SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Gold Coast Meeting 9/5/2018 – Race 9 Class 5 1800m
 
TAVISTOCK ABBEY – Stable reported that following the disappointing performance, an endoscopic examination revealed that the gelding will be required to undergo a wind operation and will then be sent for an immediate spell.
 
GENERAL
 
Following advice from the QRIC Integrity Investigations Team during routine stable inspections this morning, it was discovered that the treatment book for horses trained by Mr T. Pike, being SACRED MASTER (Race 3) and THE BOSTONIAN (Race 6) revealed that they had been administered with Neutrolene Plus which is an alkalising agent. The administration took place yesterday morning which is in breach of AR178AA. Acting under this Rule both horses were withdrawn at 11.45 a.m. by order of stewards. Mr Pike advised that the administration was performed in error as the Rules regarding the administration of alkalising agents to horses one clear day prior to the race  differ from that in New Zealand. Mr Pike pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $500. In determining penalty stewards acknowledged Mr Pikes forthright evidence and that it was an inadvertent error.
 
 
 
Race 1: Swire Shipping Class 6 Plate – 1110m
 
PRINCEFAMOUS – Presented to race in blinkers. Due to a clerical error the gear change was approved after the deadline. As the change had made some publications stewards permitted the gelding to race with blinkers. Co-trainer P. Snowden was fined $200.  
 
IN TIMES OF WAR – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden closer to the speed today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
ANOTHER WHISKEY – Awkward in its stall and was slow to begin.
 
HAVASAY – Restrained at the start from the wide gate.
 
ECHO EFFECT – Restrained at the start from the wide gate. Bumped on the home turn. Raced four wide without cover. Jockey C. Williams reported at scale his mount overraced in the early stages.
 
TANGO RAIN – Jumped awkwardly and was then bumped. Held up at the entrance to the straight until inside the 200m. When questioned jockey C. Brown stated that it was his intention was to lead however after beginning only fairly and failing to muster early speed he elected to settle off the pace.
 
EXCEEDINGLY – Overraced in the early stages. Raced three wide with cover.
 
MAKE HER OWN WHEY – Overraced and then raced three wide without cover from the 800m.
 
 
Race 2: Ambassador Travel Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1350m
 
OLD HABITS – Slow to begin.
 
MANAYA – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
ORDER AGAIN – Near the 300m had to be steadied away from heels when OLD HABITS (S. Cormack) shifted out. Jockey S. Cormack was reprimanded.
 
OINK – Held up until approaching the 200m.
 
EMINENT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BUSHY – Raced three wide throughout.
 
 
Race 3: IPG Marketing Solutions Members Handicap (Listed) – 1600m
 
EXOCET – Slow to begin. Held up on straightening until near the 250m.
 
PAYROLL – Slow to begin.
 
NOZOMI – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
WITH A PROMISE – When questioned regarding the performance trainer B. Currie stated that the mare is better suited when ridden to lead and when it was obvious the mare was unable to take up that position he was satisfied that the rider elected to take up a trailing position. He added that in his opinion this did not suit the mares racing pattern. He advised it was the stables intention to step the mare up in distance to 2000m for its next start.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
Race 4: Ascot Green Chairmans Handicap (Group 3) – 2000m
 
MY DIAMANTINE which was fractious in its stall was found to have lacerations to the off fore leg and was withdrawn at 1.10 p.m. acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on MY DIAMANTINE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 1.10 p.m.:-

MISS DUBOIS – Restrained from its wide gate to a rearward position.
 
TUMULTUOUS – Began awkwardly.
 
LOVANI – Dipped on jumping. Near the 600m shifted away from heels and made contact with another runner.
 
XEBEC – Caught racing three wide without cover for a considerable distance before being allowed to stride forward to race outside the leader near the 800m. When questioned regarding the his riding of XEBEC jockey J. Lloyd stated that the gelding did not muster any early pace and was unable to lead and he expected LOVANI to move over to the fence approaching the 1600m however, when this did not happen he was reluctant to restrain and as a consequence was caught in a three wide position without cover. He said he was mindful that the gelding is somewhat one pace therefore he gradually allowed the gelding to stride forward to the lead after the 1000m. His explanation was noted.
 
INTERLOCUTER – Raced three wide without cover from the 800m.
 
MEGABLAST – Bumped at the 600m.
 
RISING RED – Inclined to lay out in the straight.
 
GOATHLAND – Raced four wide without cover throughout. When questioned regarding the performance jockey K. McEvoy stated it was his intention to settle closer to the speed however the gelding failed to muster speed in the early stages therefore he elected to obtain cover but was unable to do so and was obliged to race wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had been galloped on the off hind leg and was swabbed.
ANTON EN AVANT – Stewards questioned trainer S. Lee regarding the improved performance of the gelding. Mr Lee stated that he was not dissatisfied with the gelding previous performance at Doomben on 21 April 2018 whereby it was only beaten some 4.4 lengths and the geldings work since that start has improved immensely.
 
