VASSAL – Held up and unable to improve approaching the turn into the home straight. STANLEY – Had a tendency to lay in over the final 200m. GALTERO - A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MORENDI - App C. Gallagher explained that his mount travelled comfortably and relaxed in the early stages however, after the 1400m when the leaders steadied the tempo his mount commenced to overrace and despite his efforts he was unable to maintain his position one off with cover and rather than unnecessarily restrain his mount he felt he had no other option than to allow it to stride forward and was then caught racing three wide without cover from the 1000m on. Race 2: Orthochick Fillies & Mares Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1350m FEMME FIREBALL – Raced wide from the 800m. INTRINSIC – Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 800m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. The stable representative was advise that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to the mare racing again. ROSIE POSIE – Lost both hind plates in running. Race 3: Lite N’ Easy QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Handicap – 1050m BLUEY’S READY – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. ICE PATCH – Inclined to lay out and was carried wider near the 500m when MAGIC BEANS shifted out. MAGIC BEANS – Laid in in the straight. KAORU KING – Near the 300m had to ease when crowded for racing room between MAGIC BEANS and ICELANDER, which laid out. Raced greenly in the straight. ICELANDER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3. Race 4: Lion’s Pride Building QTIS 2YO Fillies Handicap – 1050m MISHANI ROMANCE – Whilst parading behind the barriers the filly reared over, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and deemed suitable to race. CABOCHON LIL – Slow into stride. THAT’S TILLY – Slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer K. Schweida undertook to report should anything become apparent in the ensuing days. SHE’S WHITTIE – Slow into stride. Laid out approaching the turn into the home straight. RIJKER – The saddle shifted back in the early stages. After being crossed commenced to overrace and had to shift out near the 800m. BUTTON PUSHER – Near the 100m shifted in when struck with the whip. Shortly after the filly shifted out abruptly away from the rail and in doing so blundered almost dislodging its rider. Race 5: Mt Alvernia College Class 3 Plate – 2020m KORODON – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly until a point near the 1000m when the pace of the race steadied noticeably resulting in jockey J. Lloyd electing to shift three wide to improve his position to race outside the leading pair. ROMAN DOLL – Slow into stride. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 200m was checked when disappointed for a run. LAST LIGHT – Had to be steadied at the post on the first occasion. SHE’S RELIABLE – Inconvenienced near the 1000m. Laid in in the early stages of the straight. LUCKY CAPTAIN - Near the 1000m when the pace of the race steadied noticeably jockey D. Smith elected to shift three wide to improve his position to race outside the leading pair. ETIKAAL – Approaching the 900m when overracing shifted out to avoid the heels of LAST LIGHT. NASHVILLE SKYLINE – Near the 300m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SO YOU WISH (M. Cahill), which shifted out. Jockey M. Cahill was reprimanded. Jockey J. Byrne (SHE’S RELIABLE) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Following his ride in this race jockey L. Cassidy was examined by the Club’s Doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 6: Hillross Montefiore & Co Open Handicap – 1050m PROMPT RETURN – Trainer T. Edmonds reported that upon loading the horse to be transported they had some concerns with its action. The horse was subsequently examined upon arrival and deemed suitable fit to race. Caught four wide in the early stages. TISANI TOMSO – Slow into stride. RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR – Hung in in the home straight. STRATURBO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. AMANAAT – Raced four wide without cover throughout. Race 7: The Aitkenvale Family Health Care Centre QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1350m TRUSTY LAD – Slow to begin. Held up between the 200m and 100m. MISHANI ROMAN – Slow to begin. MISS SARA – Began awkwardly. PLUMARO – Bumped heavily on jumping. OUR ECHO – Caught wide in the early stages and was restrained by its rider to obtain a position closer to the rail near the 900m. CLOCKWISE – Bumped on straightening. SAY I CEE YOU – Raced three wide with cover throughout. PEERLESS CRUISE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened badly in the straight, revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Erhart advised the filly would now be sent for a spell. App C. Bayliss (ESKDALE GIRL) was cautioned for failing to ride his mount out right to the end of the race. Race 8: Weareco Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1110M MR MARKOU – Initially advertised as wearing blinkers however, trainer B. Currie then decided to remove that gear but as he did not effect this change by the prescribed time he was fined $200. Mr Currie advised the horse would be ridden back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Slow to begin. ADORADANCER – Slow into stride. Steadied near the 200m when ANNATIME (L. Tarrant) shifted out. Jockey Tarrant was severely reprimanded. ANNATIME – Bumped shortly after the start. STAR OF HARADA – Caught wide in the early stages and had to be ridden forward to race outside the lead. DESERT MAN – Held up rounding the home turn until the 200m. WINNING KISS – Bumped near the 200m. MISHANI ELECTRA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 9: BAC Friends Of Sam Class 6 Plate – 1615mHOTEL COSTE – Slow to begin. MADAM SHAZAM – Slow to begin. HAPPY GO PLUCKY – Near the 800m struck the running rail and became unbalanced. TEMPETE ROUGE – Hung out from the 800m until straightening. EL CAMPEADOR – Approaching the 100m was accidentally struck by the whip of J. Orman (DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE). Race 10: Mitavite Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1350m Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer B. Currie for the late declaration of J. Murphy as the rider of APOLOBOOM. As B. Stewart was overweight the Stewards permitted L. Tarrant to be replaced as the rider of SAINT PATRICKS DAY. Jockey Stewart was fined $200. CHILLIN WITH DYLAN – Slow to begin. FREDDIE FOX TROT – Raced keenly in the early stages. SAINT PATRICKS DAY – Near the 600m had to be eased when tightened for room onto the running rail by KAY KAY BOY, which shifted in and away from FORTENSKY, which rolled in marginally.
