MONACO SNOB – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room approaching the winning post.

SKY ONE – Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 100m and became awkward at that point when securing clear running. Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room approaching the winning post. Jockey M. McGillivray was questioned regarding his riding near the 600m when it appeared he may have had opportunity to shift wider on the track when AMTHAAL was improving to his outside. He explained that approaching the 600m, when AMTHAAL improved around him, he endeavoured to shift outside the heels of LUCY LE ROC, however his mount did not quicken despite his urgings, which allowed AMTHAAL to improve around him, resulting in his mount then being held up at the heels of LUCY LE ROC on straightening and failing to obtain clear running for the majority of the home straight. After reviewing the race footage, stewards were satisfied with jockey McGillivray’s explanation.

AMTHAAL – Raced wide from the 700m without cover.

LUCY LE ROC – Raced wide in the early stages whilst inclined to hang in.

TEMPA MENTAL – Shifted wider to improve from the 800m and raced wide without cover from that point onwards.

MURAQABA – Slow to begin.

FUTURE EVENT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight and became awkward at heels.

DON’T WE LOVE IT – Slow to begin. Overraced when the pace slackened leaving the 1400m. B. Pengelly was fined $200 for using the whip 10 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Pengelly’s totality of whip use.

DANSEZ – Overraced when the pace slackened leaving the 1400m. In light of today’s performance, trainer K. Schweida advised that the horse would now be sent for a spell.

NATURAL BLACK – Slow to begin. Raced three wide from the 700m whilst improving into the event.

Race 7: HAMILTON HOTEL BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1050M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, apprentice C. Gallagher, the rider of STELLARCRAFT, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against KID FLASH being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the final 200m. After taking evidence and viewing the patrol footage, stewards found that whilst KID FLASH had shifted out under pressure in the home straight and had impeded the racing line of STELLARCRAFT, they were not satisfied that apprentice Gallagher had been obliged to alter his riding in anyway and any interference suffered was minor and not sufficient to warrant a reversal of the placings, bearing in mind the long neck margin separating the two, and therefore dismissed the objection.

STELLARCRAFT – Raced with its head in the air passing the 800m when being restrained to avoid heels.

COMIC STORY – Slow to begin and then laid in throughout the event.

KID FLASH – Hung out from leaving the 600m onwards.

METIS – B. Stewart was fined $300 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his allocated weight.

LA VIDA LOCA – Trainer K. Schweida advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly whilst obliged to race three wide without cover.

Race 8: #BNERACES BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1350M

Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for the late declaration of R. Wiggins as the rider of COPYWRITER.

SHOW BENDER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MAKE A RULER – Overraced badly in the early stages and shifted out to avoid heels near the 900m, racing wide for a short distance.