KAHARAU – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had sustained an injury to the near fore suspensory. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to the horse racing again. 
 
JUMBO PRINCE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from the thumps.
 
 
Race 5: Moet & Chandon Champagne Classic (Group 2) – 1200m
 
SIZZLING ACE – Bumped and slow into stride. When questioned regarding his tactics between the 600m and 400m jockey R. Bayliss stated that after leaving the 600m the filly was travelling comfortably and he was reluctant to improve to the inside as in his opinion the surface was inferior and as a result he elected to ease out to obtain uninterrupted running.
 
RACECOURSE ROAD – Overraced badly and had to be checked from heels near the 800m. Then overraced for some distance thereafter.
 
PENNINO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
SIZZLING BELLE - For some distance after straightening was disappointed for a run and was held up until the 150m.
 
INJUSTICE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BLUE BOOK – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
ZOUSAIN -  Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
Race 6: Suez Queensland Day Stakes (Listed) – 1350m
 
SKATE TO PARIS which kicked out on a number of times in the parade ring and contacted the rail was examined by the veterinary surgeon and considered suitable to race.
 
WARRANTY – Stood awkwardly in it stall and was slow to begin.
 
CRUZE – Slow to begin.
 
LOVE AND ROCK IT – Bumped on jumping.
 
ONENESS – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SNITZ – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
THE ICE KNIGHT – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
PERAST – When asked to explain the apparent improved performance trainer P. Perry explained that the colt at its two previous starts had raced wide in superior class races.  
 
 
Race 7: Magic Millions The Roses (Group 2) – 2000m
 
RUBY RED HEART  – Trainer D. Forster advised the horse would be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. Raced in a forward position, made the crossing awkwardly and then overraced and had to be steadied near the 1400m.
 
ANOTHER DOLLAR – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse will be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. After being caught three wide without cover was allowed to stride forward and eventually cross to the lead near the 1000m.
 
JOYFULLY OURS – Co-trainer A. Bott advised the horse would be ridden conservatively in a position off the pace. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
TORVILL – Caught three wide without cover. After the race jockey J. Orman reported that the filly felt short in its action in front.
 
GLOBAL THINKING – At the winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied when crowded for room.
 
STELLA VICTORIA – Had to be steadied from heels near the 1400m.
 
YOUNGSTAR – Raced four wide from the 800m.
 
CHILLY CHA CHA – Bumped near the150m.
 
 
Race 8: Kirin Doomben 10,000 (Group 1) – 1200m
 
THRONUM just prior to being saddled struck its head and was discharging blood from the left nostril. THRONUM was subsequently withdrawn at 3.39 p.m. acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on THRONUM were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 3.39 p.m.:-

HOUTZEN – Trainer T. Edmonds advised the horse will go back from the wide barrier and ride for luck if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden at the tail of the field.
 
SPIETH – Slow into stride. Approaching the 200m was held up for a short distance.
 
IN HER TIME – Had to be steadied when racing in restricted room near the 100m when IMPENDING (D. Browne) shifted in. Jockey D. Browne was reprimanded. Jockey C. Brown explained that IN HER TIME raced in a handy position and was comfortable in its action however, he felt the filly did not appreciate todays track racing surface. He added in the straight despite his efforts his mount was reluctant to stretch out and was also inclined to lay out in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was slightly sore in both front fetlocks and short striding in front and in addition had an elevated heart rate.
 
LE ROMAIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CARE TO THINK – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have made an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer M. Dunn will be advised that an endoscopic examination will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
 
Race 9: Mittys Rough Habit Plate (Group 3) – 2000m
 
OMINECA – Began awkwardly and jockey C. Williams struck his left knee on the gates sustaining a laceration and as a consequence lost considerable ground.
 
MADISON POINT – Near the 1700m had to be steadied when tightened by EPIC RANT, which was taken in by HANG. Jockey J. Byrne (HANG) was reprimanded and advised to be clear when shifting ground.  
 
EPIC RANT – Near the 1700m had to be steadied to avoid heels. Caught three wide without and was allowed to stride forward to race outside the leader near the 900m.
 
HIGHER GROUND – After leaving the 1600m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
MR PLOW – Overraced in the early and middle stages and had to be checked away from heels near the 1400m.
 
SO YOU WIN – Caught three wide without cover from the 900m. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the gelding felt extremely sore in front down the back straight and as he was concerned with its action he retired it from the event after the 800m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainers representative P. Shailer was advised to report anything that may come to light in the coming days.
 
CALIFORNIA TURBO – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
ASTORIA – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
NOTHING TOO HARD – Held up rounding the home turn and held up until leaving the 300m and had to alter course to the inside.
 
SALSAMOR – Hung out throughout the event. On the home turn jockey M. Zahra dropped his left rein. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt was lame in the off fore leg and lost a near fore plate. Co-trainer T. Busuttin was advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to the colt racing again and he advised that the colt will now be sent for a spell.
