SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Doomben 1 December 2018 – Race 1 – BM70 Handicap – 1200m:
 
Trainer M. Costa reported following the event that SPIRIT AND FIRE had sustained a black eye and as a result had undergone treatment. He added that he would continue with the gelding’s current preparation.
 
Race 1: LENDLEASE F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M
 
The start of this race was delayed
 
GRACE OF MONACO – Laid outwards in the straight.
 
RELIABLE LASS – Overraced for a short distance passing the 800m. Cast the off hind plate in running.
 
SUPER FREAK – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. Slow to begin. Checked from heels near the 600m.
 
ZOULOU DANCER – Raced wide throughout.
 
ELEGANT ZOUS – Raced greenly throughout and was obliged to race wide.
 
WAY OF THE DRAGON – Became awkward when racing in restricted room near the 900m and lost ground.
 
Race 2: RETIREMENT BY LENDLEASE C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M
 
IN TWO MINDS – Jumped awkwardly and inconvenienced another runner. Raced greenly throughout and after passing the 800m improved on to heels and had to be restrained.
 
ADVANCE WARNING – Slowly into stride. Raced greenly in the middle stages.
 
MEXICAN YELL – Clipped heels shortly after the start and blundered.
 
PLUNGE – Steadied from heels near the 600m.
 
BUSTER MOON – Raced wide throughout.
 
FISH ON – Bumped at the start and as a result shifted in, inconveniencing another runner.  Obliged to alter course to secure clear running near the 250m.
 
MEANER – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 3: MULLINS TAB ‘ORIGIN’ JOCKEY SERIES CLASS 2 PLATE – 2240M
 
Due to a barrier malfunction, the start of this race was delayed and rescheduled to 3:36 pm. The race subsequently started at approximately 3:39 pm.
 
KORODON – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
LUCKY CAPTAIN – Overraced when racing in restricted room in the early stages.
 
PERCIVAL POTT – Raced wide from the 1000m. Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance passing the 600m.
 
RISEUPSKATING – Tightened for room and made contact with the running rail approaching the winning post when IT’S CHOUX TIME (J. Byrne) shifted in when tiring. J. Byrne was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when his mounts shift ground.
 
SHOW A FLICK – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 1200m onwards.
 
Race 4: BERNBOROUGH FROM THE CLOUDS CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1050M
 
Due to the delay in the start of Race 3, the start of this race was approximately 3 minutes late.
 
As J. Kah was to be overweight, T. Marshall was substituted as the rider of KEEP ON ROCKING. Stewards accepted jockey J. Kah’s reason for the circumstances in which she was unable to make the weight.
 
As apprentice M. Murphy was to be overweight, apprentice J. Murphy was substituted as the rider of DUELLATOR. Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $200.
 
JETSONIC – Hung out for a short distance after passing the 600m.
 
KEEP ON ROCKING – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
OH BOY – J. Lloyd reported that he had been instructed to lead from the favourable draw today, however he was of the view that the horse may not have appreciated today’s wet surface.
 
DUELLATOR – Apprentice J. Murphy reported that the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable on today’s racing surface.
 
Race 5: TAB/ATA TRAINERS TRUST ‘ORIGIN’ JOCKEY SERIES CLASS 1 PLATE – 1350M
 
WASHINGTON STREET was declared a late scratching at 4:47 pm when the horse refused to load. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on WASHINGTON STREET be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4:47 pm:

7 cents in the dollar for the win - #6
6 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #6
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #9
6 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #11
 
Trainer C. Munce was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.
 
ADDICTED – Overraced when the pace slackened near the 900m.
 
CORONATION GLADE – Slow to begin.
 
HEAVENLY ARCHER – Blundered on jumping. Overraced when the pace slackened near the 900m.
 
SURPRISE BULLET – M. McGillivray was admonished and reminded of his obligations in relation to making a celebratory gesture prior to his mount passing the winning post.
 
WEBOUGHTAZOU – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
BALLET BABY – Raced three wide without cover.
 
DON’T DOUBT LARA – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground.
 
ENTERPRISE ROSIE – Overraced when the pace slackened near the 900m.
 
Race 6: BERNBOROUGH ASCOT QTIS 3YO CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M
 
The start of this race was delayed when ARCHER’S PARADOX had to be removed from the barriers and resaddled.
 
UNCONDITIONAL – Slow to begin. Obliged to race in restricted room near the 250m.
 
GINGER BEER – M. Du Plessis reported that his mount raced greenly throughout the event.
 
LE BEAU RENARD – Tightened for room on jumping away.
 
SPOT ON SPUD – Raced three wide without cover.
 
TULLIO – Slow to begin. Obliged to race in restricted room near the 250m.
 
TAKOTSUBO – Steadied at the 800m when racing to the inside of GINGER BEER (M. Du Plessis), which shifted in. M. Du Plessis was reprimanded.
 
ZOOM BY – Had to be checked near the 100m. Apprentice M. Murphy, the rider of ARCHER’S PARADOX, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at that point he made insufficient effort to straighten his mount, which resulted in it shifting in when insufficiently clear of ZOOM BY, which had to be checked when crowded for room. Apprentice Murphy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday, 8 December, and expire at midnight on Thursday, 20 December 2018.
 
Apprentice C. Bayliss will be interviewed regarding leaving the course without permission.
 
Race 7: THE NUTURF/TORO CHRISTMAS TAB ‘ORIGIN’ JOCKEY SERIES CLASS 2 PLATE – 1200M
 
CABEIRIAN – Raced three wide without cover.
 
ENTERPRISE MARCH – Overraced in the middle stages.

CABIN FEVER – Slow to begin.
 
LACEY LYNX PACK – Held up over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
