate – 1630m OLD HABITS – Slow into stride. Brushed slightly prior to the winning post. MISS DUBOIS – Slow into stride. HAPPY GO PLUCKY – Caught three wide without cover early and was allowed to stride forward outside the leader from the 1200m. Brushed slightly prior to the winning post. SAVANNAH ROSE – Bumped on a number of occasions between the 300m and 200m. RED PRINCE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. When questioned App T. Marshall stated it was his intention to race in a forward position with cover however, approaching the 1400m when racing in a three wide position he attempted to ease the horse back to take a position with cover but was prevented from doing so by runners to his inside. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 4: Powering The Happy Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1200m MANAYA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the middle stages. ROCK SPUR – Slow into stride. For a considerable distance in the home straight was unable to secure clear running. Held up approaching the 200m and had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 100m and again had to be steadied. MISS IANO – Hampered shortly after the start. Trainer M. Webb was questioned regarding the improved performance of MISS IANO today compared to its last start at Doomben where it was been 22.4 lengths. Mr Webb explained that when MISS IANO arrived in Queensland and raced poorly at Doomben it was revealed that the mare was suffering from a virus and was found to have a high temperature. Mr Webb added that the mare then received veterinary treatment for that ailment however, he had failed to adhere to his obligations under AR140(c). Mr Webb was found guilty of a charge under that Rule in that he had failed to report a condition which may have affected the mares performance at its last start. Mr Webb was fined $500. TRUCULENT – Hung in under pressure in the straight. Raced three wide without cover throughout. PATRONIZING – Steadied when crowded slightly near the 100m. NEPTUNE PALACE – Raced four wide without cover throughout. MUDDY ROPE – Trainer C. Anderson reported that the horse will be sent for an immediate spell. Race 5: Bam Millie Wright Dalrello Stakes (Listed) – 1200m RACECOURSE ROAD – Slipped over in the mounting yard, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and again at the start and was considered suitable to race. Severely hampered on jumping when crowded. STARVIRGO – Began awkwardly. GRIM REAPER – Hampered shortly after the start. INVINCORE – Steadied near the 700m when crowded slightly by MISHANI HUSTLER (App T. Marshall). App Marshall was reprimanded. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in both front legs. Trainer advised a veterinary clearance would be required. ONLY WANNA SING – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 6: Makers Mark QTIS 3YO Plate - 1350m Trainer T. Gollan was fined $100 for the late declaration of S. Cormack as the rider of HI LIZZY. HI LIZZY – Hampered shortly after the start. FEMME FIREBALL – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages. SNITZ – Commenced to overrace from the 700m when being restrained and had to shift out resulting in it racing three wide from that point. MISHANI BULLITT – Commenced to overrace in the middle stages and had to be restrained. MARSUPIAL – Held up rounding the home turn. Race 7: Aquis Park Gold Coast Bracelet (Listed) – 1630m IMPROVISE – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden midfield with cover if circumstances permit. After obtaining cover early was left three wide without cover therefore jockey D. Browne elected to stride forward to cross to the lead near the 800m.IMPULSIVE – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden in a handy position if circumstances permit. Raced midfield with cover. TORVILL – Slow into stride. BEACH DRUM – Slow into stride. LA SCOPA – Slow into stride. Had some difficulty obtaining a clear run after the 200m. SUSURRI – Making the first turn near the 1400m commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from heels. HARDLY SURPRISING – Caught wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail near the 1200m. BOOM BOOM EPIC - Caught wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail near the 1200m. RUBY RED HEART – Steadied from heels near the 1200m when overracing. Jockey D. Griffin explained that from the wide draw his instructions were to take a hold at the start and ride from a rearward position. When asked if he could have made an effort to improve into the race from the 600m his intentions were to improve three wide however, it was inclined to lay in behind LA SCOPA. He added the filly continued to do so in the straight and only finished the race off fairly. He further added that the trainer advised that it may be her intention to experiment with blinkers before the fillys next start. Trainer D. Forster confirmed the instructions for the filly to be ridden conservatively from the wide barrier today. Ms Forster was reprimanded for failing to advise stewards of her intention to vary the fillys racing pattern from its most recent start. Ms Forster confirmed that should the filly draw a more favourable barrier the intention will be to have it ridden in a forward position. PLAY THAT SONG – Steadied to avoid the heels of ANOTHER DOLLAR in the final stages. ANOTHER DOLLAR – Raced three wide without cover throughout. MISSYBEEL – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination will be required prior to the filly racing again. Race 8: Hiflow Industries Victory Stakes (Group 2) – 1200m I AM EXCITED – Began awkwardly and failed to muster speed. Near the 500m was bumped and carried wider. MOST IMPORTANT – Steadied near the 900m. JUNGLE EDGE – Near the 800m was steadied to avoid the heels of MONSIEUR GUSTAVE, which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Jockey T. Brooker (MONSIEUR GUSTAVE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 800m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in JUNGLE EDGE having to be steadied. Stewards took into account that the carelessness shown was in the mid range and that it was a Group 2 event. Jockey Brookers licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days to commence midnight 6 May 2018 and expire midnight 18 May 2018. IMPENDING – Steadied near the 800m to avoid interference suffered by runners in front. Race 9: East Coast Car Rentals Gunsynd Classic (Group 3) – 1630m OMINECA – Bounded on jumping and lost considerable ground. NAKED – Slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings. HANG – Commenced to overrace making the first turn and had to be checked severely to avoid heels. Cast a near fore plate in running. CALIFORNIA TURBO – Approaching the first turn commenced to overrace and when being restrained got its head up and shifted out across heels and was severely checked. Continued to overrace in the middle stages. ZOFONIC DANCER – Overraced making the first turn and continued to do so and then had to be restrained near the 1200m. CAPITAL GAIN – Making the first turn was inconvenienced and carried wider. VILLERMONT – Caught wide without cover in the early stages and was then allowed to stride forward and cross to the lead near the 1000m. LUCKY JACKSON – Awkwardly placed close to heels near the 400m.
